Hmm, i almost always get an extra emp merit from Strong and Pretty. It may just be just 1 badge that does it... very odd (i've been getting 3 emp merits a day by getting leagues together for strong and pretty runs)
-
Eh, i know this is in the tanker thread, but i went +hp on my MM. I'm a bot/traps, so i already have high regen from double stacked Triage Beacons, and Bodyguard mode basically means that any +HP i can give to my pets means I survive that much longer (and they regenerate more from triage beacon)
The +regen is probably the best you can get on any defensive (both in defense, and resistance) AT, but the +HP is nice for MMs, due to the scaling nature of bodyguard mode, especially if you already have an AoE heal, or other forms of AoE +regen. -
Man, I'm at work now, and when i get back online tomorrow, noone is going to want to run Antiacid with me to get my masters on Arbegla

Quote:The thing is, when comparing the t4 Rebirth to the t4 barrier (so the both have a perma boost on you) the t4 rebirth with +regen pulls MUCH further a head. t4 rebirth gives 200% +regen prema, with bursts of up to 1600% regen, t4 barrier gives 5%res/5% def perma, with bursts of up to 95% res/95%def.I have to disagree that rebirth is better than barrier. Healing/regen is one of the worst forms for dmg mit.
But it really depends on the toon I guess, i think barrier is more useful for the toons with moderate res/def numbers that are in the thick of the fight and itÂ’s really useful when you have 0 DDR.
But of something like SD, SR, or even a squishy at the soft cap i think rebirth is better because it can keep your HP full so oneshot law saves you. And of course, rebirth pwns during the marauder fight for that reason.
Unless your a tanker or a brute, that resistance on barrier is mostly wasted (past 75%) and that extra defense is mostly overkill (anything over 59% is a waste, agaisnt the incarnate mobs, 45% agaisnt normal mobs) where that +regen is useful at all times, on any AT, PLUS you have that massive heal you can use which can really help out resistance based sets. -
The thing with dominators, is that you have to actually do A LOT to make them high damaging. Perma dom is a must, and then you have to lead with your controls, or else things will kill you faster then you kill them. granted, in a full throttle IO dom builds, your bound to have at lest 1 AoE control power up every spawn, so you can really just wreck stuff. It'll just cost you an arm, a leg, and half of your house.
-
Quote:That shouldnt work either, as you can't unslot a power while its recharging (to prevent such a thing from happeneing)Perhaps (and this is just me guessing, as I have no idea at all if it would work) he summoned his Lore pets, then switched what slot he had equiped, and summoned new ones? That's the only way I can see "double summons" working since recharge doesn't affect them.
-
Quote:Eh, recharge cap is 400%, counting enhancement values (i think) so 300% is still pretty high (thats in the ballpark of 200% global recharge from set bonuses)6th for me is kind of meh. But you illustrate a very good point, archery starts strong single target and drops behind as IOs come into play. Its the same type of problem that blasters have over all.
Just looking at that post its kind of dated as 300% recharge in the powers is very possible currently
But yes, Blasters on SOs are beasts, Blasters on moderate IOs are still beasts, but everyone else is about on par to what Blasters were on SOs (so blasters are ahead, but barely, in the damage department) blasters on full throttle IOs are again still beasts, but everyone else is now the Omega Beasts which can overshadow what blasters do pretty easily.
Now, while that may be a problem with blasters in general, its really hard to balance. Due to the higher damage potential that blasters have (given the same durablity as a scrapper, the blaster will out damage the scrapper any given day, do to number of AoEs, and sheer higher damage mods) but getting that blaster to those levels of survival, or even adding inherent survival boosts could really turn things into massive tank mages.
Judgements however don't add any survival and just add more ranged damage, which could actually benefit the blaster as much as any other AT. Throw your judgement blast, and then kill whatever is leftover. -
Plus, if anyone is from liberty, just send me a tell @arbegla, and if I'm online i will invite you to my league, and run Lambdas and Bafs until your eyes bleed, cuz i have 12 50s i want t3 or higher boosts on (plus i want the Master Lambda badge on my MM) So really, saying your on a low pop server and that makes the trials hard, is like saying because you never see your neighbors, your living in a deserted city....
-
Eh, once you get your incarnate shifts, you'll be wishing your pets died more often so you can actually USE your powers and get higher then a uncommon component reward table...
Stupid reward tables being balanced around participation (whatever that means..) -
Ok, i found the post i was looking for. And i was wrong on archery being second.. BUT Single target damage wise, With SOs, archery is 3rd highest DPS, (at base) 4th highest with hasten factored in (or at 70% recharge from IOs) and 6th highest damage with IO (which i think in this case is 300+% recharge)
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...&postcount=233
Archery is not very weak at all, especially when you factor in its AoE abilities. -
Quote:I don't have the numbers on hand, but archery is indeed the second higher single target powerset available for blasters, with fire being the first. It was posted in the multiple 'Dual Pistols is low damage' threads, fire was top, archery was second. Gimme a few and i'll try to dig up the threads. I'm at work now, so it may be awhile. You just aren't serious here and I have to guess trying to be provocative.
Archery st chain is blazing->aimed->snap shot
It takes 5 seconds to run and does roughly 290 damage base over that give 100% damage enhance in the powers 50% from defiance and another 60% from aim and buildup give you 180 dps Meh. -
PW, just an FYI. getting al 4 badges in 1 go is a bug. I harassed support multiple times over for it, and they told me that you have to run it 3 different times (1 time for antiacid, 1 time for Lambda Looter, and 1 time for Well Stocked)
Or else my MM needs to re-petition and get my badges back (as i got Lambda Looter awarded to me by support, after having them dig up the server logs to find my run) -
think benumb, just much weaker. So -secondary will lower the affects of +def, +tohit, +heal, +regen, +speed (both travel and recharge) and i think +mez protection

