Not wanting my ambush to be ignorable by 12 ATs and brutal to 2, I dropped the ambush altogether.
Have you considered creating a custom group of recolored Lanaruu (sp?) elementals? I have no idea if they can be fully recolored though (and can the name be changed?) but it may be worth considering!
  2. Character: Narcine (Elec/Shield Scrapper)
    Setting: +3/x8/NoBosses/NoAVs
Task: Council America Map, ran 3 times (!) in 1 hour.

    a) Inf from Enemy Kills: 9,008,264
    b) Inf from Vendor Sales: 2,972,703
    c) Total: 11,980,967

Quite the jump! 2.5M more than the +1/x8/Bosses run. No bosses means no chance for Pool C/D drops, and less recipes (note how the influence from drops went down despite having cleared half a map more, though it's close enough that it may not be that important), but a noticeable jump in inf earning, which may make it worth it.

    Stuff I didn't sell:

9 pieces of rare salvage (!)
    Armageddon: Dam/Rech/Acc (Score!)
    Adjusted Targeting: To Hit Buff/Rech
    Thunderstrike: Acc/Dam
    Thunderstrike: Dam/End/Rech
  3. Okay, here we go.

    Character: Narcine (Elec/Shield Scrapper)
    Setting: +1/x8/Bosses/NoAVs
Task: Council America Map, ran 2 1/2 times in 1 hour.

    a) Inf from Enemy Kills: 5,988,938
    b) Inf from Vendor Sales: 3,501,078
    c) Total: 9,490,016

Deleted a bunch of common salvage due to filling up. Got two pieces of rare salvage, and set recipes:

    Adjusted Targeting: Rech.
Dark Watcher's Despair: To Hit DeBuff.
    Efficacy Adaptor: Rech/Acc.
    Glimpse of the Abyss: End/Fear.
    Nightmare: Acc/End.
    Red Fortune: Def/End/Rech.

Deleted a handful of crappy snipe/immob/whatnot recipes during the runs due to filling up, heh.

Anyway, I'm logging all this stuff, and I'm going to do a few more runs with different difficulty settings (try higher level, lower level, bosses/nobosses) to see how it compares. For starters, she's made about 3x as much as I did with my Elec/Elec brute.

EDIT: Forgot to sell the enhancement drops, heh. 120k is nice change, though nothing spectacular.

You know, when comparing with the old low level stuff, I'm sure many of us could name a number of MiA arcs that top them, easily.

I remember they hinted sometime that making player created arcs part of the "outside world" was something they did contemplate. This is probably a great reason to do it. Not like "hold a contest for best Posi TF remake" hasn't been suggested before...

Seriously, they could plunder the MiA and fill Atlas, Galaxy, Steel Canyon, Mercy Island, all the lower level zones to the brim with contacts and arcs for all levels - all reviewers in the MiA forum have found some stuff they'll qualify as good, or even great. It still needs time to go through arcs, testing, and selecting, and of course it'd be their responsibility to maintain them after that, but I'm sure it'd save them a lot of work. And it's not like they can't be editors and change arcs when moving them outside the MiA building to fit their gameworld (hopefully, NOT to add travel time!).
  5. I'll take my new Elec/Shield scrapper for a spin. I suspect she'll be able to top the numbers I had on my Elec/Elec brute.

Hehehe. I still remember the crazies of the heroic instances during the burning crusade launch. One of my favourite were the coilfang... ****, was it champions? The ones that were "guarding" passageways down in the reservoir instances and came in pairs. They hit so hard that the encounter was sometimes harder than the bosses depending on the team The fact that most of my guildies (and I) we were fresh at 70 and likely a bit on the undergeared side didn't help... probably...

    "The sheep broke!! THE SHEEEEEP!!

    *SPLAT*"

Good times. I was a bit sad when they went and toned down all those mobs, but only because I enjoy human suffering. Well, that, and I no longer woke up in a cold sweat dreaming of a sheep suddenly turning into a giant scaly serpent and cutting me in half.

I love the new difficulty slider of CoH though, now if only they would add different rewards for using the enemy buffed/player debuffed settings, it'd be awesome.
  7. I've got an arc for low level characters, #1345, "Jumping in Feet First". It's been tweaked with the latest on custom power selections (making the allies a lot less powerful, and making the encounters smaller due to the reduced help, should feel a lot more like a proper low level arc) and I'd be happy to have some feedback

    Thanks! Hope you like it!

  9. Does Confront/taunt for scrappers reduce the range of GW's hold?

If yes, how much immobilize you need to freeze her in place?

If not much, how many immobilizes can you get with a buncha Scrappers?

If enough, can you outrange with taunt the reduced range of the hold?

    Hmmm...

W Peace, how on earth you get those resistances for /SD scrappers? Am I missing something here?
  10. Well, if you want gambling, you could do it ala Diablo II, but adapted for CoH.

100 inf x level for a random minion-level drop (i.e., anything a minion your level can drop).
200 inf x level for a random lieutenant level drop.
500 inf x level for a random boss level drop.

Or more if you feel particularly evil.

