in fact it's prolly the only def power I know of that allows a def to tank (admitently VERY CAREFULLY )
[/ QUOTE ]
As a FF defender I'm forced to disagree -
I can solo with my FF/Dark fine (if somewhat slower than most ATs) at high level.

3. I wouldn't really recommend repulsion field, and force bubble is a situational power.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like repulsion field a lot, but just like force bubble it too is a situational power. You don't want to be running around with it on all the time but it can be useful for pinning down mobs and also in pvp. -
Just a quick post to say I'm gonna try and play more again. I've been cought up with playing the AA beta and just generally doing other stuff but I want to push composure through that last stretch to 50.
So yeah, look forward to bubbling those of you about soon.
Also it's my birthday woooo -

i just dont like red
[/ QUOTE ]
hehe, me neither as never seen red snow before,
[/ QUOTE ]
You get it by going down a slope way too fast and losing control and faceplanting into a patch of ice. When you finally get your bearings you'll notice that much of the snow around you is red
Yellow snow also exists but I'll leave that one to your imagination
Composure will be there on monday for her very first Hammy raid. -
No high damage powers and no SOs vs GM regen rate. Low hitpoints vs GM damage. I say not possible.
Sorry to be a downer -
Nice one Toebs!
The drinks are on you! -
Detention field and force bolt will allow you solo. Seriously. It's late so that's all I'm gonna say for the moment.
Also Dispersion bubble is good as it effects you and if anyone in your team falls and uses a res, being inside the bubble cancels out the stunned effect.
Also repulsion field allows you to pin down enemies in a corner, they can't get up and you can blast away. Does use up a lot of end though.
That IS all I'm gonna say hehe. -
I checked Force Bolt on Hero Builder after our fight. Seems that it does have a good accuracy anyway. Still I didn't notice it missing much less at any point.
-
Wasn't expecting to hear that.
Nice one mate, good stuff! -
Do it, it's great. I'm still loving playing with Composure and whilst her early days where very team orientated, recently I've been playing around a lot with the build trying to squeeze every last drop of goodness out of it to make me effective in all aspects of the game. And in my opinion it works.
The sets do have a synergy and it's rare your team will get in any trouble. Also dark has a heal and whilst not particularly great, it does make up a little bit for not having one in your primary set.
I use all my bubbles a fair bit and the only one I haven't taken is repulsion bomb, which I think most bubblers agree is a waste of a power.
The only exception to this is force bubble which I don't use particularly often and am considering respecing out of. I still think it's a good power though, I'm just not great at using it.
I skipped dark pit and torrent from the blasts. Some people like dark pit for the control but I'm not so keen on it.
Also I've found that in teams I rarely have end issues, but solo I tend to run out fairly quickly. However currently I don't have end red enhancements where I should have, so you might want to think about that.
Solo is completely doable though.
I think it's a great combination, any questions you have I'd be happy to see if I can answer them -
I've had some gret fun in Sirens, PFF seems to annoy stalkers to no end and they don't seem to like giving up either. I've stood there for quite some time before with the occasional /em newspaper as multiple stalkers try over and over to hit me.
Also bouncing them about the place is great too as Crystalwolf said. I keep the team bubbled and with the debuffs from dark blast I seem to survive fairly well. -
I don't run, I just hit PFF and laugh as 5 stalkers miss their AS over and over. Casually switch on Repulsion Field and then turn off PFF, watch them all go flying off and be on my way.
-
I had similar intentions and went for Ice/Kin
Has worked out very well too. With hasten and syphon speed along with syphon power 3 stacked, Ice is quite scary. -
I didn't realise Howl was a cone attack. I just assumed it was short range, heh. One thing I'll say is that I was a little disapointed in the range of shout, but I guess it can always be slotted with range.
-
I love repulsion field, it's absolutely great. You can keep mobs pinned with it in PvE and it's pretty usefull in PvP as (mentioned previously) stalkers hate it. Stalkers of course making up a good 90%+ of the villains in Sirens
Repulsion bomb I'm not a fan of really, you could put it on blasters but then they also like to use their melee attacks from time to time so generally I couldn't see myself using it much. I'd rather use the space for a more useful power.
Force bubble I like but it's very situational, I don't use it all that often but I do still love it. Not much help there sorry
Also I would definately recomend Force Bolt and Detention Field. They're great. -
A little update on how I feel now...
I skipped Howl but will probably pick it up later. Shockwave is so much fun it puts a massive grin on my face every time I use it.
Having previously played a bubble defender I'm guessing Sonic Cage and Sonic Repulsion are gonna similar to Detention field and Repulsion bomb, except I think Sonic Repulsion is just one burst of knockback. Although I can see the uses for these two powers I definately think these are the two that can most easily be skipped.
Oh yeah and no heal. It seems like it would be a challenging solo set.
I'm tempted by every single blast though, it just seems that all together they'll give you a lot of flexibility.
The set is proving to be great fun though and I'm chuffed that I rolled a sonic/sonic.
P.S.
Thanks for the replies and thanks for posting up the numbers PhroX. -
I've just made myself a sonic/sonic alt and so far I'm really enjoying it. I noticed there aren't really any threads in here about the sonic sets so I was wandering what peoples thoughts on them were?
Looking at the powers there seems to be a nice amount of control in there, how do the the blasts compare to other sets damage wise? I also noticed you can't slot a lot of the blasts for secondary effects. And there's no snipe.
As for the sonic resonance set there's a couple of powers I think could be skipped. It seems like a very nice set for playing a support role on a team.
Any way, does any one have some experience with these sets? Care to share with us how you've found them to be so far?

Ok back to base building...
I still have no idea how salvage works. And I have a ton of the stuff.
Anyone care to explain it to me? Or is it in fact really simple and I should just go figure it out for myself? Or would it be a good idea to hand over all my salvage to DreamWeaver for use to build all sorts of lovely stuff like fishtanks and coffee tables?
I don't want to accidently spend the VGs infamy by mucking about and doing something wrong. -
Does your Kin have increase density? Because I'm getting tired now of not finding a group with my corruptor and getting to the end of a mission solo, only to find the boss 3 stacks holds on me and can't anything but faceplant and eventually log
-
Well Blasters and 'trollers and fire Tankers are all good and well. I've no idea what AT the OP is but I'm a defender here :P

This sort of thing is making me think it's not worth playing, you seen people power level their way to 50 in no time when I've been stuck at 41 for a month.
[/ QUOTE ]
A month!? Composure was stuck on 39 for roughly a year, maybe more!
Ok that was because I stopped playing for a while but still
People can come along and tell you it takes no time at all and you should just enjoy it, but in all reality it depends how long you have to play the game.
Don't believe them I say! I only have about 3 hours on a weekday to play due to my work situation and I certainly wont be on every day. Weekends aren't much better, sunday is usually my longest stretch but it's pretty random how long that'll be.
I expect it will take me a long time to ding 50 and I've been playing since US release. But I still love it, I'll get there eventually.
-
Ok well that was pretty amusing. I think ignoring the flames is probably best for the rest of this thread though
-
My FF/Dark used to have all her bubbles 6 slotted, so when I respeced I had a ton of slots to throw about. Also I dropped a couple of powers I didn't feel I needed anymore and had spare slots from pool powers that used to have more than 3 slots in.
So now I have my bubbles 3 slotted and with all the spares I've been slotting most blasts for 3 damage and 2 accuracy. I have moonbeam with 2 dam 2 acc and 2 recharge, I like the power so I find having it come around a bit more often helps.
Also Cynic, I feel sorry for you SR scrapper.
