  1. So I just got frustrated playing my Spines/SR which has never been fotm but used to perform very nicely in PvP zones out of Elude but since I13 this stalker just can't do anything solo in RV, anything hits me outside Elude, it sucks, it's broken, SR is terrible now

    I do not want a ubber expensive build to be effective so I thought about making a DM/ or Elec/ with either Ninja or Regen secondary.

    DM is great 1x1 but it feels like lacking something and feels underpowered when you're in a group.

    Sorry about the SR rant... But it used to be okay and it is amazing in PvE esp with aid self.

    So I like the blaster idea, I have a couple of sonic defenders so I wouldn't like to make another sonic blaster especially that I dislike sonic long animations... What about Rad/ blasters?

  3. So.. no support ATs for a good duo eh? Is Ice/Energy blaster decent? I had a lot of fun with my Ice/Ice but I know /Ice has always been bad.
  4. So, I'm gonna try to get back pvping and a friend got a BS/Regen scrapper, what would be a good duo ? I thought about a Ice/Thermal Controller or some other support AT. It has changed a lot since 10 issues ago so I'm a bit lost lol. It's for zone pvp btw!

  5. Besides the different software and hardware it's still the same problem.

    The 7600(Build 16385 which is supposedly to be the final) is not hard to find on the internet, it's working great, currently running it on my 2nd desktop and the release candidate from Microsoft on my notebook, having the same issues with both. (It's a Core 2 Duo with a 9600M). (no way it's a build issue since before trying this one a couple of days ago I was using the official RC and still is, on my notebook).

    Both had the *same issues*, I heard it could be due windows updates but I have no proof as for now and haven't tried to do a rollback of the system. It's funny how I did try Windows 7 months ago in beta stage and I could run Coh with some bugs here and there but it did work.

    Running Vista x64 and the Crossfire 4770 with the 9.7 I never had any kind of issues, and there hasn't been any need for any tweak so CoH could run perfectly. Never had issues with nVidia besides the Display Driver stopped working and so on but that was sometime ago. The tweaks mentioned in the stickied thread are pretty useful but doesn't really help with this problem related to Windows 7.

    At least I'm glad I'm not the only one with this same problem, had an extensive search through the forums and found several people with the same issue, none got solved so far, different versions of Windows 7, hardware and software.

    That doesn't help me at all, no, really not, why create multiple threads about the same problem and hit the same key about it being related to graphics ? If you only had paid attention to the synthons we've described here and in many other threads all them were unsolved so far when it's about Windows 7 and slow loadings. Plus I had tried those settings as suggested on the forums in other threads however it didn't work out then I decided to leave it out of fullscreen at lowest settings trying new settings recipes, even in safe mode and different computers.

    I would suggest a stick thread about problems related to Windows 7 like we had with Vista but since it's not really officially out yet I doubt it will happen any soon. Obviously Windows 7 is already final however we do, still need mature drivers. (Vista took years in this stage, especially when related to graphics, not long ago we still had to live with bugged drivers both from nvidia and amd).

    No need to even read the sticked thread about ATI Settings if I'm on Vista or Windows XP, coh will just work perfectly at the maximum settings or any other (Hell I'm able to play coh on Fedora 11 with no problems at all).

    Also that thread is about 2 years old and CCC/ATI drivers has already changed a lot.

    Thanks for the help attempt but that wont work out nor it did help, I believe it's not really polite to spread threads around about the same subject if no solution has been found yet.
  7. Same problem on the computer I'm running Windows 7, I've tried to format and even switched video cards, once I reinstall coh it runs fine for the first time then the problem comes up again. The loading time is so long the client disconnects from the server, also, coh kept stuck at 25% CPU (Got 4 cores), its also a bit slow on the login screen, whenever you click or select something it freezes for a few then "works" until you try to enter the game after choosing the character.

    It's not a video card problem. Before formating I had a 9600GT, now a 4770 from a crossfire setup of my other computer., a totally different card with the latest drivers. My notebook does the same thing with a totally different hardware and direct 3g connection. Not a "bugged" windows, it's working 100%, even tried the older build on the notebook to see if there is a different but I had no luck at all.

    Tried compatibility mode, disabling full screen, running as an administrator nothing works.

    I managed to get online once after reinstalling the game but after few loadings I had a timeout and never worked again, once again I could see the image of my character frozen but coh was not responding, again, stuck at 25% only using only one of the cores (Tried the renderthread switch also, didn't make a difference).