Quote:Nope, I've ran my archer in leagues, and done both lambda and baf, and didn't have any problem using Rain of Arrows. you just have to be quick on the draw, and get to groups faster then other people. And Archery has the second highest single target DPS for blasters (fire being the first) No, really, look it up. Archery is literally the second best all around Blaster primary, even with the fact the it is mostly lethal damage (which a hint of fire) due to its quick animation times, and ability to build definance up quickly. You are arguing from lack of experience. Having rain of arrows on a league full of judgements is an exercise in frustration. Its even more annoying seeing as an archer has mediocre single target and almost all of it is smash/lethal. That is from experience.
How can you Fulcrum shift something that is already dead? Thats what your already arguing, that judgement adds so much AOE that it steps on blasters toes way too much.
Quote:
Sorry last time I played this game you had bunches of small things to kill on your way to that one thing that really needed dps.
Quote:When you say so many you mean 2 available to blasters. Hail of bullets is on a longer base recharge.
How it is any different then your opinion? -
Also, while the devs are saying that Astral and Emp merits will be used for other things in the future, there is no harm in convertin them down now (especially the Astral merits) as it will allow you to get more threads and unlock your boosts much faster.

Quote:So, your upset that a company, based out of California and Texas is having server maintenance during times where they are in the office, and actually able to see what is going on?funny that they dont consider any1 outside their country? sadly no isnt it
**oh cos server transfers are sooo important, everyone does them all the time - it really couldnt wait to an obscure time monday morning, oh wait they get money for it so it must be more important than us playing
major fail. oh and could they not fix the bugs that are plaguing the trials quitting etc ? nooo just the things that are affecting their income...lame
Do you expect them to be up at midnight or later their time (and forgo their families) so that times are more equalized?
Really, I'm annoyed at the constant downtime as well, but as long as they are fixing the issues that are causing the downtime, there is nothing to scream and yell about. I can't play at my peak times, due to children being home, and other real life issues, so while your not able to play during your peak times, I'm not able to pay during my normal times.
Please keep that in mind when scream and yelling that the devs should work at the wee hours of the night their time to make sure you can play during the peak hours of your time. -
Why is it not a good thing that a Empathy *arguably the best buffing powerset in the game* can't keep their lore pets buffed long enough to take out a stationary target with limit attacks?
You have to keep in mind that Judgements aren't going to make blasters fade away, or take any thunder away from them. My archer still has Rain of Arrow which does about as much damage at base (and is affected by +dam) as any non-Ion judgement power, and is on about 1/3 the recharge. Ion is broken, that much is true, but the other powers really don't step on any toes.
If you really want to go there, Ageless makes kin's useless, especially at t4 boosts, where its perma, Rebirth makes healers useless (especially the +regen one), Barrier makes all +res and +def shields useless (again, at higher tiers once its perma) and clarity makes any mez protection useless (even toggles!)
Interface doesn't add enough to really affect anything, and while Lore is amazing, its just a DPS trinket you can use every 15 mins that lasts for 5 mins. If you don't kill your thingy within 5 mins, then you have to wait another 10 in order to try it again.
There are so many AoEs that do more damage then judgements on much faster recharges that it really won't affect blasters at all. Heck, the majority of those AoEs are available to blasters already. I think, aside from Shield Charge and Lighting Rod, the other powers that rank as high as Judgement powers (the 400-500 damage range) are ONLY available to blasters, due to AT scaling. A defender's Rain of Arrows isn't going to match a Judgements, and while a Corruptor's may get close, its only during Scourge.
Blasters already had to tools to clear large spawns in seconds, and while they have always been squishy to make up for it, using IOs as a metric is not what the Dev's have been doing. Just because IOs have been in the game for going on 11 issues, doesn't mean the Dev's are balancing around them. And once you peel back those IOs, blasters have the most available damaging powers in the game. No other AT has damage/damage as their powerset choices. Its usually only damage/ or /damage but never both like a blaster does.
Overall, blasters are performing just fine. They still do damage, they still make things melt, and they are still AoE kings. -
Ion is currently bugged to have to 'jumps' affected by damage buffs (and debuffs) which means that during your rage crash, your Ion is affected by the -10,000% damage from the crash. Its a known issue, and it will probably be fixed too. Now, the first bolt should be unaffected by it, but the 'jumping' bolts won't be.
On the flip side, its always affected by damage buffs, so it will be hitting for closer to 800 dmaage (base is like 500 i think) with rage active, so just don't use it during your crash, and you'll be ok.
The other judgement powers are unaffected by both damage buffs, and damage debuffs, so you can use those with or without rage. -

