Well, fun is like taste... non disputande.
But as far as difficulty, if it seems that by I21 there aren't speed Keyes and people still haven't achieved the MoKeyes Accolade in the same rate as previous iTrials and TFs, then I will encourage the Devs to datamine that, and if it is indeed the case, I personally, will be lobbying for the Keyes mechanics to lighten up a bit. -
Quote:The Mo.. badges are harder than the TF/Trial itself. Definitely. The MoSTF and MoRSF might be trivially easy for some people, that doesn't mean that the badges are trivially easy for everyone. And even if the badges were trivially easy for some, that does not mean that they are well designed badges. If the badges you mention were trivially easy to get, I'd have 8 characters with all the badges, not just 1 or two.
At most, the badges are trivially easy for you. Again, that doesn't mean the badges are well designed.
This thread began as a complaint of the mechanics of the Keyes Trial, not how hard the Mo.. badge requirements are. I brought up the Mo.. badges because some regarded them as 'impossible'... and yet, they are not in fact impossible seeing how they were achieved in the first week of I20.5 and are starting to be obtained more and more frequently.
The "ZOMG AUTO-HIT DAMAGE MUST GOOOO TOO HARD!!!!" hysteria is what I'm targeting as being false.
And just because you or others are saying "It may be easy *for you* but it's too hard for me," you're not realizing the opposite is just as valid...
"It may be too hard *for you*, but it's easy for me."
And if it's easy for me... and others... than it is not necessarily "too hard for everyone."
And if it's not too hard for everyone... then that's a pretty good mechanic for end game content; and it doesn't have to, and shouldn't be made easier and easier until *everyone* can do it easily. -
Quote:From the point of view of your character, he's as famous as Queen Comet. He shows up as you begin your super career and promptly dies, getting no more famous as Queen Comet. The Brawler is one of the most famous heroes in Paragon. Just because you're starting out your career as a newbie hero doesn't mean you've never heard of him.
People keep mistaking the knowledge they know as a player, or the knowledge and experience their level 50 has with what a character starting out in the tutorial knows or has experienced. -
Quote:And I love it when you spout off this kind of tripe.I love it when people roll out this tripe time and time again...
"It's not hard. *I* can do it! Why can't you? Gawd!"
Mind you, Keyes, to me, is a bigger pile of fail than the love-child of Hamidon and the Abandoned Sewer Trial. All the auto-hit insta-kill, none of the clever mechanics, none of the fun...
It is exactly the same scenario from the STF, LRSF, Hami Raid, ITF, Apex, Tin Mage, BAF, and Lambda.
Every time there is someone just like you, if not you, who nerdrages over how hard it is and how the mechanics isn't fair.
And then the playerbase learns to adjust to the new mechanics and makes each of these trivially easy, and thus making your 'tripe' trivially petty. -
Quote:If BAB is killed during the tutorial, his death is totally, completely pointless and without meaning. In the CoH universe, he would be just simply some backstory guy who dies the moment you begin you super career. It wouldn't be the end of the world if he had to be removed from the LRSF. Someone else could appear in the third mission in his stead, like one of the Vindicators that doesn't appear in the SF, and the last mission is stupid hard for all but the most prepared/incarnated teams, so removing one of the AVs would be a good change.
I do think it would make it a more meaningful change, though.
Don't forget Shadowhunter!
You're confusing knowledge of BAB you have from one alt to another alt.
It will never happen. Asking for it to happen is completely missing the point of a storyline of your alt progressing from Level 1 to 50.
Shadowhunter 'dies' in your 40s. That's different. -
BAB will be a signature NPC Contact or Ally in the tutorial. If he is 'killed off', then the LRSF will have to remove him along with any other arc that references him, because, the tutorial represents an event that happens before all other events your character may encounter in the game. He will thus become just some no-name that dies in the tutorial.
So... no. And no. And no. -

Groups are already starting to pick up the 'impossible' MoKeyes Accolade and learning how to speed it in the process (nearly getting all terminals unlocked even before AM shows up).
It's not hard. It's just new tactics to get used to. There is no need to reduce the difficulty. -
Galaxy's destruction is a done deal. There's no reversing that decision since the tutorial is in playable condition already. The Devs will not spend the resources to destroy 'something else.'
Making an Echo of Galaxy accessible by other means than a level 14 gate Ouroboros zone is doable. We just got to keep asking them to do it.
-
Since we already have ported powersets that were previously said "would never be done" or "would be too over powered" or "would be too weak and broken" and those ports worked out fine, I tend to disregard any other such similar statements about other ports.

Welcome to my personal heck.Quote:Hello! Do you people even read the replies in Announcements? I mean, really. This is two patches in a row where people have questions about the validity of the patch notes, and there isn't a single redname response.

Skippy Sidekick is in charge of overseeing patch notes I discovered. Maybe a PM to him would get things straightened out. -
Quote:FPAAMS!*No time to play anything aside from COH these days. I've still got several PS3 games sitting on my shelf unopened.
And thanks...a regimen of Ultimate Frisbee twice a week and cardio every other day has been helping with the weight loss.