  8. That's getting common, I had someone asking me if they could explore further like "Which expansion comes with the hazard zones?" Apparently they think AE is 90% of the game where the other 10% is the Character Creation.

    Then all kind of questions were made like how to get a cape or what is a TF.

    She was a level 50 Fire/Psi blaster who also mentioned at least two more 50s.
  9. No, Phantom Army can't be affected by any buffs other than it's own enhancements.

    The only way to get more damage from them is by debuffing the eminies resistance.
  10. With power customization it might look cool to have a dark blazing aura along with the dark effects!

    Not that I avoid weapon but could not find any fun ones I would really like. Axe looks a bit like Broadsword (Got two bs scrappers), never really tried war-mace plus it's all smashing/lethal damage.

    Shield/EM looks shiny and pretty but endurance insane so is Dark/EM, not sure lol.

    My favorite tanker so far is my Ice/Fire who never runs out of endurance, is close to invincible and does a lot of damage (AoE).

  11. So I wanna make a new tanker however I have no idea what to do at this moment! I've a Ice/Fire, a WP/SS, Fire/SS, Invul/Stone and I really love tanking and I'd like to try something new.

    What about Fire/DM? Dark/Ice? Shields/EM I surely want something more... different to play!.

    Any cool ideas?

  12. The recent changes to PvP focused the idea to make it easier for the casual PvPer have some fun and actually play around it. I've always been a casual PvPer on my different toons, I had no need to build them especially for PvP.

    Now, my two most fun toons I used to play with long ago on PvP are the worst thing ever. No, seriously! What the hell is up with this? My SR scrapper and stalker have no secondary, it's worse than what it has always been, of course, I haven't slotted them for PvP but I could have fun with them, now, not anymore.

    My Stalker can't stand against a blaster alone or even a regen scrapper for this matter and I could do it before without so much problem and the battle would usually be much more fun. Most of them have Aidself, Hibernate and not only blaster but I rarely see a deflected or dodge now! It used to be much more common and I could survive some seconds to strike. Now my AS + Critial Impale + Throw Spines doesn't kill the squishy blaster! (RV).

    Same goes for the scrapper, it's too squishy, the only one I have some fun with is my Regen that I am currently leveling and my Invul, but Defense is -useless-. My wP toons feels very underpowered just as well, my Stone/WP Brute, SS/WP Tanker, they all could hold their own very well being able to survive a bit.

    I like melee toons, felt it is much easier to play my blasters, defenders and corruptors but if melee was "lol" before, what is the point of all these changes right now?

    Even my Ice/Storm controller, the hurricane nerf wasn't enough, but also the slows are much "bleh".

    Why do I have to learn all this after playing PvE and PvP for over 4 years? Does it make sense?

    SR is for def, but SR has no def.
    Elude is a tier 9 but feels like an inspiration that lasts 2 minutes and kills your endurance.
    Regen is for Regen, but Regen can't regen that well as before.
    Buffers are for buffing, but they can't buff as well and sometimes they get nullified.
    Melee ATs exchange the range by melee and resistance but they are almost equal do any squishy.
    Ice powers are for slow but their slow on PvP is ridiculous.
    Do you want the complete list? We would need a bible..

    I must be another one missing the old PvP but aren't you, devs, trying to balance everything out so much that you're breaking the game? Why not leave it like PvE, at least we wouldn't have to learn the same game twice. Why not leave it as close as possible from PvE? The few people those were strong before are even more stronger because we need to build our toons to PvP and also spend billions on PvP sets, that just make PvP more elitized.

    What happened to those crowded PvP zones? What happened to Virtue's Sirens Call full of players, Warburg battles, there are so much fewer players on PvP, can't you see it? Can't you admit it was an error and give up your stubborness? Just because 100 players out of 10000 says they liked it, you decide to keep your idea? Even in the beta there was a whole negative feedback about it.

    The most fun I've had was in Issue 6, 7... blasters 2 shotting stalkers, stalkers killing people with 1 AS, extreme slows, fun gaking with TP foe, controllers and doms stacking holds. It was much more dynamic and fun

    From a casual PvPer, you made my life harder, I'll stick with PvE for now, thank you devs.

    I have a brand new Core i7 920 with 8GB Ram, 4x500GB 7200.11rpm HDDs in Raid-0+1 and a Geforce 9800gx2 with some great performance running Vista Home Premium x64.

    I am not a noob when it's about computers, my machine has a clean install of Vista, FULLY updated, with the most recent nVidia drivers and Intel drivers to date. It performs extremely well on ALL games but City of Heroes.

