My scrapper Jessica Raleigh is becoming disturbing, slowly but surely. ^_^;
Her painful lack of success in the field of magic has led her to pursue certain...alternatives. Namely the rather drastic act of binding three separate demons into her own body.
Since they are primordial creatures she is able to bend them to her will with relative ease, making two manifest as a sword and shield as befits their nature: the former being very vicious and aggressive while the latter stubborn and reclusive.
The third serves to benefit her directly, affording her the general superpowered resilience the game does to all characters (being able to absorb machinegun fire, falling great heights etc.) and also letting her take to the skies on pretty, colour-coordinated wings.
However, the very restraints she uses to keep them under control also limit the power they can provide. Lessening the severity of her hold over them releases more of their potential, but also has the effect of causing them to shift to a more natural state, with the effect it has on her own body being the most unnerving.
Unfortunately for Jessica, the third demon has done an excellent job of disguising how ancient and horrific it really is from her. I have a costume in mind to represent it's complete consumption of her body based on the 'huge' phenotype, which may come in handy when Going Rogue arrives.
This is all mostly inspired by what happens to Princess Jelanda in Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth ('disturbing' does not even come close) so I suppose it's some form of therapy since Jessica can control what happens to her.....mostly ¬_¬. -
For some reason, Statesman always sounds like Mayor West in my head.

Hmm, I really don't think I could support an organisation that turns young ladies into hulking, sushi-faced monstrosities.
-
-
I created my lone scrapper simply because it was the only way to access the Broadsword power set (at the time, now it's the only way to combine Broadsword with Shields.)
I really can't stomach playing heroes, so she will certainly be heading for the Rogue Isles at the first opportunity.
Then my character list will be a tapestry of glorious crimson! ^_^ -
Thank you for the excellent writeup, Ravenswing. It's very much appreciated!
The mention of the Dawn Patrol Intrigued me. It ever-so-slightly undermines my determination to take my patriotic Scrapper over to the Rogue Isles (though I'll probably do it anyway. ^_^) -
Quote:Only a handful, I fell out of love with television a long time ago.Have you *heard* some of the people singing who get all offended when he says 'You suck'?
But in any case, you don't need to be Simon.C to tell these people that they are hopeless. I'm sure anyone with even a shred of taste can do the same.
I simply refuse to believe that we must tolerate one abysmal sector of humanity simply because it helps counter another equally abysmal part.
A plague on both their houses. ^___^ -

Though they are undoubtedly much less popular, things opera, traditional folk songs and choral elements of classical pieces (all of which I love) are examples to the contrary.
Since a lot of contemporary musical styles can trace their origins to the United States the accent has carried over when those styles are embraced by other cultures.
I think, ultimately, the accent suits the music. -
Just out of curiosity, has anybody else noticed some rather odd 'encounters' between Arachnos and Council soldiers in the Nerva Archipelago? Usually involving them pointing guns at each other and muttering something about "trust."
I think they are new (though it may just be down to a lack of attention on my part.) Maybe it's a sign of how desperate the Council are these days. -
Statesman doesn't need any more accessories, he has that ship he's always standing on. It's as much a part of his ensemble as Batman's car.
"Posi, to the Statesboat!"

Well done, StormVyxen. A well-deserved success. ^_^
Thank you to mousedroid and also Starwind and Caemgen for the kind words.
I honestly didn't think I'd do this well, more than once I looked at this thread and muttered under my breath 'ooh....I should have done something like that!' -
Well, for one thing, it would make the Lady Grey TF slightly anticlimactic.
Then again....it might be ok. All that is needed is a suitable replacement.... What is Statesman up to these days? I'm sure that boat will be safe enough without him standing around all day and night. -

I found my Scrapper with Broadsword & Shield Defence remarkably effective and fun to play.
So much so that I made her my avatar. -
Quote:From watching a number of skirmishes I'd say minions having access to martial arts and rocket launchers gives them the edge.I wish I knew how. Is it better powers, better tactics, or just sheer numbers and attrition?
The former gives them powerful melee-range attacks that the Council have no equivalent to. The latter provides a far more effective knockdown than shotgun blasts (and only higher-ranking Council get their hands on grenades if I remember correctly.)
Martial arts and a rapid-fire rocket launcher are also the powers used by the newer '5th Column Krieger' bosses (who have the decency to wear sensible pants ^_^.) -

I think this may be another instance of Architect Entertainment buildings obliterating entrances to mission instances. Happened to me about a week ago; what I assume was once sewer entrance right outside had ceased to exist.
The location is correct, but the door is long gone.
Probably an insidious plot to curtail more mainstream mission/storyarc play in favour of AE farming. -
I think you're right. Squinting closer I can see the edges of the 'head' are blurry, you can make out the talons on either side too.
Shame, I would have liked to see the 5th Column management up to no-good again. Especially since I wasn't around the first time. ^_^ -
The fourth looks a lot like Requiem...which is interesting, considering the recent reemergence of a certain fascist organisation.
-
-
One more, in honour of their auspicious return to power:
5th Column: 'Ja we are the supermen (super duper supermen!)' -
Malta: 'Forget the guns! It's Taser-time!' or 'The goggles do nothing!'
Longbow: 'When your troops look like this, death holds no fear.'
Knives of Artemis: 'When in doubt: spam caltrops.'
Circle of Thorns: 'Also great for reading in bed!'
Firbolg: 'We hollow out your head.'
Cimeroran Traitors: 'Go on. Tell us this is madness...' -
Quote:I've been playing on-and-off since 2005 so I just say Cryptic since they have contributed most of the 'worth waiting for' content that I am referring to. So far.Cryptic hasn't been involved in this game for a couple of years now. It's NCSoft/Paragon Studios now.
But, point taken. -
