Quote:/bahWell, for immersion sake, then perception would likely have to be halved. Rain/snow/fog always decreases visibility. Not to mention, AT's with physical weapons, will likely have a -ToHit. I mean, it can't be that easy to maintain a grip on your Broadsword when it's pouring down rain.
Oh, and that Stalker Hide? *pfth* just look for the rain hitting nothing in midair.
For each negative detriment you can come up with I can counter with a positive or bonus. The least of which is snipers having next to no viability. My storm characters, my electric characters, heck even my plant girl should all do better.
Bottom line, immersion and ' realism' to the point of being pedantic are not the same thing.
I could see, and would enjoy, weather related -/+ buffs for instances and missions. The outside would should involve no serious detriment for weather. Like the various invasions, winter, even the all to short time the 5th collum and that upstart group were fighting in the streets, I don't see why there can't be some world effects. If getting under cover works for avoiding ricti, it should work for precipitation as well. -
-
I for one would welcome weather! It would greatly add to the immersion! I would enjoy it's subtle and ubiquitous feel added of the game world. The game looks spiffy and wonderful and feels plastic and fake. I say make this pretend world we all enjoy and spend time being good, evil, and now indifferent have the emotional impact of an alternate dimension not that of a plastic play thing picked up at the five and dime for the amusement of a five year old.
For those who have less modern GUP's or who dislike the effects it is easy enough to add an option to disable weather on your computer.
Of course should I have to choose to have the weather right away or, say, 20 bright shiny new tiles for each set I would have to go for the new map pieces first. I have, however, wanted weather since before issue one. I loved the first time I journeyed into DA and found the dark and scary fog within. -
Quote:Ya I played with that creep too.Reminds me of a team I was on where the tank expected everyone to wait for them to "gather", or whatever, and did this for EVERY FREAKING GROUP (they had binds they used to tell us where to wait). As if that wasn't boring and annoying enough, the guy was constantly admonishing us for anything he felt was a derivation from "correct" playstyle. After he asked me to stop using nem staff, I politely removed myself from the team...
Sounds like you may have run into something similar
It was 'bad' to immob the mobs around the tank. I was told I wasnt helping, and wasnt doing any damage. (posi tf) like they know how my chain fence is slotted. -
Gale really blows. Like really really blows. (though some people seem to like it)
AV's resist debuffs (freezing rain)
Freezing rain lasts a lot longer then the animation leads you to believe.
Bonfire just wasnt quite what I expected and is situationally very powerful.
Repel can perma lock down multiple bosses if you corner them.
Tornado doesn't just do knock back and damage. It does lots of knock back and lots of damage, and stun and -resist. I have watched it eat bosses whole by itself.
Lightning storm is an AOE. It fires at the closest target to YOU the caster. The range from the cloud to target is much larger then the range away from you it will target a mob.
With lots of recharge you can stack lightning storm. With speedboost and hasten you can manage two full time. (with good slotting)
You can tank with hurricane.
Electric armor for my stalker now has a heal. (when I last played it didn't)
People will actually complain about getting a buff the gives +recharge and +end in large quantities.
Temp invulnerability (epic controller pool) is a toggle not a click.
People will always kill the mob with snow storm on it first -- no matter how many times you explain.
You can make low level mobs go a very long ways with repel.
Force bubble is very useful for a bots mastermind despite with nearly everyone says.
Force bubble/hurricane wont take knock back enhancements even though it does knockback.
Hotfeet is uber. (though it takes a ton of end redux)
Nothing eats endurance like the Storm set. NOTHING.
Fire imps arnt as cute as you think they are. (most particularly after the first few times they agro several extra groups of mobs and get you killed)
Nova/Dwarf take end mod enhancements. (built in stamina)
Tri-form Kheldians are a lot of work and even more fun.
More recently I have found (some) people dont get how controller powers work and dont know how to play with one in the group. -
-
That is how I feel sometimes... people get so stuck in "this is the right/only way to play the game" they can see the benefits of teaming etc with KB as well as with out. It just takes changing your mindset and being willing to evolve your thinking.

I am back after a mmog break.
