Exploding Lab Equipment
Gamble on it. For best results pop a bunch of purples before you actually explode the thing, as the debuffs aren't autohit (but the buffs are). The debuffs last a shorter duration as well. Then again, sometimes they'll just explode with no buff or debuff (other than the damage from the explosion, which is again avoidable).

It's Crey Roulette!

I love Lab Equipment Roulette
One time I got 3x haste buff in one room

i blow up te lab equipments whenever i get the chance in hope for buffs.
Let's see:
+Regen, -Regen,
+Recharge/Speed, -Recharge/Speed,
+Recovery, -Recovery,
+ToHit, -ToHit,
+Damage, -Damage
and Nothing - just damage from the explosion
(I think that's all of the variations)
The actual effect chosen appears to be completely random. My Defense-based toons
do seem to get good effects more often than bad ones (which if the debuffs do really
require a hit roll and the buffs don't would make sense), but I always give it a shot.

Hasten:
+70% recharge for 2m
-15 endurance cost after 2m delay
Haste:
+100% recharge for 5m
+100% run/fly speed for 5m
no endurance cost
yummmm
As I remember it, every lab has two pieces of buff equipment and two pieces of debuff. But that could just be me misremembering based on the 50/50 division.
I never knew the debuffs check against defense, though. Does anybody know what positions/types they're tagged as?
Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

I don't know for sure, but I would guess melee/aoe smashing/lethal?
According to Red Tomax's site and in-game info, they are AoE only. They have 1.3 accuracy. They are not flagged irresistable, so having (for example) slow resistance looks like it would resist Hasten.
Here's an interesting tidbit. The equipment has levels, just like normal critters, and both the debuffs and the buffs are scaled up if the equipment is higher level than you.
By the way, [Woozy] is hideous. When I get this I have to wait for it to expire before I am useful again.
Edit: It is definitely random per machine. I have gotten all debuffs, all buffs, and a mix. I have also sometimes gotten no buff even though the machine hit me with the damage. (This implies to me that the damage and the buff/debuff are separate attacks. If you look at Woozy's stats, there, it doesn't deal any damage. I'm going to guess the damaging component is AoE, Fire and Lethal typed, though it might have only one of those damage types.)

I was doing a mish this afternoon and was in the room that has the 4 giant Lab Equipment. I've never really have given this much thought until today. Normally when in mish'es either solo or in teams, no one rarely destroys this equipment.
Now, I've done it and have got bad results and either my movements may have been slowed or something else. Sometimes though, you get good results like I did today when to my surprise got a bonus +35% to damage and strength. I had to scratch my eyes to make sure I was reading that right...lol. Another time in the past, I got a super speed boost to all attacks.
So, with that being said, is there a formula to knowing if you knock this lab equipment out it will either be good or bad results? My guess is no and it is a gamble on what effect it will have on you or maybe it depends which foes you are fighting, not sure?
