Have you considered Scrappers? They do more damage than brutes when buffed and sets like DM/SD have the permanent buffs to ensure they can out-damage Brutes. The armor sets are almost identical, except for the lack of AOE taunts on most Scrapper armors. A few hit points isn't a big survivability difference.
Claws isn't exactly high DPS but it is fairly reliable DPS. Any of the other combinations can be made to do what you described. I just haven't seen any claws users posting about soloing a TF.

I would add in Dark/elec even if it isn't listed. I fully admit mine took time to like and I even set it up to be deleted, but at 29 it's become one of my favorite builds. I just took out Protean at EB level with basically no inspirs. I started off with them, but his one attack made me burn through them and I kept running away to get my end bar and toggles back up. Finally got to where he was back to full health and me at zero inspirs, but took him out anyway. This with just SOs as well. Add in IOs, and Incarnate and I see no reason why I can't take out AVs. The damage aura just adds to leveling speed since I can take on bigger mobs.
All of these characters can do the specified tasks. I would think DM/Inv is likely to have the easier time at it.
I should have said this stuff before but he goes. I thought about a scapper but the 3 thst I have played, spines/regen, kat/sr, and dm/fire just didn't impress me. I also don't really care about low level stuff because I have 2 accts and it will be a short ride to 50. I like the idea of going inv or wp cause of the hit point bonus. I would love to pair SS with either of those but I'm not sure if I will miss the self heal. I'm gonna play around in mids a bit when I get home. I will come back with a few builds. If you get def up enough, Aid Self can fill the healing hole. This is why something like /sr, /sd, and invul is easy to do it on. You can do it on more resist based sets, but you are more likely to be interrupted, so you might need extra slots for it.

I've done the solo ITF thing on my Claws/SR Scrap back before the alphas and inherent fitness. So I guess back before solo ITF got popular
Used some inspirations on the last mish but I got it done.
I dont know about Soloing TF or AV but Dm/Wp is pretty awesome in Solo
Dm/Inv or DM/SD is what I'd do, but both are better on scrappers especially dm/shield.
So I played around in mids for a bit and came up with a couple possible builds. One is a SS/INV and the other is a FM/WP that I forgot I had on another server. I'm not dead set on either build, just looking for feedback. One note: The Aid Other in the SS/INV will be Aid Self once i21 hits. Well, here they are, and thanks for all the replys so far

I think I'm gonna go with the FM/WP build after looking at it more. It seems to have good regen and 1 purple away from soft capped S/L/E with a good amount of hit points. I belive FM/ has a good ST attack chain as well. Gonna need to do some research on that to find out what it is tho. Anyways, I am just bumping this again to see if anyone can see any huge holes and stuff that could be improved. I am thinking about replacing super jump with the self rez but thats about it. Let me know what you guys/girls think
So I want to make a new brute. Due to my limited play time, I want something that can solo end game stuff very well. I want st DPS to be pretty high. I also need good survivibilty. I would like some sort of self heal, be it from the primary or secondary. So far the sets I am looking at are SS/ELA, Claws/ELA, DM/WP, or DM/INV. I want to be able to solo things like the ITF and AVs. Due to my odd play times, I will be solo 95% of the time. I am not looking for a build at this time. Just looking for a combo that will help me do the things I want. After that I can work on and post a build. I am looking for soft capped S/L/E with one purple. Also need good ST DPS. Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be GREAT.