On virtue I have two 50's and a number of alts from 1 to 39.
I am looking for a SG that is into enjoying the game. A group that is up for no to lite to medium role play, yet not afraid to talk about computers, video cards, the weather or whatever.
I very much wish to avoid any RP police.
I am also interested in playing with people who are open to a variety of in game strategies. There are many ways to solve missions.
I believe every class and AT that is well played has value and room on a team.
If I sound like a player that would fit in with and help your Super Group please let me know.
Thank you. -
I was just wondering when
" City of HeroesThe mouse cursor does not display. [259256]
This is an application issue that can be worked around in full‐screen mode by adding
compatible cursors 1 to the City of Heroes desktop shortcut.
NVIDIA is pursuing a fix with the application developer "
Is going to be fixed? In has been in every Nvidia patch notes for over 5 years now.
Not horrible or anything to look at the gimp replacement cursor... just not perfect. -
I dislike the teens... mostly because my power choices are set. A few of my peoples can do with out stamina, the rest though the levels 6-20 I have to take travel prereq - travel - then three picks from fitness.
Counting 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 thats eight power picks five of which I don't get to use my primary or secondary sets.
Of course I19 will change this a whole lot.
I solo as much or more then I team and thirty plus can slow down, yet the easy answer to that is to team up. -
Quote:One of the projects we are working on is to create more alternate animations for various powers. The animators asked me which powers I wanted to have this applied to and rather than simply come up with a list myself, I thought it would be interesting to open the discussion to you the fans.
Caveat:
Powers with Alternate Animations will still have nearly the exact same Animation Lengths, so this thread is not about creating shorter animations for various powers.
So, let's hear it! Tired of doing Backflips with Eviscerate? Sick of beating your chest like Tarzan? Eyebeams not your cup of tea? Tell us about it!
Oh and.... We HATES the animation for hasten. Loves the power, HATES the stupid glowie hands that clash with EVERYTHING. I'd even be happy having hasten have no animation.
The cone blast for Nova form for Keldans, if you miss everything as happens it looks like your doing nothing but hovering there, like to see something happen even if its an obvious dud.
Force bubble could be spiced up.... it is a tier 9 power after all, it should look impressive. I may respec back to repell though.
In general I like the electric sets, like for my stalker. Jacobs ladder could be more like an arc between two wires. (like a jacob's ladder).
I'd like to see alternate models for all the pets in the game, robots, fire imps, etc. -
All good information and I thank the providers.
I too recently returned from a bit of a COH vacation. I welcomed the changed to the market, or so I thought. I find it harder to find and get IO's as well. I havnt shopped for my 50's as yet.
I am happy for the most part using SO's leveling up, there are some IO's though that are just nifty to have. Like call of the sandman's healing proc. They just arnt to be found.
I think another change, on that was defiantly for the good, that has affected the market is the ability to email items between characters. Now just one or a few characters can do the bulk of the buying and selling. And bids for dont have to be on just the character who needs the item. -
Quote:Sadly that is going to make it impossible for one of my characters to get a haloween tip mission. You absolutely MUST be under the influence of a Costume Power (gained either from the Halloween event or via a game-code handed out at the many Cons.) in order to receive the Halloween mission Tip.
I am disappointed.
I have a tri-form peace bringer. In human only form he has a number of nifty utility powers, and two attacks. His teeth and his ability to fight lay in Nova and Dwarf form. Neither can use a costume unless things have changed from the past. -
I dont go looking to pick fights with AV's solo, however, I have beat a few with my fire/storm controller and with my peace bringer. (no temp powers used)
The peace bringer can be kinda slow, he is tri-form and I often have to go into dwarf form to survive and do almost no damage, jumping into nova form just briefly to alpha and then hide in dwarf some more and heal.
I remember fighting nemesis with my PB (or a nemesis if you prefer) and we just couldn't hurt each other much. -
IMO
Storm - Tornado could be your character twirling their hands around, like someone talking with their hands while saying mix or tornado. Some options besides the stand up like an X with your arms spread wide... could be some more castery type, and/or equipment based animations.
In general I'd like to see animations that can speak to origins: tech based, cast spell, chi-fu kinds thing etc.
