  2. Just think of it this way. She's not being "put down" (killed), she's being pushed back into the deeps. After all, to get the badge, you have to do it TWICE, so you're not killing her. And so do all your friends and the random strangers around. So she isn't being killed 29834721 times a day.

    Elite Four

Probably Black Scorpion (SS brute with extras) or Scirocco (a corruptor/scrapper mix). GW has ridiculous heals, a mag 100(!!!) hold, serious -tohit, etc. Mako has cheating-Elude (no crash, 30s duration, 1:30 recharge) and placate/hide.

However, my goal is to slot him up with lowbie IO sets using the merits from TF's and AE rolls until he's fully slotted.
That won't take long - at level 10, you'll have 7 powers chosen. At 12, you have 8. Plus slots... at level 10, that's 8 extra slots. At 12, that's 10 slots. For a total of 15 slots at 10, or 18 slots at 12. Plus your inherent powers, which I don't know what game editions or add-ons you've purchased, or vet powers you've got, so I'm not guessing there. Minimum of 3 (sprint, brawl, rest). Still pitifully few slots, so you'll need relatively few merits/tickets overall.
  5. Having odd colors in your game's textures is also a sign of imminent video card failure. When's the last time you took a can of air to the dust inside? I don't know ATI cards, is that a stand-alone card or a chip on the motherboard? Are all your fans spinning (especially the one on your card if it is stand-alone)?

EDIT: Ooh. Just saw that it's an Inspiron. That's a laptop, right? Forget the canned air... you'll be hard-pressed to get in there if you're not techy. Umm. The 'sign of failure' comment is still valid, though. Does it do this only after it's been in use for a while (meaning hot), or even when the laptop is cold after resting?

    Broken patch

    What does the updater say?

There hasn't been a patch for a little while (have there even been ANY this month?), so unless you haven't played in a longer time than that, there's nothing that should have tripped a patching process.
  7. On my ill/TA troller, I'm forgoing a travel power, using Ninja Run and Raptor Pack. I have the base slot in sprint (1 run), the base slot in swift (1 run), and three slots in hurdle(3 jump). Once I get high enough level, I will drop a slot from hurdle, cos two high level IOs are within spitting distance of three SOs/SO-level IOs.

I'm planning to pick up lowbies from Atlas Park and take them on a Skulls-and-Hellions romp on the streets of Perez, as opposed to the more traditional sewer runs.

Also, the benefits of IOs scale to their individual level, so a Lv10 IO will be barely any better than a TO, while three SOs will bump up my bubbles' defense rating by half.
A generic IO at level 15 or less (or a single-aspect set IO) will not scale down when exemplaring. Their enhancement bonus is 19.2%.
Dual-aspect IOs at level 25 or less will not scale down when exemplaring. Their enhancement bonus is 20%/20%.
Triple aspect IOs at level 43 or less will not scale down when exemplaring. Their enhancement bonus is 19.9%/19.9%/19.9%.
Quad aspect IOs at any level will not scale down when exemplaring. Their enhancement bonus is 18.6%/18.6%/18.6%/18.6%.

Utilizing multi-aspect IOs means you can *VASTLY* outperform SOs. You level up the character, so you have up to six slots to play with, and those numbers can look like standard SO numbers, with far more than six slots worth of enhancement.
At permanently level 8, you have the base slot in each power, plus the option of slotting six more slots only. Which means that's ridiculously, pitifully little enhancement to be gotten from SOs.

Set your lowbie buddy as star holder, and when they level up, you can keep up with their progress.

Throwing the baby out with the bathwater, really. Defeat alls can be very good story movers. Heck, my scrapper's origin arc (which I haven't updated since the latest round of AE tweaks, so are probably broken) has two of them - but you'd throw them out immediately, just based on the item in the list, without knowing that they're on two ridiculously small maps, which means in defeating all mobs, you're typically defeating fewer mobs than on most standard missions in the dev-created game.

Here is why I like Devian's feed so much:

See the left side? That's separate, live-updated feeds of each dev I'm particularly interested in (Castle, BackAlleyBrawler, Positron, War Witch, and JLove). I can go straight to their posts from my toolbar. With City's feed, that's impossible. Instead, I have to look up that dev, view their profile, select their statistics tab, and select their most recent posts. Or favorite that page, and have to load all the extraneous forum junk instead of getting a succinct list of their posts.

The right side? It's got their names in! I don't care to read what David Nakayama says most days, so I can easily skip his. If I put City's two feeds on my toolbar, I don't get that option. I have to click through to see who's posting.

That's why I want Devian to update the feed... or hand it over to someone else who will update it. Hell, if it were easy enough, I volunteer to do that! It's not like I'm going anywhere anytime soon!

