Behold: The world's first non-bug report!

So there I am returning from the hospital in Grandville after loading up on "oh no you di'n't" Inspirations, right? I exit the Arachnos tower, turn around to face my mission waypoint, and the screen freezes briefly. Weird, but no ill effect. Must have just had to load a bunch of textures all at once or something. It happens.

But as I'm running along, this bug report box pops up in my face! "City of Heroes has crashed. You clearly aren't playing it anymore, so tell us what you were doing!" Uhhhhh, what? Hey man, it's not like that! I'm fine, really! So I made fun of the game briefly before clicking the Send button (click for full size version):



When I clicked Send, it quit the game. Gah! How unappreciative!

Every time I've seen everything, I see something new. (-:

Had that happen a few times. Had it happen to friends too. Been around for a long time. Both the Crashing one and "Non-Crashing" one(till clicked).

I usually get that one after I've run one too many iTrials. It'll show up after I zone from the trial, or after I try and enter/leave some building in a trial.

I think the fact that it's still using the Cryptic Studios logo is a clue to why this is happening.

It's Crytpic's way of getting back at people for still playing CoH. I believe they send out a signal that gives the popup then once someone clicks it... BLAMMO!™

More seriously, it's quite possible your video driver crashed but managed to recover itself; CoX just doesn't notice the recovery part. Hell, certainly only in the past few years have I noticed that drivers actually manage to reliably recover themselves if a game manages to crash them. Oh they've been trying for a good decade, but it never worked until recently.

After that, the pop-up is probably deliberately designed to kill all CoX processes so there's no mess, since it would be assumed that if you haven't crashed to desktop, then the game itself is frozen and useless.