    The NCSoft support is useless, as soon as I say I don't have an antivirus they tell me to disable my antivirus, even if I tell them it's a clean install, they tell me to send a hijackthis log, even if I tell them I have the MOST current drivers from nVidia website, they give me the link to update my drivers.

    I used to run two CoHs simultaneous on an older PC (Core 2 Quad) with NO problems at all, but since Issue 13, 14, my Coh keeps locking up and freezing often, the HDD keep loading and Coh eats up to 2GB ram alone (I have plenty).

    Funny is, I run my game at 1680x1050 and even if I lower the settings Coh still freezes often! My loading time is ridiculously quick, the games runs smoothly 70% of the time but the other 30% is awful, especially when it's near Atlas Park with the AE fever or in PvP zones.

    I don't know why, in PvP zones it gets even worse! If I am going to attack someone, Coh often locks up and I am dead before it gets back to normal going to "Not responding" and eating 0% CPU.

    The connection passed all tests with a fairly low latency.

    My other computer which is a Phenom 9550, 9400GT, 2GB Ram runs Coh much better than this computer.

    By the way, I don't have anti-virus, I hate anti-virus, I hate viruses and my computer is 100% virus or spyware free besides it is a clean install of Vista! How I am so sure? Everything I download is on the other computer plus I only use safe web browsers such Opera and do a complete system scan through my network once a month to be sure.

    An important detail is that, sometime ago I could run CoH maxxed out on the same PC perfectly, but not anymore.

    Archery looks cool and is very appealing to me right now plus it has some nice offense against most defensive sets around. I don't know about the Fire/Psi Dom, she was built long ago around farming and helping with LRSFs can't seem to play her well at PvP, or at least, I'd need a build that could be used taking out the focus on AoEs.

    People have been extremely hard to hit with several def bonuses and others, well, lots of chance for it and that which does feel like some difference PvPing.

    Just tried out my Katana/WP Scrapper, I couldn't hit anything with 2acc SOs in each attack Deflected, Dodged... Hell, it was hard to hit a Pain corruptor, Idk what she was on but I rarely could get a kill with that toon eventhough I could chase a couple of stalkers down and get their heads.
  16. So, I don't PvP since issue whatever that nerfed everything and I'd like to pvp again.

    I had some nice builds even before IOs and used to do well with them on another server, since then, I haven't PvPed at all, my last experience goes to my Spines/SR stalker who used to kick [censored] and now is retired... (Used to duel scrappers and all and was often successful), a Mind/Psi Dom, a Ill/Rad troller and a BS/SR scrapper, also had few others.

    A LOT of things have changed since then and I don't think I have any good build atm, most of my toons are on SOs and few are almost fully IOd out with few old ways like 3 sloting stamina or buildup ignoring lots I could get from IOs.

    Currently I have:

    Cold/Sonic Defender
    Kin/Sonic Defender
    Ice/Psi Blaster
    Fire/Psi Dom
    Stone/WP Brute
    Spines/SR Stalker
    Fire/Cold Corruptor
    Katana/WP Scrapper
    MA/Invul Scraper
    Claws/SR Scrapper
    Thugs/Posion Mastermind
    SS/WP Tanker
    Fire/Shield Scrapper

    Ah, I have a Widow too who I never had fun playing, maybe because I've built her wrongly and have lots of endurance issues.

    None of them have been fotm or made thinking about PvPing, the only one I've been having fun with was my Fire/Cold corruptor, but haven't tried any other yet.

    Was thinking about a new Blaster or anything, does anyone have an idea what I can save up for doing nicely on PvP with the right build?

    I swear I am not a noob but I've been feeling a bit underpowered with all those fully IOd out people at RV.

    Ah yea, most of the toons are 50s or very close.

    You lay down Ice Patch and hide behind that corner, right there, see? The villains will fall on your Ice Patch and then your can burn them, it's the most powerful PvP build.
  19. lol... it's extremely funny people calling SR overpowered if you compare it to a couple of years ago even before IOs when SR was almost useless on PvP, so it was a must to get Phase and Aidself.

    "OMG! a SR scrappy, KILL IT!"

    Even Elude was ridiculous, fort, forge, sloted tactics or anything like that, Elude was useless. Have you tried to duel a Brute with stacked rage on your SR scrapper long ago?

    NOW PFF is something we have to look at, it's overpowered yes, hey wait.. it's PvP...

    We all know the new PvP sucks and the devs wont listen to us, why bring it up again? The next PvP will be Forums-only or a bunch of flying Invul/SS tankers VS flying SS/Invul brutes.