Note for the curious (cos someone always asks): titles with the Statesman Star are posts I've viewed through the feed; titles with the generic "RSS Feed" symbol are posts I haven't.
  12. I would rather Lyrik's suggestion as well. See also: Architect window.
  13. I recommend leveling the character up quite far, then place all your slots into your low-level powers. That way, you can six-slot everything up to level 25. You can even put a few slots beyond that. If your IOs have a percentage of 20% or less (and multi-aspect IOs count each aspect separately!), they will not suffer from degradation when exemplaring down. Note that you'll lose set bonuses if you exemplar down more than 3 levels below the IOs' level, but slotting for low levels is much more about getting the best percentages out of your powers, not set bonuses.

Then, instead of doing your missions, permanently at level 8, you complete other lowbies' missions, giving them arc XP bonuses on top of cool buffs and goodies. And on top of that, you can now help lowbies up to a much higher level, in case your team gets going real good, cranking out the XP...making your little bitty level 8 worthless fairly fast.
  14. Other than giving that bio a real good grind through the Grammar Machine, it's kinda cute!
  15. My level 46 plant/rad troller would love to get rid of Radiant Aura. As it stands now, it's only used as a "stat stick" (to borrow a WoW term) - she has two slots in it for a +recovery set bonus. I almost never use it, mostly because I'm too busy using other stuff and also because it's such a pitiful heal to start with on a Controller it's hardly worth slotting anyway; I'm much more likely to turn the tide of battle with Spirit Rree's fairly considerable +regen.
  16. I drive-by buff, I will continue to drive-by buff, and I generally roll my eyes at the 1% of people who get their knickers in a twist over being buffed.

NOTE that I only drive-by buff toons under level 15, who seem to be having trouble. Meaning their health is orange/red. I buff them once and keep going. I respond to people who say thanks, and ignore (not /ignore, just don't respond) to people who whine or ***** about it.
  17. Aahhh, AnimeWarrior252! The forums were a quieter place without you...

@ Aggelakis - we have repeated BillZBubba's instruction half a dozen times now and he gives the same advice as yourself, and am positive that we are deleting the first of the two shortcuts, thanks.
Okay. Try this. Delete every shortcut on your desktop related to City of Heroes.

Once that is done, right click on your desktop and go to New... and select Shortcut. Browse to your City installation folder, and select CohUpdater.exe. Select OK or next (I forget what it says), name it, and select OK or finish (I forget again).

Run that shortcut. Does it work?
  20. Pinups doesn't mean couples. In fact, the majority of pinups is a single person/character (typically female, but there are plenty of male pinups around!)

Nor does 'romance' HAVE to be showing two people.
  21. I'ma vote for Eddy Swan, with Lousy_Day being just a BREATH behind... I was tickled by the thought of a slim breath of a girl winning the gigantic-barbell lifting contest.

BTW...Lousy_Day, dude, that piece is... is... epic.

I was glad to see Bubba, Frost and Pyro enter from the designer quarters! Good to see other types of FArt. Sad to see that the sculptor didn't make it in.

No... origin in this game means "where or how you have powers". If a character was bitten by a radioactive spider and gained super powers from it, he is science (he could be argued for mutation, depending on your view of the origin, but in *CITY'S* distinct flavors of origin, he is science). Just because he uses gadgets doesn't mean he's tech.

You are born to normal human parents. Except you can trow ice. Due to a MUTATION of your genes, you have super powers. If you pick up a flying disc to get around, that doesn't mean that the source of your powers - your ORIGIN - has changed. It just means you have a flying disc.

You are a normal being from Planet Bubar. Normal beings from Planet Bubar can jump long distances on Earth because their planet has a heavier gravity, meaning Earth's lighter gravity lends itself to longer and higher jumps. Normal beings from Planet Bubar can manipulate others mental state. You are a natural origin, because every one of your race/species can do this. As another example, a demon could be considered natural origin.

You are a normal being, but utilize gadgets and other items as almost the SOLE REASON you can be considered a super hero. Iron Man, for example. You are technology origin, because if you took away those gadgets, you wouldn't be a super hero. Note that weapons can count as technology or natural, depending on level of skill or what kind of weapon it is.

Your power comes from a magic sword, an amulet that grants magic powers, or you utilize spells and scrolls to do your job. You are, obviously, magic origin. If you take away those things, you no longer can be a super hero.

The Joker does not have any super powers. He fell into the chemicals, but that only altered his appearance. It didn't give him any powers. He uses guns and explosives and sheer ingenue. He's a flippin' psychopath. He is natural origin or tech, depending on your take on the character.

Are you running the shortcut that you should have deleted? Or are you running the shortcut that you're supposed to, the one that is pointing to your install folder?

Starting up the gaming giving you extra icons on your desktop sounds like you're running the game from the shortcut that you should have deleted during the transfer process.