Quote:Its really not that much effort. Just because you can't (or won't) do it, doesn't mean its a problem. In this age of leagues, something needs to be done about single target buffs, it's too much effort to keep buffing people all the time.
Speed boost, while awesome, does not need to be on all allies at all times. Unless your lower level, and endurance is a problem, you really only need Speed boost for big bad fights (to keep DPS high, and prevent endurance crashes) If your using its as a 'must buff everyone' power then your doing something wrong.
Siphon Power and Fulcrum shift stack. I see Siphon power as something you use on small groups (or AVs) as Fulcrum won't get you much more benefit, and Siphon costs less endurance and recharges faster. You can easily stack Siphon power up to 3 times, so if your fighting smaller groups, your better off just using siphon power, instead of Fulcrum shift. if you have groups bigger then 3 mobs, then use fulcrum.
Pretty much that easy. -

Quote:In solo situations, with IOs maybe. But Ya know, my fire/fire blaster can deal more damage quicker on SOs then my fire/fire dom can on those same SOs. While i have to hold and control things with my dom before i can nuke freely, my blaster can just blaze/fire sword mobs and literally cut them to pieces. You are certainly entitled to your opinion but I have scrappers that will destroy entire spawns one after the other much faster than a blaster will, I also have controllers and dominators that can keep up and do so with greater safety.
Quote:Comparing best of the best in sustained damage. Yes it is cherry picking but if I want to build a toon that does single target damage well that is exactly what anyone will do pick the best they can.
I really don't think blasters have anything to worry about in the damage department overall. -
Strong and Pretty, the Baf badge, awards a Emp merits instead of an astral if you already have the badge. I know that for a fact. I think 'Gotta keep em Seperated' does the same.
I'm not sure if any of the Lambda badges also award emp merits (Antiacid, Lambda Looter, or Well Stocked) but as those are arguably much harder then the baf badges, i would think they award them as well. -
And, is you know for a fact AS is going to crit (i/e at the beginning of the fight, or right after a placate) then chances are pretty high AS is going to do more DPS then your entire attack chain, in about half the time. The AS crit scale is insane, and with the ability to crit outside of hide, plus placate, there is a chance (like 1% or something) of getting a double AS crit, which is just amazing (you can down bosses with it, and the way to set it up is with placate->AS and then AS hitting the crit chance while out of hide)

Quote:When compared to the other HERO ATs, it is. Once you start factoring in villains ATs, and Veats, and blasters start getting lower on the damage list. And for pure AOE carnage, nothing can out damage a blaster. Even if blasters have more attacks then they need, that just means they have more options when stuff hits the fan. while -rech can cripple other builds, blasters just keep on blasting due to have so many options. This is from the website
http://www.cityofheroes.com/game_inf...rchetypes.html
By far the most damaging ? Not hardly.
Does anyone really think blasters are offensive juggernauts ? Having more attacks than you actually need hardly qualifies you as an offensive juggernaut. Its like saying a swiss army knife is a weapon of mass destruction because it has all those blades.
Plus it really does depend on the player behind the AT. A swiss army knife may not be too dangerous in my hands, but if you give them to a trained operative, and you've given them multiple different ways to kill someone in addition to other things they could do with it.