I could see fire blaster doing all sorts of casts with a fire staff or sword, or burnign hands.
I just hate the squeeze your head to get the power out type animations (metalism)... could be a cold stare with energy running up and down the caster followed by eye beams or something.
I like DW sword, could add some variety though. I like DW guns so far, though I have not leveled very high. I would like to see more of a blaster type gun for the set though, a few futuristic options.
Fire control could use some work.... right now many of the animations are subtle, could make some over the top options for holds/stuns to balance it out. -
Will multiple damage procs fire off though? Or do they suppress each other so that only one goes off every 10 seconds?
What about chain powers? -
Quote:I rather like the set and animations.Your opinion is negated by mine, which holds more weight then yours, cause I have an earlier join date. Oh snap.
Static Field is the one I detest the most. The pulsing is the biggest eyesore.
Oh look, my opinion outweighs yours....... -
Across my characters I have many alts I have numerous power types.
In order to fully utilize this vast array of abilities I would like to proc them out.
Is there a comprehensive list of IO's with procs? I would greatly apreciate the use of such a list.
Thank you -
Quote:Thank you --- I was looking at energize a few days ago telling myself it didnt look familiar.Elec armor does now have a heal (energize heals you, then adds +regen and end discount for some time afterward), so you can have both. The steadfast protection resistance/+3% def is a good thing to stick in one of your armors as well (I'd recomend grounded since you'll be well over energy resist cap anyway) If you can afford it, luck of the gambler +recharge would be another good thing to stick in hide.
What did it replace? -

Quote:Nice list. I think I may use itYou can also boost your damage output through the use of damage Procs. I did a list for an SG friend of mine about what Procs could be useful for an Electric Controller and remember with chain powers (e.g. Jolting Chain) the proc has a chance to go off on each person hit.
Electric Fence
* Devastation - Chance to Hold
* Trap of the Hunter - Chance of Lethal Damage
Telsa Cage
* Devastation - Chance to Hold
* Lockdown - Chance to Hold
* Ghost Widow's Embrace - Chance of Psionic Damage
* Neuronic Shutdown - Chance of Psionic Damage
Chain Fences
* Gravitational Anchor - Chance to Hold (lvl 50 only)
* Trap of the Hunter - Chance of Lethal Damage
* Positron Blast - Chance of Energy Damage
* Possibly Energy Manipulator - Chance to Stun
Jolting Chain
* Davastation - Chance to Hold
* Explosive Strike - Chance of Smashing Damage
Static Field
*Impeded Swiftness - Chance of Smashing Damage
Synaptic Overload
* Cocophany - Chance of Energy Damage
* Malaise's Illusions - Chance of Psionic Damage -
Quote:Interesting. I will need to give this a try.Generally the Rikti pylon test is used. How much time it takes to take down a Rikti pylon...
(38343.75/time)+127.8125=DPS
38,343.75 is the amount of HP a Rikti pylon has (adjusted for resists) and 127.8125 is their regen rate (adjusted for resists).
So, your DPS rate using this measure is actually your dpsx0.8 (Rikti Pylons have 20% resistance I believe) adjusted for -res procs and -reg procs. So, a troller with high -reg or -res will be able to beat a Rikti pylon fast enough that their equivalent DPS is about 400. In other words, they can down a pylon in 2m20s... -
Thank you so very much for your reply.
As of now 'Electron Volts' is threat level 34. He is on my rotation of people in the COH universe I am currently working on developing and growing. I am also very much enjoying my Elec/Elec dominator.
I have three slots in most of my damage shields, I believe I will now work on getting them to four. I love IO's that proc. I got lucky before I took this last break in playing and got the (is it Kismet?) +6% acc, which I have slotted in hide. Are there any other good procs for resist powers?
With my offence I have three attacks that include sleep, I have call of the sandman in each (at least I think thats the set) chance to heal which is awesome. It isnt as good as a self heal power and is much better then nothing.
Thank you again for the information -
Is there a tool for measuring DPS? Or is it all meta based on build, slotting and recharge times etc?
Are there any good in game utilities like with wow?
