Depends, I usually T1-T2 with threads and use a notice from the WST + shards (you usually get enough just from doing a WST) to craft the T3. It's much easier getting a Notice than hoping for randomly rolling a Rare

They've said (on ustream or chat, can't recall which) that they're bringing us Carnie, Nemesis & Arachnos Lore pets.

    - Ms. Liberty, Marauder (normal version), Silver Mantis, Wretch, Back Alley Brawler all hit 100% resistance to S/L while in Unstoppable, when they also activate Temp Invul or Unyielding.
I don't think he's going to change stuff that makes them temporarily invulnerable. (You can just wait until it goes down) the problem with the Honoree fight is that he sometimes (not sure if it's a bug or he's just that fast at recharging it) gets into perma-unstoppable mode.

A single burst of unstoppability for... 2 minutes or whatever it is, isn't much of a problem, but when they can keep that up it's definitely one.

I think Valkyrie on the LRSF has a similar problem too?

Except that this is not what happens. He got enough contribution to roll for salvage on both chars. The rest is RNG. (His dom is obviously a statistical outlier, that would be expected)

Web Grenade gets replaced with the equivalent from Trick Arrow or Assault Rifle. Shuriken gets replaced with Snap Shot or Burst. Expolding Shuriken gets replaced with Explosive Arrow or M30. If that doesn't work within the realms of power customization, just give all theree powers from all three "sets", and when you select any one, lock out all the attacks from the other two. Since all three are lethal damage, leave the stats for the attacks the same, regardless of which animation is used (ie, Snap Shot would not be faster than Shuriken, Burst would not have -def, etc).

My thoughts on APPs/PPPs in general: To my knowledge, there are eight types of damage available to players: Smashing, Lethal, Fire, Cold, Energy, Negative, Psychic, and Toxic. Every AT should have at least one set that can deal each type of damage. If that damage type cannot be provided in at least one primary or secondary choice, it should be added for an Epic.

So all four melee ATs should get a Psy epic (possibly similar to the Psy attacks Aberrant Rectors get?), Tanks and Brutes should get Toxic, all melee except Tanks should get Ice Melee/Armor or an Ice epic, and so on for all ATs (with the possible exception of EATs).
The thing is, in this thread I'd like to restrict it to using powers that already exist, not requiring the devs to code new ones.
  9. Controller and Scrapper/Tanker Electric Mastery should be relatively easy to figure out. Dark is a bit trickier (since it lacks a dedicated control set)

That was the one I implied with Mind over Matter, yeah.
  11. Blaster Psyche Mastery eh? It's a bit trickier since there's no Psychic Armor...

    How about this:
    Dominate (ST hold)
    Mind over Matter (Shield)
    Mass Hypnosis (Sleep)
Indomitable Will (Status protection) (If controller can have it, why not blasters?)
    Telekinesis.
  12. I've been thinking about the epic/Ancillary pools, and some of them seem... Decidedly lacking. For starters, there's no ice pool for defenders. (meaning that you can't do a cold/ice/Ice one)

What I'd also like would be an archery pool for scrappers (maybe tankers and brutes as well) might be a bit specific, but it would go with the other weapon sets (and wouldn't require you to make any new animations)

    So, without further ado:

    Frost Mastery:
Frostbite (Since you can already get two holds from Ice Blast I figured giving a different type of control power would be approporiate)
Flash Freeze (the other control power)
Frozen Armor (Probably without the defence debuff resistance since most other epics lack it)
Freezing Touch (Which is a hold, but is also melee and a DOT, so a bit different than just another standard ST hold)

Have trouble with the last power (which should be some kind of utility/self buff one) Hibernate already exists in Leviathan mastery. Something like Hoarfrost or Energy Absorbtion maybe? But that might be a bit too strong.

