Oil Slick and how to light.

I'm working on a Thug / TA Project. I was just thinking on ways to have Oil Slick lit on fire. I know Thugs has Arsonist. Ninja has Oni. What other set can I pick that would cause Oil Slick to ignite? I know if I'm teamed with someone fire, it would be alright, but if I'm running solo, am I limited to Ninja and Thug?

Aw... I was reading more into Oil Slick. I see if I go Magic Origin I can use my apprentice Charm to ignite oil slick. So it doesn't really matter what I team up with TA at this point. I'll just make sure I pick Magic when making ?/TA. Cool !

Fire and energy damage will light the oil slick. This add robots to the mix with both mastermind attacks and robot attacks. Also keep in mind your inherent power related to your origin can do energy damage. Magic and Tech origins both do energy damage to light the slick.

edit: I believe the veteran power, nemesis staff, will also do the trick with more range.

Bots are absolutely the most reliable. Every bot attack except their melees does either energy or fire, both of which will light it up.

I just tried using the Nemesis staff on the Oil Slick created by my Defender, and it doesn't ignite. The details on the staff say it only does Smashing damage. I also tried using EMP Arrow, which is energy, and it also does not work.

However, the Divining Rod I got from Croatoa is listed as an energy attack and does ignite the slick. That won't do the OP any good, obviously, but at least some energy attacks do ignite it.

Did EMP Arrow fail to light Oil Slick? Or did Oil Slick fail to light?

Two completely different results!

EMP Arrow only does its damage to robots. Oil Slick Arrow is not a robot, therefore it doesn't damage it, and can't light it.

The Apprentice Charm or Taser origin powers are by far the easiest way to light it. Here's a useful bind:
/bind {key} "targetcustomnext oil slick$$powexecname Apprentice"
/bind {key} "targetcustomnext oil slick$$powexecname Taser"

Targets the slick and casts the power in one key press (most of the time).

All Energy damage will do it.

Let me make it clear to everyone: ONLY Fire or Energy damage will ignite the Oil Slick. To all other forms of damage, the pseudopet has 10,000% Resistance.

As for MM pets that have some way to ignite it, only Zombies does not have a pet which can deal some amount of either Energy or Fire damage.

Except in PvP.

Unless Castle fixed it, which I don't think he has done (or may be able to do).

The absolute best way to light an Oil Slick Arrow is to first hold it up in the air above you, then proceed to hold a lighter to the underside and begin to melt the hard plastic casing. Ignore all the warning labels and smell and keep this up until the contents are released and ignited.

For a safer ignition, follow the other instructions in this thread.

This was fixed as of the last issue release when I tested it.
