  2. No problemo, a lot of the time it's the updater choosing a non-optimal port. You can quit and restart the updater a few times to randomly choose another port and eventually you'll get one that's faster, but that's a pain in the tuchus.

  4. If you search around (here and Player Questions, mainly), there are a lot (compared to normal, which is "practically none") of posts about new accounts acting weird. NCsoft did some account management site maintenance yesterday, and it seems to have screwed something up internally. Unfortunately, that means the only recourse for these new players is waiting on support to clear it up.

    Even more sad, this seems to only be happening to new players, which is an EXCEEDINGLY BAD way to start your City career...doh!!

  6. It sounds like yesterday's account maintenance screwed something up. Too many folks being hit by this bug, and the bug that makes people unable to log into already-created characters after going back to the character select screen (see the last couple posts in the LJ Q&A thread).

    Slot position doesn't matter. Support can restore characters no matter what's happened with their slot.

    It's the name that's more important. Support has much more work (if not outright impossible to do) if you create a new character with the deleted character's name.

    OP: Contact support. They might be able to undelete for you.

  10. Sadly, it sounds like your account has been bitten by a semi-rare bug that locks "old" (already-created) characters out (it still allows you to create new characters, yes?). Email support ( support@ncsoft.com ) or go to the support website, register, and file a petition.
  11. Uhh, you're not wasting your money. You'll get them, but since the account stuff was under maintenance today, you might have to wait for support to sort it out. By the way, sending in multiple petitions for assistance will not help your issue.

    Email: support@plaync.com (likely you'll be directed to the "ask a question" petition website)

    However, since this is a billing issue, you could call them:

    (this number is ONLY for billing issues, not tech support or in-game support)

  13. Also, I updated the wiki with what information I've pulled from this thread (link) - there are some missing pieces, take a look at the list of unknowns (all Trials) and lemme know whether you've been dinged by the 24 hour timer (or change it yourself).

    No, each TF is on its own separate timer.

    S/he should not be hitting the timer unless they are the above-mentioned exceptions to the rule.

    If you're gonna get ants in yer' pants for misspelling "rogue", you shouldn't misspell "they're". After all, "they're" has been around a lot longer than CoV.

    No AE badges would prove teh second one. No debt badges would go a long way toward proving the third, but not solid proof. No way to prove the first.

    This is incorrect, my account that I started after the merge, has both regular retail versions, plus the CoH DVD version, plus GvE.

    3. Player doesn't want to accept invites from random schmucks, but folks they've teamed with before may be welcome, so they don't want to hide from search entirely. They may or may not have friended the player, so they can't guarantee still being able to be seen if they hide from search.