They have moved contacts out of one zone into another before. Remember when the 3rd tier Terra Volta Trial contact was in the original Rikti Crash Site?Quote:Crap, I forgot Shadowstar! D:
And BAB's not going to be a trainer now?? D: D: D:
BAB is now a signature NPC contact and/or ally for the GC tutorial. -
Quote:You know, I agree with you. At least the part that Dominators have the least combos and that maybe something could have been done this round (Illusion or Dark Assault). What the hell math are you using? Is that the 'new math' I keep hearing about in schools? Maybe explains our international standing.
Blasters have 77 combos now (11 primaries x 7 secondaries); 60 before this proliferation. Dominators have 49 (7 primaries x 7 secondaries).
If you consider the APPs/EPPs, blasters have 9 choices and doms have 8. 77 x 9 = 693 vs 49 x 8 = 382. That's over 300 more.
You know what the 'good' news for doms is going to be post-I21? That blasters won't be getting any farther ahead as they've gotten EVERYTHING proliferated for them that's possible.
Join the protest!!!
However, since Synapse went out of his way to anticipate this concern and excitedly announce special good stuff for Dominators post-I21, I don't feel the need to "protest!!".
You have to get through the dark times before you get to the Light times. -
Quote:Well, Dark Manipulation Support is getting Dark cobbled together from existing Dark sets, so, the devs see it as such.I don't know if I'd call Dominator and Blaster Secondaries port. But rather new sets.
Basically, if they don't have to come up with new animations but can scrounge them from elsewhere, it's a proliferation. Once they get the animators involved, it's "new". -
Quote:Characters created in the Training room have never and never been will be able to be transferred to a Live Server.I did the 7 day free trial and then decided to purchase the game. I'm trying to transfer a character I created in the Training room to a server such as Freedom. I have submitted a question to support, but so far they have been extremely unhelpful
. The character copy doesn't work to bring a character from the training room to a live server. Any help will be most appreciated.
It's only one way: Live -> Training.
That's because the Training room is supposed to be a temporary environment where the contents can be wiped at any time. Also, in the course of testing stuff, the Training Room can have unusual environments set up in it, e.g., auto-leveling a toon from 1 to 50. It wouldn't be fair and would short-circuit all the game mechanics to let an auto-leveled toon into the Live environment.
Also, since we can copy from Live to Training as often as we want, we can duplicate large amounts of in-game currency and rare loot and move them all onto one toon. That loaded toon would break the Live economy if we allowed it to be copied over or transferred from Training.
Edit: Scooped! -
Quote:Added Radiation to Assault and Support under Proliferation.Radiation Assault could be done - Dominators don't NEED a matching primary (Blasters don't have matching secondaries for Radiation, Sonic, or Archery). Simply take tiers 1-7 from Radiation Blast and two of the melee attacks wielded by the Shivan enemies.
And added Radiation to more conceptual new sets.
Oops. I had Stalker Melee sets that needed proliferation but skipped the Stalker Defense Sets. Now added. -
Here is a spreadsheet of powersets as they will be in Issue 21.
To read the sheet, go by columns. Take for example the Melee Powersets in the first column. There are 18 different Melee Powersets. Tankers and Scrappers have access to 13 of them; Stalkers, 11; and Brutes 14.
Still going down, you see that Scrapper and Brutes have access to Katana. Tankers only have access to Ice Melee. And so on.
Yellow highlights are the I21 Proliferation 3.0 Powersets. The salmon highlights are the new powersets in I21.
So, what's left to proliferate?
Proliferation of Existing Sets
Scrapper Melee:
- Ice

- Kinetics
Controller Control:
- All sets already
Controller Buff:
- Dark Miasma

Proliferation of Concepts
If you take a look as this spreadsheet, it shows what type of powers, conceptually, have been proliferated into different powerset categories.
So, take a look, for example, at Fire in the first row. Fire (or 'Thermal') is represented in every powerset category. So that means you can have a Fire/Fire Anything AT, right? Not so fast. It won't be until Issue 21 that Fire Blast will be proliferated to Defenders. So, until then, you can't have a Fire/Thermal Defender.
But once everything is proliferated to every set, then that means you can have a PowerTypeX/PowerTypeX Anything AT, right? Not so fast. Even if all powersets are proliferated to all ATs, there are still some gaps in proliferating the Conceptual Power Type to every Powerset Category. So, for example, there is no Dark Control nor Dark Assault. This means you can't have a Dark/Dark Controller or Dominator.
Now, some concepts just don't make sense to be in every Powerset Category. There will be no War Mace Control Set or Dual Pistols Melee (and just because you can conceive of it cartoonishly happening, doesn't mean it's justifiable).
But the gaps in the spreadsheet show where future *new* powersets can go by extending the concepts of some Powerset Categories to other Categories. The obvious gaps are:
Electricity:
- Buff
Energy:
- Control
- Buff
Radiation:
- Control
- Melee
- Defense
Dark:
- Control
- Support
Archery:
- Control
- Assault/Support (mixed with Traps/Devices)
Spines:
- Ranged
Storm:
- Control
- Ranged
- Assault/Support
Plant:
- Summoning
- Buff
Illusion:
- Summoning
- Buff
Time:
- Control
Gravity:
- Buff
Stone/Earth:
- Summoning
- Ranged
- Buff
Mechanical:
- Power Gloves/Arms Melee (toons limited to armored hands/arms)
- Armor Defense (toons limited to armor costumes)
- Traps/Devices/Miniature Robotics Control
Shields:
- Assault/Support
Blasting Melee Weapon:
- Like the Arachnos Mace a weapon that can be swung in melee and shoots stuff. This would be a forced-paired Ranged and Assault/Support set for Blasters and Dominators (no redraw!). There could be versions of Fist Blades, Swords, Maces, Axes, Bayonettes, etc....

Quote:Ever been to a Hami Raid? Its funny you say that because ever since issue 5 I have never seen a regen as the last man standing.
Where there is unresistable damage, Regen is king. Period.
Regen has no 'holes' in their defenses, either. Psi damage, toxic damage... it's all the same to Regen. The Psychic Clockwork King is no bit scarier than any other AV.
Can other defense sets do better in other situations? Sure. Is Regen always the first man out... hardly. -
