  3. Don't use Speed Boost? I got it last year using Super Jump although it took a bit of practice. If you are going to use SB, I think you may want Combat Jump to provide better directional control.
  4. It's pretty easy to form a team in CoH but tools to make it easier never hurt (at the very least allow mt to filter the search so I can avoid seeing people already on teams). I see two primary problems with this. The first is that as LostHalo says in many cases this is City of Wallflowers. An automated matchmaking system would probably work ok for TFs where you have a preset objective but for anything else you need at least one person who is willing to say "we're going to go to X and do Y". I've seen many teams disintegrate due to people panic-quitting when the star gets dropped on them. With an auto-match system the chances of you ending up with this the moment your team forms are pretty high. You might be able to avert this with a "make me the leader" check box but for that to be useful you need one guy who'd happy being leader for every seven who aren't and my observation is that the ratio is significantly worse than that.

The second problem is getting people to actually use it. Relatively people use the LFG flags as it stands, will enough of them use this to make it useful?

The Apprentice Charm or Taser origin powers are by far the easiest way to light it. Here's a useful bind:
    /bind {key} "targetcustomnext oil slick$$powexecname Apprentice"
    /bind {key} "targetcustomnext oil slick$$powexecname Taser"

Targets the slick and casts the power in one key press (most of the time).

Ok, this is guesswork but here goes. When you cast Carrion Creepers the pet that you summon is called Carrion Creeper Patch is an invisible and untargetable pseudo-pet. These types of pets do not show up in the pet window (either as a hidden function of the ResistAll power they have or as soemthing hard coded somewhere). The Vines that then appear for Carrion Creeper (which are targetable) do not appear in your pet window because they are not summoned by you, they are instead summoned by the Carrion Creeper Patch.

Of course it could just as easily be the devs put some code in to stop them showing up since the sheer number makes the pets window unusually large.

Be aware there are three problems with Ignite. First the radius is tiny so you're unlikely to hit more than one target. Second it causes a fear effect so you pretty much have to hold/immobolize the enemy first. Third the animation time is looonnnggg (4 seconds).

I didn't think of that but yeah that would actually make a LOT more sense than custom animations.
  10. I would say Blaster. Focus purely on damage, and for most sets positioning isn't very important (although avoid Assault Rifle and Energy) so the lack of keyboard speed won't hinder as much. Additionally Blasters REALLY shine in the low levels where damage is the best form of mitigation. As others have said a scrapper would alos be good, but they tend to require more careful positioning.

For travel power I'd definitely take flight. I personally find teleportation very hard to use since the sudden disorientation caused by multiple hops makes me motion sick which may be an issue. Additionally with flight they can point the character in the right direction and use a key bind (/bind key "forward 1") to keep them moving with minimal input allowing for easy travel between missions.

    Well RedTomax says that it is enhanceable for Scrappers and Brutes. I guess that could be a mistake, I'll have to check later.;
  12. I've got both (on Defenders not Corruptors though) and overall I prefer Traps both solo and on a team (although both are good sets). However in the specific case you cite Glue Arrow is FAR superior to Caltrops. The reason for this is the the Glue Arrow debuff lasts for 30 seconds after the enemy leaves the glue patch whereas the Caltrops' debuff only lasts while they are in the patch. Additionally Caltrops have a fear effect which can be a bit of a double edged sword. Solo it doesn't really matter but on a team it can be annoying for the tank.

I just set a bind so I can auto target them and then hit them with a mez (or just kill them depending on character). I actually have a macro to allow me to quickly change what my target bind is set to.

I give the tank 10 seconds max to go for the next spawn and if he doesn't I'll go. Sometimes I even survive. But yeah hesitant tanks are one of the things that annoy me.

As well, I don't see how the Sybil top could clip all that much. It's basically a v-cut toga.
It's entirely possible that there are special animations for the Tsoo to allow their skirts to work correctly with martial arts. The limited costumes and animations makes this practical for NPCs while it wouldn't be for players.

It would most likely be much easier (and require going over a lot less code) than generating an entirely new enhancement type.
I'm sure they could to. However I'm also concerned about powers that can take damage IOs that really shouldn't be able to take damage procs. No, I can't list any off the top of my head because I'm not familiar with every single power in the game. Making them a different enhancement type would mean that someone has to go and look at every power and decide if it should be allowed damage procs or not.

    Quote:
I'm not entirely sure why they should be limited to one per power. If someone wanted to nerf their own damage by replacing all of their slots with IOs that with a 10% chance to deal 71.8 damage at level 50 (it's the standard proc damage for everything except for purples). That's roughly 7.8 damage per attempt (per activation or 10 second period, depending on the power type), which is only marginally better than a Damage SO in the Defender Neutrino Bolt. I don't particularly think that would be imbalancing in the least. For most powers, it would be a completely wasted slot anyway.
I'm thinking of powers where you wouldn't normally 6-slot the power. There are plenty of powers where the damage component is minor and the other required slotting can normally be done in 3 slots max, for those currently the maximum number of procs they can take is generally fewer than 3.

Honestly, that has been suggested before, put costumes that may cause clipping with some animations in and let players decide. However the devs seem disinclined to put in costumes that clip, presumably because they don't want to deal with all the whining and bug reports that it would create.

I know, it's just that first off it has to hit and secondly you aren't guaranteed to get the entire group. The debuff is nice, but I like regular resistance to back it up.

Correct the dress looks good on the Sybils but they have basically two animations (the hands on head kneeling and running). With the way the costume editor works the dress would clip with a lot of player animations, in particular the animations in Martial Arts.

  22. Thanks for the response. Another question, I'm mucking around with softcapped builds for a Traps/AR. I'm debating between Electricity Mastery which gives me 32%/45%/44% positional defenses along with 42% S/L Resistance and 30% Energy Resistance or taking the Fighting Pool which allows me to softcap all positions but only get 19.5% S/L Resistance. Which do you think sounds better? I'm leaning towards the Electricity Mastery option since playing a shield scrapper has given me an appreciation for how poor protection defense is when you don't have resistance to back it up.
  23. I'm mucking around with slotting options for my AR/Dev and most of them are reasonably simple but I'm really having trouble with Seeker Drones. I'm currently thinking of doing a 4-slot Dark Watchers for the global recharge, a Siphon Insight Acc/Rech and a Devastation Chance for Hold. This ED caps the recharge, almost caps the -to hit, provides some accuracy and gives them a chance to hold alongside their chance to stun. My problem is it seems like a very inefficient slotting for the power especially considering that my primary powers (Acid Mortar and PGT) can easily get away with 3 or 4 slots.

Does anyone have any recommendations for slotting Seeker Drones?
