If you aren't getting hit, what difference does it make that you have a few less HP than a Tank?
My SS/Shield Brute plays basically the same as my Shield/SS Tank. Since they are both at soft cap and rarely get hit, HP is almost irrelevant. With a team backing them, they are both unstoppable. -
Quote:I'm going to assume it was before I13 because Stalkers are pretty much a joke when solo now.
And yet I keep seeing new ones...
Why do people even play Stalkers now when Doms and Corrs are soooooooo much better?
And to all the people that insist on playing Stalkers, learn to AS. Seriously, the Impale spam is not effective it's just annoying and demonstrates your lack of skill. -
Quote:No. And yes, yes you are. So am I.
The best thing that could possibly happen to CoX PvP is that PvPers finally give up on PvP. The zones become ghost towns. The Arenas are no longer used and people absolutely refuse to PvP untill the necessary changes are made. People start leaving by the boat loads because even though they SAY they don't want to PvP... many still want the option to PvP because it is end game content.
Then and maybe only then will the Devs actually DO something about the glaring problems with PvP. But i'm fairly convinced that until the Devs have absolute proof that their changes have killed competitive PvP (Meaning the actual DEATH of PvP) we won't see any productive movement on PvP.
Sadly, if all PvPers left it would only validate the stupid notion that PvP doesn't work in this game and that they should just move on to other things. Unless they are given an ultimatum from NCSoft the devs will probably never get back to doing anything constructive for PvP. In a way, that is probably for the best since it would make it impossible for them to **** it up any more than they have. -
Quote:Yes. Really.
I don't really PVP. But I find it somewhat...no, I find it totally atrocious that the complaint is "I can't adapt because the power customizations make it tough for me to tell what I'm being hit with and adapt."
You need to learn to read. This is about new PvPers learning the powers, not the old timers. This isn't about the veterans adapting, it's about new players being able to adapt when they are already being overwhelmed learning the retarded DR system and having to learn a whole new set of rules for PvP. -
Not that anybody should care, but I am cancelling my account. It was good for awhile, but it's not anymore. I am speaking out against the PvP garbage with the only tool that the the powers that be care about: my money. Thanks to everybody that tried so hard to make PvP good in spite of what the devs have done. I've never claimed to be one of the best around, but I'm better than I could have been thanks to the help of some of the great players I've had the privelege of knowing. Keep up the good fight.

When my daughter was less than a year old, she had an "explosive event" while I was watching her. It was bad. Somehow it managed to completely bypass the diaper she was wearing and ended up all over her, the seat she was in, and the floor.

Oh I see how it is. Just gonna leave the Sirens Call ghetto to police itself. Just like the man to leave us hangin cause we all to 'po to live in the fancy RV. A'ight, its all good. We just be bustin up the fiteklub our own selves. We dont need you. -
I sepent an hour in Freedom Sirens Call last night busting up FC by myself. WHERE WERE YOU GUYS!!
Never a FC cop around when you need one. -
A few things to keep in mind:
Players are not AVs. Players can actually think and use tactics that the AI cannot. They will (generally) not sit there oblivious to your presence until you attack. Just as importantly, they will attempt to get the jump on you when you are unprepared. They will sneak up on you. It's not anything personal, it's just good tactics. Remember, they aren't playing to be nice. They are playing to win. And you should too.
Also, DM/SR is about as far from optimal as you can get in PvP. The reasons for that is because DM lacks significant burst damage, it's secondary effect is laughable in PvP, and defense in general is a joke. When the devs redesigned PvP to be more noob friendly, they made burst damage the only thing that matters. Secondary effects of attacks were rendered irrelevant because the devs felt they were too much of a factor. The devs also felt that not being able to hit somebody when underslotted for accuracy was no fun, so they nerfed the hell out of defense, essentially making it useless.
The irony is that in their attempt to eliminate FoTM builds, the devs actually made them a requirement for PvP. With a lot of really expensive IOs, you might be able to make DM/SR mediocre at best in zones. Sorry. -
While I completely agree that Psi is better than Sonic, in all fairness it isn't really a bonus for Psi to have one more attack than Sonic. Unless you're facing massive -recharge, three attacks is all any Blaster really needs.
But yeah, delayed damage ftw. -

People keep forgetting how annoying it is when theres more than 4 Stalkers in the zone. Some of them just hide somewhere, then pops BU/Aim and 2 shot a good Blaster!
[/ QUOTE ]
fixed. -
Yeah, the guard towers are stupid. At the very least they should put doors on all four sides. Make the Stalkers work to get their TP kills instead of just blocking one door.
-
Really? You know there are several spots inside the villain complex where a Blaster can shoot people coming out the door of the hospital. I don't mean sniping from hover, I mean right outside the door where it is pretty much impossible to avoid getting killed if you aren't hauling [censored] to get away. I only know of one place in the hero complex that can come close to that kind of proximity, and even that is easy to avoid.
I suggest situational awareness as a counter to hospital campers. We don't need more drones thanks. -

Experience > slotting
[/ QUOTE ]
This.
Although I did face one guy that was the exception to the rule. His Fire Blaster had every damage proc that he could possibly slot and completely wrecked my Corr when they all fired on almost every attack. I took almost as much damage from the procs as I did from the attacks themselves. Every time I faced him I was dead in three shots no matter what I did. So mad. -
[ QUOTE ]
The placate proc is also ridiculously powerful for psy, which no other blaster has access to.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sonic also has a sleep attack that can take the Placate proc. It sucks for damage but it can slot it.
Just saying. -
[ QUOTE ]
This is what you do. Get your dominater. Invite one of the 18 stalkers in the zone to your team. Call blaster as the target. Hold said blaster. Laugh as he gets AS'd and you pile on the rest of your damage.
Dead blaster.
[/ QUOTE ]
pssht, teams are for noobs yo. Any real PvPer can take the whole zone solo without popping.

