    Brutes on paper

    If by fun you mean run around as fast as you can destroying everyone and everything in your path non-stop swept up in a frenzy of bloodlust and drooling screaming SMASH! SMASH! SMASH! ... then yeah, lots of fun.

    What the numbers do not convey is playstyle. With a Brute you must stay in the fight to maintain your Fury so they have a slightly different relationship with Endurance than the other melee AT's. Once you get the balance right of Blue vs. SMASH! the world is your oyster and the Scrapper AT starts feeling sub-par. You have to work hard to maintain similar Scrapper damage levels, but they seem to be (feel) MUCH tougher than Scrappers.

    They play a little different and have some different choices in powersets, but from my experience the Brute is the overall ultimate warrior. I worry that Going Rogue will get the nerf bat swinging at Brutes.
  3. Hoping for some build suggestions/examples….

    Is it possible to make a relatively cheap build for DM/WP that has 100hp per sec. regen and enough recharge for a good attack chain (with gloom)? This is for my first 50 and my first foray into Set IO’s. As far as his focus, I would just like to be effective in pick-up groups and not worry about running out of Endo. These are the powers I would like to use, but nothing is set in stone:

  4. After hearing that Brutes would be getting claws I recently made a claws scrapper just to get a feel for where the set is today. I played CoH when it came out 5 years ago for about 3 months before I got bored with it and in that time one of my toons was a claws/regen scrapper who got to 20. I wasn't particularly impressed with claws then, but i sure am now. The end efficiency is a beautiful thing and having a constant +ToHit and +Damage from Follow-up is a beautiful thing. The speed of the attacks (DPS) is nice and Eviscerate ... has a chance to Critical Hit more often ... I guess that will be different for Brutes.

    Anyone think anything else will be different on the Brute version of this set? If so, what do you think will be different?
  5. I would ask if the members of the CoV BRUTE community share and discuss from their experiences the smoothest attack chains that are possible from EACH of our Primary Power Sets. I have yet to see a comprehensive post or webpage that lists good smooth DPS effective and Endurance efficient attack chains for ALL the Power Sets in one place.

  6. Energize looks like a watered down Tier9 to me. If it goes live like this for all AT's with CP I suspect it will be nerfed right after I ding 50 with my DM/ELA

    Is it just me or does it look TOO good???

  9. Looking in Mid's it says you can't enhance Power Sink's accuracy and it has to hit to work. Am I understanding this correctly? If this is true how reliable is this power for end recovery?
  10. How to shore up Electric Armor? Been asking that same question myself.

    Dark Melee's Siphon Life is how I'm trying to do it on my current character. It's not a big heal, but (at 28 now) I have it coming up every 6 seconds and double slotted for Accuracy. I’m trying to see if I can get through the 30's without the medicine pool. Interestingly enough it's a really fun experiment, i have never focused so much on my Inspirations Tray. Electric Armor does have some benefits, but it obviously needs a little more balancing.

    How do other secondaries that have no built-in healing manage? Shield Defense and Super Reflexes...both Defense based...hmmm....must be hard to level those.

    Hard pressed to justify Phase Shift with Temp Powers available, certain i wouldn't be using it enough if i did get it.

    But i still like the benefits of Stealth itself, not only for concept but for fun factor, tiny Def. boost and ninja mission possibilities...
  12. I was thinking of grabbing this late in my current toon's development for concept reasons, but i've been wondering is there any practical use/strategy i could employ with it?

    One thing i did consider is the fact that i am DM/FIRE and the /FIRE Tier9 power isn't what you'd call a defensive "panic button."

    I thought Burn worked differently, if they have to stay in the burn patch to take the full damage I will have to rethink my strategy.

    If I do keep leveling this guy i will get into IO's definitely. I'm really interested in recharge+full damage potential for my attacks. Stealth was for defense and fun, but i will consider CJ.

    Looking in Mids Healing Flames didn't seem to get that much more out of it with full 6 slotting, once I get to 35 I’ll pop over to the test server and see how much I’m missing on that.

    ANY advice on this combo of powers would be greatly appreciated.

    Scrappers just not that into Fiery Aura?

    I was concerned about the ability to solo and overall survivability of /FA but i just reached 21 and it seems just fine, comprable to any other resist based set. Can't wait to see BURN!!! Anyway, I found Dark Consumption + Stamina quite adequate so i'm swapping Consume with Flight so i'll have a real travel power at 22.

  16. Hoping for any helpful advice on this build (Dark Melee/Fiery Aura) with regards to both PVE soloing and teaming. I really like how the Primary and Secondary both have a Heal, both have a Fear effect, both have proactive Endurance Regen and both have an Attack Buff. The final selling point to me was the strategy I could employ having the fear effect in Burn and the hold of Midnight Grasp, basically allowing me to divide and conquer. I know very little about IO Sets so I didn’t even consider them beyond the Steadfast-KB Prot. My Thanks in advance!

  19. I love this build so far (currently Level 36). ZERO downtime for my brute means I can get fury high and SMASH! SMASH! SMASH! With nothing but plain SO's big groups of orange con minions and Lt.'s = keep em comin, red con elite boss = no problem, purple con boss = bring em' on. Is there anywhere I can improve the build in the run to 50? I was concerned about the slotting of Tough and Weave. Thanks in advance.
