Dispersion Bubble
Not great! Dispersion never did really provide much in the way of defense in the first instance - it's main feature is the status protection.
3-slot it with defense if you have the slots spare, but don't worry otherwise.
Thanx for the info, do you have any numbers? I used joe chotts hero planner and for some reason it said that dispersion had a resistence of 25 to everything and no defense. I know that wrong so numbers would be nice.
Also, does anyone know if the devs are planning any changes for this AT? Its silly how flawed this AT is. Its very very difficult to solo and teams games are just as tough. All I ever seem to be able to do is PFF everytime im in trouble, its just boring. How can anyone play like this and call it fun is beyond me. There is a HUGE difference between my rad/energy and my ff/psi. Does anyone know if anything is planned with this AT?
Forcefields is just a very team orientated powerset, same as Empathy (although Empathy actually has even less self-affecting powers).
Perhaps a rejig of the powers could be in order so that maybe things like Force Bolt, Repulsion Field, Detention Field and Repulsion Bomb are available before they are already.
For a solo'ing Defender the debuff sets (Trick, Dark, Radiation, etc.) are much more useful though, I agree. Doesn't mean that the set is broken though.
I love both my FF/* Defender and */FF Mastermind (though FF does appear to work better as a secondary).
Dont get me wrong, im not saying the set is broken, just its not fun for me. Especially compared to a set like radtiation and its frustrating too. So many times, i'll be standing around while my team mates health bars go down and all I can do is watch. I mean they have all their bubbles what else is there to do? If I do pull off a repulsion bomb then all the aggro is on me and then all i can do is hide in my PFF not helping anyone. Its very boring! On the other way with a set like radiation, Id run RI with EF on a mob and if that failed i could maybe slow them down with LR and if that failed i could maybe stop them with EM pulse and if that failed i could just try to spam my healing aura or blast away. So many different options, so many different ways to arrest a mob. FF seems EXTREMELY limited in that sense. I really think it needs to be looked at.
PS: detention field in teams is just annoying!

If used wisely, it could save your life.
Best to let the team know what it does though

Look like FF isnt for as bubbling is realy the meat and drink of the set. Seduction is my lvl 50 bubbler and I have to admit at times i did get borad but if you stick with it you can have the satfaction of saving your team by keeping then wraped up in a nice snug bubble.
Dention field is great lock a tsoo sorceror up so he cant heal fanbtastic. Only problem is trying to get people to understand not to attack is nigh on impossible.
Most of the repulsion powers imo I found pointless.
A Grav controller locked a PP into phase shift while we were fighting yesterday, the rest of us waited till the end before attacking it. Not all teams are stupid, so detention field is usefull
"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"
Bubbles are great, but it is a set that you need to have a feel for.
It was the first set I picked, lol, actually it's still the first char that i'm playing as I want to take him all the way to 50 before catching altilitis.
Dispersion bubble is great, it SERIOUSLY reduces the Mez times and gives a resistance to getting mezzed.
I'm not sure on the defence bonus, but I don't play by numbers anyway. Keeping everyone in it can be a bit of a problem though. But hey, can't have it all our way now can we?
It's definately not a very aggressive set. That's for sure.
But I love the set.
O and the other bonus to dispersion bubble is that it's a bubble that actually gives you a bonus as well!
Bubbles can mean the life and death of a team. I know that at times I've had bubbles drop on some of my teammates and they've wondered away bashing things and then you can just see that healthbar drop double quick.
It's a more passive set, you only affect your team before hand and doesn't have that instant gratification that you'r most likely looking for, or the offender feel, since you mentioned Rad etc.
I don't know the sets all that well, so i'm just tugging at a few stray thoughts that I've picked up.
But yes, to play a bubbler you need to be a bit more of a passive player.
Although now at lvl 39 I'm right in there with my team, if I'm not the one dicing the Tank to see who hits the group first!
My last stand tactic is usually to try and grab as much aggro as I can, get PFF'd and tell the team to run and recuparate. Problem ofcourse is that you can't actually hold aggro for very long in PFF, so if the team doesn't catch on quick, it's a definate splat.
Although that was mostly a tactic I used at lower levels, now at my level, tactics have changed a lot.
I'm just blabbering on endlessly aren't I?
Well I hope some of what I've typed helps.
The plus side to being a bubbler is that you can go away for the 4 mins before you have to rebubble to do things such as make a cup of tea etc. Not that i've done that ever of course
It's even worse (better?) as a FF Mastermind. Set teammate (pref. a Corruptor/Dominator) on auto follow, set henchmen on Follow/Agg. Dependant on relative hazzard consider popping on PFF. Return once in a blue moon
Of course, as you say noone would ever do that!

Well I obviously havent been playing FF for long enough, because so many of you have so many great things to say about it. Things that I myself really have not experienced. I've been playing my bubbler for more than a few months now, although he's only around the early 20s. Like I said before, so far my experience has been one of complete frustration. I want to enjoy bubbles, I really do and that is why im sticking to it. However there are big flaws with the set that just seem to stick in my backside like a thorn. Until these problems are solved I dont think i'll ever truely enjoy the set.
Detention field and force bolt will allow you solo. Seriously. It's late so that's all I'm gonna say for the moment.
Also Dispersion bubble is good as it effects you and if anyone in your team falls and uses a res, being inside the bubble cancels out the stunned effect.
Also repulsion field allows you to pin down enemies in a corner, they can't get up and you can blast away. Does use up a lot of end though.
That IS all I'm gonna say hehe.
Can anyone tell me what the defense ratings are for dispersion bubble 3 slotted with defense SO's?
