Sybil costumes available for player characters?

I think that it would be pretty nice to have access to the outfit (and accessories) worn by the Cimeroran Sybils (and Sister Airlia). It could also come with the option of wearing Tights underneath (for the more modest female characters). That's really a nice belt that they wear!

I'd also like to put in my vote to get "butt capes" added for costume modification.

What do you all think about this?

Butt capes in general, I guess you mean? Sinve VEAT widows did in fact get them (after some time :P)

But I know a number of people in game who would /sign this, and so would I.

I'd still like to get that top for my own characters nevertheless. It's far superior to the bath robe toga.

That said, in I12 beta the arm rings that the Sybils wear were leaked in the costume editor. I'd love to see those.
And that. Upper arm details have been an old dream of mine, and I'd really like to see them added to the game. Arm and leg details in general.

I recall them saying we wouldn't get the sybil outfits, due to them clipping with martial arts.

That's also why we haven't gotten long gowns.

But that said...

...I still want them

Clipping with martial arts? Are the Devs afraid the characters would show too much skin? Um ... that's why I suggested wearing some tights underneath.

Besides, those Crey women have no trouble with *their* martial arts, and their dresses are every bit as sparse as the gowns of the Sibyls!

Clipping has no relation to how much skin is shown. Do you really not know what clipping is? Clipping has everything to do with the dress looking like **** when the body model is animating, moving through legs/torso/other costume parts/NPCs/other players/etc.

Really? The dress looks good on the Sibyls. Did I miss something somewhere?

BTW, thank-you for explaining clipping to me. Now I understand why Amerikatt can't wear a Long Cape without her tail punching a hole through it.

Correct the dress looks good on the Sybils but they have basically two animations (the hands on head kneeling and running). With the way the costume editor works the dress would clip with a lot of player animations, in particular the animations in Martial Arts.

Even if the Sybil costume isn't made available for player use, maybe some of its elements could be?

Among other things, I think a belt sash that had physics like capes would really be nice.

Kind of like Jean Grey's costume.

Honestly, that has been suggested before, put costumes that may cause clipping with some animations in and let players decide. However the devs seem disinclined to put in costumes that clip, presumably because they don't want to deal with all the whining and bug reports that it would create.

JLove has been quoted as saying he wants stuff to look good, and he thinks that having long and/or physics skirts looks like **** due to clipping (not exactly his words).

Since he's basically the person who decides, he wins.

Actually, I think those may be his words. I am pretty sure he self-edited at some point when discussing them.

Plus, I like that some of the NPC costumes are not available for players, it makes the NPCs more unique. It actually bothers me that some of the newer NPC characters (Merit Vendors and others) use parts from the Booster Packs... it makes me feel as though my characters aren't as "special" because even the NPCs bought the packs and are using their contents.

I keep hearing about how long robes would clip with Martial Arts, yet between them, the Tsoo bosses have all the Martial Arts attacks and they seem to work reasonably well.

As well, I don't see how the Sybil top could clip all that much. It's basically a v-cut toga.

And those Tsoo bosses do not pay his salary. JLove holds PC costume pieces to *MUCH* higher standards than NPC costume pieces. And he probably thinks the Tsoo bosses' skirts look like ****. (I certainly do.)

edit: PS, no one ever said the Sybil top would clip.

I still don't have my waist capes.

It's entirely possible that there are special animations for the Tsoo to allow their skirts to work correctly with martial arts. The limited costumes and animations makes this practical for NPCs while it wouldn't be for players.

So much of the existing costume pieces clip with all sorts of things - other costume pieces, power animations... even running, and everyone lives with it. I mean capes and trench coats are constantly going through my legs and I live with it.

"Because of clipping" seems like a pretty weak excuse.

*goes back to crying because he accidentally edited a bolero-with-wings costume*

I believe (not that I've investigated their model geometry, so I can't say for certain) the Tsoo get away with it because they don't actually have legs. Just a robe and feet. Without legs, there's no clipping to be done.

I didn't think of that but yeah that would actually make a LOT more sense than custom animations.

Agreed. I think they're set up just like the Carnie Illusionists, which you can see when you knock them down, that their long dresses are just a cone with no feet.

I don't see why we need to have leg, ourselves? Pants, for instance, don't have legs underneath them, and the old jackets didn't have a torso below. I'm not saying there's no good reason, but I'm not sure clipping and noleggedness are it.

I think the Devs should go ahead and implement the Sybil costume as both Upper Body and Lower Body options, and should allow it to be warn by characters with tails. Furthermore, we should also be able to wear tights under the skirt.

At the very least, how about putting it on the Test server? Please.
