I just got a new computer and downloaded it from this site under My Account.

if you dont want to wait for the download if you have the original instal disk sometimes easier to use that and then just patch it up.
if downloading from the site you dont have to patch it up but the download will be long (4 hours minimum, 6-8 hours on slower/heavier used connections)
reinstalling the game from CD takes like 20 min but will have to patch a lot so depending on speed of connection the patch can take 30 min to 2 hours (will prolly have more than 1 patch to apply)
Am I missing something? Neither of those responses have anything to do with the question. Was there an edit made?
You might want to ask your question in the Tech section, since that sounds like a Windows 7 anomaly.
edit: Ah, I see, if they read the title and not the question, the responses would be correct.

Starting up the gaming giving you extra icons on your desktop sounds like you're running the game from the shortcut that you should have deleted during the transfer process.

Many thanks for your responsed - all useful - as if I cant clear the 'shortcut icon' problem a fresh download of the game might be another way, though my original disc might be classed as a museum piece as it's almost 6 years old it has only been used the once so is still in pristine condition.
@ Aggelakis - we have repeated BillZBubba's instruction half a dozen times now and he gives the same advice as yourself, and am positive that we are deleting the first of the two shortcuts, thanks.

Once that is done, right click on your desktop and go to New... and select Shortcut. Browse to your City installation folder, and select CohUpdater.exe. Select OK or next (I forget what it says), name it, and select OK or finish (I forget again).
Run that shortcut. Does it work?