As it was proposed up there, buying tickets could work too.

As for recluse the difficulty is that he has massive accuracy/tohit (not sure which) and I would expect an uber specced /SR would be best, someone who has aimed for the crazy heights of 60-70% defence! Supported probably by 2 shield scrappers with aid other and grant cover while the rest beat down the towers.
Maybe I'm biased (well, okay, I'm hugely biased), but Actin, my DM/Inv, stands at 56.5% S/L and 51.5% E/N defense when 10 enemies are in range, i.e., after a bane summon by Recluse, and is without a doubt ahead in terms of self-healing (Dull Pain + Siphon Life). I think I could probably cram a bit more defense for those two categories in the build if I ignore Fire/Cold def and/or remove a bit of recharge (or drop a fortune in a PvP IO). Plus the alleged Shielders with grant cover and/or manoeuvres, I don't see a /SR scrapper tanking Recluse much better than her.

As far as GW goes, Unyielding + Unstoppable puts one at 27.6 mez protection, an Escape gives 20 for 90 seconds (so you'd need four), and with 8 scrappers at the softcap beating the snot out of her at full tilt I believe it should be possible to drop her before unstoppable runs out. Why bother with Stimulants?

    They're more of a guideline...

That aside, I'm likely to have two MMO subscriptions going once SW:ToR is released. Other than that, I am finding myself playing less and less videogames lately, recent Elec/Shield scrapper madness notwithstanding... <_< >_>

I think I'm burned out of fantasy games, so Aion isn't really tempting me at all. Shame, looks shiny, but I know I'll be bored before the startup month would be up.

Yep. EDIT: Hm, I may have gotten the name wrong? It should look something like this:

    Code:
                                    .............
                               .....

Wouldn't an arcsecant curve be better with a fast initial positive slope, then a diminishing returns asymptote?
The idea is to promote specialization by requiring non-trivial investment to reach the highest returns, so as to limit the minmax of being able to combine several skills that give a large return just for a few points. Spreading the points to have several abilities would have a higher cost that way. The exact shape (or the steepness/shallowness of the different parts of the curve) is not as important as the general idea.

I always thought it would be better to use a sigmoid for returns, start with increasing returns for investment in a single skill, then diminishing after certain point.

The proc's not there to recharge Thunder Strike.

It's there to recharge Lightning Rod and Shield Charge, which should already be at 90%+ recharge
  16. It's a shame that my villain server is Champion, I have a MA/EnA stalker that would have loved this thing. I have been able to last more than two minutes "tanking" Rommy in a PuG team wipe where the Fire/ tank wasn't doing too well (returning player, old SOs build, no big deal but we did wipe a few times ). In fact, she can scrap it quite well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5u3dxo2txs.

Once the autohit Nictus is out, you should be able to dogpile Rommy no problem. In fact, if you can split it, take the autohit nictus down while someone keeps the rest busy should work too. All you need is a stalker that can scrap it! And repress the urge to use Placate

That said, congratulations on getting this done, ranged pwnage works too after all
  17. Try the Force Feedback +Rech proc in TS, I don't know if it's placebo effect or what (the mechanics of that proc make my head hurt) but it seems to go off a lot, and it's TASTY!
  18. Honestly, I have never encountered this "too much freedom" problem. I don't have a problem choosing a "less awesome" option if it looks interesting. I love building characters.

Gimme enough rope, even if the least imaginative people will end up hanging themselves with it!
  19. Aliana Blue

    All Scrapper STF

Great job indeed! Actin is itching to have a brush with Recluese one of these days. Now I only need a group of scrappers on Victory playing at Oceanic times
  20. I am sure a Fire/Shield/Blaze will be a beast, but I'm having far FAR FAR too much fun with my Elec/Shield so far. She is BRUTAL, there's just no other way to describe it. Shield Charge + Lightning Rod is just awesome. I haven't even gotten to the softcap yet, 30% at all positions is enough because everything dies so fast! Level 42, Can't wait to get to 50 and have Fireball and have the proper sets slotted instead of freakish frankenslotting on everything.

I run at x4 instead of x8 because that way I can pull two spawns together for the SC + LR (or three if one of the spawns has two bosses), much faster when doing story arcs for the merits. Those clear alls aren't so bad this way

Best way to keep an eye on it is to get Dropstats:

    http://www.glasspaw.com/dropstats/

It'll run through the logs, analyze the drops and tell you what you should expect and what you're actually getting. Very handy tool!

Very odd market times ahead methinks.
Well, one thing it does is explain why the Bronze Rolls in AE are priced as they are. Some people couldn't stop complaining about how cheap they were. Apparently, they were priced just about right if recipes outside AE had been dropping as they were supposed to.

why? Well, take a look at what it says at the top:

    VOID WHERE PROHIBITED
Either they believe that whatever they put in the conditions applies (in which case the "void where prohibited" will cover them), or they think that all the legalese posted somewhere in a website isn't worth its weight in excreta.

Even worse, they ARE selling the product in Europe - as in, it's officially supported. It's beyond idiotic that they're not willing to look at the European directives and adjust the conditions to them too.
