There is a ton of talk here. There are pure farm builds in there as well as general builds. Look at ones for what you want and get ideas from there.

Quote:You do get tickets and those can be used for rewards rolls. Shards don't drop enough even soloing x8 for that to be a big factor to me. I would just do a TF/Trial instead. Purples also drop rare enough I don't think of it as a factor. You will easily on average generate more influ via ticket reward rolls that purple drops.i would prolly ae farm if it was actually like worthwhile
i was PLing some friends in a non-AE mish for the drops and one of the runs i got 2 purples in one run, i dislike AE farms because of the lack of drops, no shards for incarnate progression, no purples, basically it all just sucks to me so i usually avoid AE related farms due to the lack of drops and because its only slightly better than most of the popular standard farming maps
I also use tickets to counter the overpriced nature of salvage and have already unlocked all of the level 25-30 recipe crafting badges so I have my salvage slots maxed out. I'll work on the 45-50 badges so I max out recipes slots as well. If any of my characters need a common IO crafted, I simply have my ticket generators do it and then e-mail it.
I look at it this way. I can make a character who has the ability to generate 7.5K tickets with nothing else in under an hour. To me I would much rather have that than playing a character who gets a level 43 Sleep IO recipe, or another Gabriel's Hammer, or whatever that is. -
I guess my question is what is it about a Ice/cold makes you think you will enjoy it more than an Ice/ice blaster that you were "totally disappointed with?" I like both my Ice/ice and Cold/ice about the same and to me they play rather similar.

Very few people write guides these days. Period. The fact that guides have been written for it in the defender and blaster forums makes the need for a corr version all the less likely needed.
The strength of Elec is that it does a number of things. The problem is, it doesn't do any of them well enough to stand out. It's has two ST attacks if you skip the pet, so it's ST damage can be lacking. I didn't find the pet all that useful, FWIW. It has two AoEs, but one generally gets slotted for at least some end mod so you aren't getting two full AoEs out of it as well.
It has controls, but it's biggest selling point is end drain and that it is hit-or-miss at best. SC takes a full 3 seconds to animate. It needs to be applied twice before it actually end drains on an AoE level unless you have a power to combo with it like Power Boost. In other words, by the time end drain takes over, a decent part of the battle has happened. This say nothing of the fact that if there is a controller, or dom on the team they have already AoE mezzed the mob and thus the additional end drain is adding marginal mitigation, or how ever so small of a sliver a mob needs and they will still attack. In short, it's a blast set that was given mitigation tools, but they can't be too good, or they step on the toes of controllers and doms, but the blasts can't be that good either due to the mitigation the set has.
Now, there are times when it does stand out and lord knows I have dropped jaws on my Kin/elec. It's tough to die when stuff can't attack you and suddenly the little defender is the one standing and not the other teammates. When end drain works, it really is effective. On the LGTF, Famine, who I believe is the end draining one, is painfully easy to end drain and that's a huge boon for a team. Some AVs can be end drained. Some, despite my best efforts, simply can not be, or at least at a rate that would make a difference. If their end bar goes down as fast as their health bar, then end drain won't really matter. -
Quote:You are comparing an apple to a meal. The cost of the sets that we "paid" for is in no way reflect on the sets we are getting now. The sets you listed were part of a package deal and those would be drastically marked down compared to when I am only "buying" the power set itself. The cost of of a booster pack is $9.99. Is a new power set worth a booster pack? Yes. All the more so when you consider what has come in some of the boosters. Let's look at the Animal pack since it's one of the more popular ones. Beast run is basically Ninja run, so there isn't anything really standoutish there and it's a single power. The rest is purely cosmetic. Awesome looking, but cosmetic. The point of this thread is the monetary value of powersets.
This is not taking your "free points" into account as they have been described to us as an extra goodie for our continued support. Those points are free, you may spend them as you please- Therefore they are not relevant to, once again, the monetary value of powersets which is what I started this thread to discuss. -

Quote:+1. The good thing for Kat is Gambler's Cut has a base recharge of 3 seconds as where Slash is 4.8.Uh...the Achilles Heel proc does not stack with itself. No matter how many powers you put it into, it will only give your targets -20% resistance at best. Chaining several powers with the proc does increase the number of times it will check to see if it procs, but it won't do "40-60% more damage."

Quote:It's "perma" if you spam it and there's no reason to spam it. RA should be used sparingly so the proc nature of the IO is near useless. Another thing to note. +18% heal helps you and teammates. +25% regen only helps you. Adding regen on a squishy is also rather low on things to look for.*Regenerative Tissue gives +25% regeneration so I'm not sure the +18% heal is more or less over time. And yes I know it only activates when you use the power but since it's always available it's essentially perma. Someone with better math skills than I might figure that out.

If you want a balanced mix of ST and AoE, Kat and Claws work. On my Kat/sr I can pretty much chain Golden Dragonfly, Flashing Steel, and The Lotus Drops, so to me that's pretty respectable AoE.