Archery mastery would be relatively simple: Just splice together a few archery powers and a few Trick Arrow ones:

    Flash Arrow
    Ice Arrow
    Aimed Shot
    Explosive Arrow
    Acid Arrow

  15. Yeah, the question isn't that either isn't good: Recharge is ALWAYS good and the benefits from Nerve are nice too, I just don't know which one is better

For the sake of argument, let's assume that you are capable of designing a system with no wrong choices, where everything I pick, I pick because that's what I want to do and not because it constitutes better performance. I'm down with that. In fact, I'd like to play such a game, provided you didn't leave in choices which gimp me anyway, with no ability to predict which they are. Let's assume that. I have two questions, then:

    1. Why even bother with small percentage values that have non-obvious effects? If you don't want me min-maxing, would you then offer me 3% resistance to cold damage? Would you offer me an extra 1% chance to score a critical hit? Would you, in the broader sense, offer me choices which are only meaningful within a min/max context? I have two ways to make decisions: One is based on understanding the underlying system and being deduce the significance of each choice even if it isn't directly obvious, and the other is by simply making a choice and looking for the effect it has. You can't have your cake and eat it, too. If you give me a system that I cannot comprehend, then you CANNOT give me choices that don't have obvious consequences.

    2. Why even bother bundling effects? Suppose I'm given the ability to have more damage and more resistance to toxic attacks, or I'm able to have more speed and more accuracy. Suppose I want more damage and more accuracy but I care nothing for speed and toxic resistance? I want both choices equally, so I must find some way to differentiate between them. If I were given a choice of damage, accuracy, speed and toxic resistance with the ability to pick only two, then that would be a far superior situation, but would you go for that?

This really comes down to the fact that players like to know what they are doing and not just pressing "Random" at every choice, and when players are given bundle choices, they tend to evaluate everything in the bundle. IF you can design a system which doesn't task the player with min-maxing, then you NEED to break those bundles up into individual items and you HAVE to make each choice's effect obvious through play.
There is a way of differentiating these things and making it obvious what they do: It's called "mathemathical representation" Numbers are the simplest ways to represent these things.
  17. The reason I was thinking Nerve is that it A) would provide a tiny bit of extra defence for my shields and B) I was thinking of picking up Scorpion Shield, which is about 20%

EDIT: Seems like I'd get about 3.4% extra defence from Arctic Fog and Scorpion Shield alone, not too shabby actually considering it means I can (at the very least) drop a slot from Heat Loss.
  18. So, I'm mulling over what to do with my Cold/Ice defender once she hits 50. Thinking of going for some kind of softcap build, or maybe I'll just try to give her maximum Debuffage.

My question is for the Alpha: As in the thread title, Nerve or Spiritual? Nerve would give Acc (always good) and an extra bit of defence (not sure how much it would add up to though? Any ideas? Not really clear on exactly how the "reduces ED" thing works) spiritual of course is mainly there for the recharge.

So I follow the tradition and ask the boards. Suggestions?

EDIT: A minor additional benefit to Nerve would be that it helps getting Judgement to hit, if only a bit.

    Wish List for 21

    1. An Ice Ancillary for Defenders (seriously! We haven't got one! It ruins the theme of my Cold/Ice defender! Not to mention that I have to go villain to get a defence shield!)
    2. Illusion Control for Dominators
    3. Cold Domination for Masterminds.
  21. I really do think people "Don't get" MMORPG design: The devs are, I suspect DELIBERATELY leaving plotlines unfinished so they'll have something to work with later on. They're not going to resolve anything.
  22. I thought a joke about fusion would be the most natural one?
  23. "The Apex TF itself has more troubling plot problems. Like how the hell did Battle Maiden get warped in high enough to basically turn into a weapon of mass destruction? "

Presumably they just opened a portal in orbit and dropped her.

"If you really want Sutter-specific, the behavior in both TFs suggests that the invasion forces try to wait for civilians to mostly evacuate but then you also have battle-maiden hitting Steel Canyon from space and Skyway being destroyed in a matter of minutes, actions which could kill hundreds if not thousands."

I suspect the keyword here is "mostly evacuate". The Praetorians are trying to avoid civilian casualties as far as possible, but they're not willing to compromise their military objectives.

It's a kind of disconnect, you can't have the IDF being the endgame badass AND be matchable by a low level taskforce, it kind of peeves off Incarnate players since it makes them feel less powerful and doesn't do the enemy group justice.

Now if they'd stuck to just using Skyraiders that would have been fine.
Except that it's not the case. It's explicitly noted that what's happening in Apex/Tin Mage is that Cole is using his connection with the Well to neuter the defenders/attackers. The IDF are certainly more powerful than eg. the PPD, but they're still operating on largely the same scale.
  25. The Sutter TF takes place just before or during the Apex one. One of the Sky Raiders mentions that their invasion is just a diversion from Battle Maiden's assault.