Bam there it is, yet another reason NEVER to PvP.
I don't PvP. People like that have turned me off of PvP for quite some time now.
[/ QUOTE ]
To the contrary, that is exactly the reason to PvP.
There are few things in this game more satisfying than curbstomping some jerk hole that thinks he's a big dog. -
[ QUOTE ]
For example, since the changes to Dominator's, how many "successful" TA's have you seen in zones? Honestly...I haven't seen one. Is it coincidence that when Villains finally recieved REAL ranged damage via Dominators that TA wielders suddenly dissapeared? Or is there a direct connection. A cause and reaction? I for one, don't think it's coincidence. The fact that a Dominator can now ruthelessly attack a TA wielder with good ranged damage, in the same fashion that a Blaster would, their roles and benifits have become ALOT less noticeable. They simply do not survive long enough in your average zone setup (where finding a good healer, or healer at all is hard) to really cause much impact.
[/ QUOTE ]
This.
I had been leveling up a TA troller before the Dom buffs, but he's gonna get deleted most likely since theirs no way I'll use him now. -
Sure, the first one you have to take lol. Power Thrust is actually really funny against Fire Tanks/Brutes that think Acro is enough to protect them. I still take Total Focus even though I almost never use it. I just get a kick out of it because in my head I hear the Mortal Kombat guy saying "FATALITY!" when I go up in the air.

I don't taunt bot without support. That's just stupid. If I'm "Tauntbotting" it's probably for other toons. So while "pop out" they'll be popping off in your face. You can try that though...we'll see how it goes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why is it assumed that the range AT in question is solo? While I keep said taunt bot busy, my team is tearing up his team, or tearing up the taunter. Teams work both ways. Just as you wouldn't taunt solo, I wouldn't bother attacking a taunter solo. Like you said, that's stupid. And since most taunt bots are Tanks, it's also boring as hell. Tanks that teamed get ignored. Tanks that are solo get torn up. Taunt hasn't changed that.
Realistically, the minus range in Taunt has done nothing but increase the time it takes to kill the taunter. It hasn't gotten more kills for the taunter or his team. No PvPer worth anything will decide to go all melee with a Tank or Brute just because he got taunted. That would be stupid. -
Yeah, because taunt has such a huge impact now...
The counter tactic remains the same. Jump around the corner and wait for it to wear off, then come back in blazing and get off two or three shots before they taunt again.
Rinse and repeat until taunt bot is dead. -

I find it funny how some folk refer to blasters HP capping with hoarfrost. Any decent blaster build is capped at 1606 anyway. Hoarfrost is a slow recharging heal.
[/ QUOTE ]
Seriously, the only people who benefit from the +HP are the ones too lazy to get the accolades or too poor to get the IOs.
Admitedly, I often fall into the first catagory, but the second isn't that hard. -

I understand where your coming from with the "Why play @ 50?". We can either go PvP, do farm missions, or do TF/SF's. TF/SF's are pretty much just more critters, on more maps, which we've been doing for 50 levels. This game doesn't have any real endgame content. Hami Raid? Pretty boring imho, and a rikti raid. How many times are you gonna want to run the 2 raids this game has lol. Pretty much the point of the OP was that this game is severly lacking in end game content, and the point of this game is the "journey", not the ending. Which sucks.
[/ QUOTE ]
On the contrary, it certainly does not sucks. Best to have a good time and fun while playing the 1-50 levels than only start playing once you are 50.
And once you get to 50 for the first time and realize there is nothing so special about it, maybe people should take their time and enjoy the ride with their next alts? No! They rush to AE to get PLed to 50 once more! Go figure...
Problem is not the game. Problem is the players. It's all in their head.
[/ QUOTE ]
So why can't we have both? Why can't we have exciting dynamic leveling and an endgame that keeps people coming back for more after 50?
It seems they tried, and for some succeeded with the addition of PvP as engame content, but that clearly doesn't appeal to many, and the rules overhaul did nothing to help that. Hami raids were another attempt that was moderately successful but that was never more than a social event for people with top of the line computers.
No, enjoying the journey to 50 is important, but this game does need something more in the way of 50 only endgame content. -
I've never really seen the reason fo the high price on it. If your defense is so close to the soft cap that you would want that extra 3%, then it is high enough that the 3% gets DRd down to almost nothing. That 600 million is gonna net you about .5% after DR. Not worth it in my opinion, but I don't have 600 million sitting around to spend on such things. I might think differently if I did.