/fire does more damage. It will be the squishiest of the three. One other knock against it is it will cause the most redraw of the three. The fun factor will be high just because you are going to pump out a ton of damage. I only have a couple /fire brutes that I used to learn about self PLing. One should hit 50 tomorrow and then I'll work on the other that's at 40. Minimal experience outside of farms, so there is little I can add. I am aiming to make an alternate builds so they can be played for general content. From my play experience as a support-o-holic, I wouldn't put too much into forming an opinion of FA until it's got IOs in it. FA on SOs is...lacking in my book.
/elec is more end friendly. My only issue with it is that brutes get Energize at 28 versus where scrappers get it at 20. Elec is working it's way towards my favorite armor set. I do have a level 32 DB/elec and level 31 Spines/elec scrappers to whom I have enjoyed. My Dark/elec brute was actually set up for deletion, but I talked to a SG mate and I was willing to grin and bear it until I got Energize. It looked so good on paper and yet I hated it so much I repeatedly put it on the self. Now, it's becoming one of my favorite builds. I got a Elec/dark Hardcore tank, and I'm rolling a SS/elec brute somewhere. I did say I liked ElA.
/dark is sturdier. It has a bunch of tools that work with teams as well. It is, an end sucking behemoth in the making if you let it be. Outside of getting KB protection, you will want the +end proc in DR asap. Highest DA I have is a level 40 Dark/stone tank and I'm happy as hell to be close to epics and then getting Cardiac once I Incarnate. I basically have a SO type build outside of the +end proc and it's a pre i19 build so I don't have room for Tough/Weave, but I can't imagine running all of those toggles on an SO build. I'm not saying it's a bad set. I just can't imagine rolling one without the intention of IOing it out and getting it Incarnated. Same can be said for FA mind you. I got a Claws/dark brute, but it's around 25 and I haven't really slotted it out yet for some reason. I need to do that and then take it for a spin. I'm just glad Claws is way more end friendly than /stone. -

So Posi, how is that Staff melee set coming along?
-
Depends on how you define "considered fine." To me it's a valid play style outside of PLing newbies which end up generating players with level 50s and still ignorant of the basics. I have just about got a level 50 SS/fire and a near level 50 Claws/fire via self PLing them in the AE and to me it has been an interesting experience and I learned from it. I even learned some aspects of using AE that I didn't know about since I hardly use the AE before. I got all of the AE stuff unlocked so at some point I'll start to poke around and see what I can come up with. Without rolling a ticket generator, that doesn't happen.

Depending on "they aren't working on" being defined, it's been known that the set is in the pipeline. It's just a matter of when and not if.

Quote:Every review I read liked it. Even the most harsh review that found it to be plain still liked it enough to recommend it. At 56% it is still being high enough to say it was at least decent. Metacritic had it at 64, IIRC, so again the critics overall were recommending it. I still wait until the masses have seen it to think the critic's number has some weight to it. One site I check doesn't post reviews until after seeing it on the day/weekend it opens. I just find it interesting to see a movie studio release it to critics and have the ones that on average dislike it the most would be the ones who saw it first. So, more evidence that people should just go see the movie for themselves, rather than rely on a critic to tell them what's good or not.
As much as I look at RT, or Metacritic, I still look at reviews which actually don't give scores. I pretty much watch the movies I wanted to anyway. If not that, then it was recommended by somebody. I honestly can't recall the last critically claimed movie I saw that I would say it was a bad movie. I can say that for one of the films that the masses liked, but got panned via critics. The second Transformers movie is a good place to start. -
Due to the title of the name I'll not link to it. However...
Medieval LARP.
Ryan Kwanten(True Blood)
Steve Zahn
Danny Pudi(Community)
Peter Dinklage
And yes, the trailer looks good. It will be a crime if this doesn't live up to it's potential. -
Post opening weekend it's at 73. It's rare movies go up like that so whoever got early access were the wrong people watching it. You want people who will give it a positive review to help build hype.

My best build isn't mine. I copied it from one of the best known posters for pulling off stupid amazing things in the game. I might be a math geek, but I'm lazy.

Quote:/wp will be the smoothest ride. /elec and /invul don't fill out until later since key powers come in at 28. All of the primaries will work. DM does offer more when it comes to soloing ITF and AVs. For my play style, SS/elec and Dark/invul would be what I would look at.So far the sets I am looking at are SS/ELA, Claws/ELA, DM/WP, or DM/INV.
I would add in Dark/elec even if it isn't listed. I fully admit mine took time to like and I even set it up to be deleted, but at 29 it's become one of my favorite builds. I just took out Protean at EB level with basically no inspirs. I started off with them, but his one attack made me burn through them and I kept running away to get my end bar and toggles back up. Finally got to where he was back to full health and me at zero inspirs, but took him out anyway. This with just SOs as well. Add in IOs, and Incarnate and I see no reason why I can't take out AVs. The damage aura just adds to leveling speed since I can take on bigger mobs. -
Unless you are going Mu for thematic reasons, I would look into going Mace since Scorpion Shield is a def based toggle and the def will stack with FFG. As fun as MOAR DAMAGE is, soft capping to stuff like S/L is even better.
-
/fire brutes are doing it in 11 hours, or less and that's total time playing the build. Note, this was done solo. One person said they took a couple days to do it, but not sure how much total time it took them. I know they said they could do it much faster if they did it again. The biggest reasons it's taking me so long in actual time to get my /fire brutes to 50 is I get tapped out after 1-2 runs and I am unlocking the patron pools and just auto completing those missions outside of the final one that actually unlocks it since you can't auto complete that one. They will be 50 before I have the day job badge for rested exp.
-
BS is a solid 4th since it looks thematic and Parry helps /sd with def until you can soft cap. Once the next set of ports hit, Axe and Mace will be worth looking at as well.
EDIT: SS for Scrappers In sort, double stacked Rage + fully saturated AAO = jaw dropping foul mouthed exclamations of glee amounts of damage. -
Quote:Praet. can be brutal on teams due to the large amount of energy damage and the zombie bosses with their double fisted attack.Oddly, my friend and I have found those areas quite frustrating on our Brute/Scrapper team. Granted, they're not nearly as frustrated as our Blaster/Corruptor team is...
Depending on the build.
