I've avoided floating / merging items, because I'm paranoid that future changes to the base editor will render all of my efforts obsolete / bugged. Still, what we have done, following the original 'placement rules' is definitely something to be proud of

I like the idea of a Valkyrie costume pack. It's got gorgeous pieces in, from what I can see, and I'll be happy to pay for it, just as I did with the Cyborg pack. If people want it, they can pick it up - it's hardly going to be 'over-priced'.
CoX isn't big on 'chargable expansions', and LOTS of free content comes out regularly (or at least, 'regularly enough'). I'm happy that they charge for additional/optional extras. I get them because I like them, and the prices don't bother me - and no, I'm not 'minted' in the slightest.
Keep up with the optional extras!!! -

I would like to be able to log in and 'start' in my base. It's our center of operations, and most of the time when I log in, I have SG / base 'admin' to do before I start 'hero'ing -
Currently, I'm just soloing a few flashbacks to play low level content that I've never played before on my character, whilst collecting influence (it's a long way to that next badge) and PVP-ing. Oh, and the odd Task Force. My view on merits, therefore, is 'blinkered', as I'm only seeing it from a 'level 50' perspective - and from that perspective, the system seems fine.
Not poo-pooing your comments - just saying that it works for 50's - perhaps biased in its design? -
It's an MMORPG - Perhaps the RPG side of the game would benefit from it?
I am grateful for your input, Ravenswing. I look forward to seeing what others have to say. -
US Agent - Shield
Patriot - Shield
Ares - Axe
Hawkeye - Bow
Ronin - Sword
Swordsman - Sword
Hercules - Mace
Beta Ray Bill - Hammer
Quasar - Sword
Taskmaster - Shield
Take your pick. Plenty of Marvel characters weild weapons that aren't guns, that could be 'considered' fantasy. Not all of them are 'myths', either.
I agree with the OP. The fantasy side of comics is definitely present, but not dominant. Heroes can have weapons that aren't guns - they lead to better battles.
They say that there is more honour in a sword than a gun - why? Because you can shoot a man from a distance and never see his face as he falls to the ground. However, to take him on face to face with a sword, you must look him in the eyes as you defeat him. And...yeah, stuff. -
HUMBUG!
(They have stripes :P - See? Nice and relevant - and seasonal, too...) -
With the expansion of Issue 13, my SG's base has become more...'impressive' - certainly more 'us'. So much so - we actually want to name it - it's going to turn into a mini-SG contest.
I've put a post in the suggestions thread about having the ability to 'name' your base (most hero HQ's have names in comics). Given that the 'base forum posters' are here, I was hoping to point you across to the Suggestions thread to put your opinions in - if you think it's a good idea, chuck your '/signed' in, and let's put some weight behind it -
Easy enough - I was expecting it to read something like:
New Guardians - [Base Name]
[Co-allied SG] - [Base Name]
[Co-allied SG] - [Base Name]
...
Our base is accessible to our Co-allies, and also specific teams (based on who is the leader). That means that it can certainly be 'seen'. If I lead a team, and need them to cross Paragon quickly, I'll lead them through my base - they're going to see it then - so why not? It's a nice, small, touch, that would give bases a little bit more of a unique feel, per SG -
My suggestion was for it to be something that was shown in game, rather than just 'shared' between those in the SG. Something that your SG can set.
-
Ok - so the Avengers have 'Avengers Mansion', and more recently, 'Avengers Tower'.
Batman had the 'Batcave'
Superman had the 'Fortress of Solitude' (? I don't do DC ?)
The Freedom Force (a game that you should check out on the PC if you like the fun of Golden Age comics!) had the 'Freedom Fortress'.
When you click on the base portal, you see 'YOUR BASE', and then the SG names of any co-allied SGs - why not allow us to name our bases? -
A 'flush ALL salvage into rack' would be nice, too
-
Is anyone else concerned that if you build a 'raidable' base now (vault, anchors, raid telepad, turrets, defences, etc - just to be 'ready') that they'll come along and change the raids so significantly that it's all massively redundant?
-
Re-built your base yet?
OH YES - expansion a-go-go! We received about ten million prestige from the refund and I've been putting it to good use
Made a Captain America Clone yet?
No, and I'm not likely to. I may 'make' the character in the character creator, just to see if it's possible - but I wouldn't roll it out. That's just wrong :P
Converted your salvage to brainstorms yet?
Oh yes. All done. Bye bye Base Salvage.
Lost a crafted item behind a base wall yet?
No, but came close. The base editor is quite tricky, what with it being royally borked, and all.
Petitioned a Captain America Clone yet?
No. If I see one, I might :P
Converted your brainstorms to salvage yet?
Oh yes - done done done! Plenty of nice rare salvage
Earnt a merit yet?
Nope. Am running Manticore's Task Force this evening with my SG, so that's next on the list.
Done a boring TF just for the merits yet?
See above. 'No', however. I quite enjoy Manti's Anti-Crey Smash-fest!
Done a dual build yet?
Nope. Probably won't for some time, as I still have to respec my primary build.
Done a respec yet?
See above. Am currently working on a new 'build' (thanks to Hero Designer) for my hero. Once that's all laid out correctly, I'll respec it, and consider a second build (perhaps a 'solo' build, without teleport friend, healing powers, etc)
Realised you should have done the dual build after the respec yet?
N/A :P
Decide to not play a character just for the day job yet?
I only have one character! He'll get the dayjobs eventually... -
That would be best.
I'm just scared of a message saying "There are items in your base that are preventing this option from being activated" - without telling you WHERE they are. Big bases, beware, lol. -
Ok then - downsize my pants to hold less than my massive vault, though ?? :P
-
I believe the phrase is 'one step at a time'
The next step should be the fansite alliance, lol :P -
Don't panic, GR - I was saying the 'old' list had dead links. The new one looks fine - except it's missing ours ;o)
Thanks for your response, though, it's appreciated. I look forward to hearing how / when we can submit new applications to join the alliance. -
Yeah, I found that the 'use a non-broken wall' tactic worked to - however, the result is that the item is in the right position - but is one space away from the wall itself.
I'm glad they are going to fix it - but I'm worried about what will happen to my 'floating' wall items, when it does get fixed... -
My SG has loved the prestige refund. As I've said elsewhere, the last two days have seen me overhaul our base entirely - and for the first time ever, introduce some more 'themed' decoration, rather than just using every speck of prestige on 'functionality'.
I've still got a nice amount left, and so I think another expansion is necessary
What I'm wondering is - when you 'opt in' to the base raiding 'rules', will it show you where you base breaks those rules, so that you can make the changes necessary to allow raiding?
I've done what I can to avoid intersecting my items (the concept just scares me - and looks daft a lot of the time). -
We have three set up in our primary workshop (one for each level of Invention Salvage rarity). We'll just have to see if that's good enough.
Personally, I don't understand how:
A set of shelves can only hold 30 pieces...
A vault can hold 50 pieces...
And yet my hero-tights can carry 80 pieces.
It's ridiculous. I believe that this needs to be looked at before the next patch. The vault AND the racks should at LEAST be able to hold MORE than what a hero can. Otherwise we've all just become Slapstick from the New Warriors (infinite pockets). -
Fansite Alliance Page (within 'Community'):
- Vector 5 / Infector V is repeated twice (the extra line could be taken by the New Guardians site!!! :P )
Also:
"ATTENTION! We are currently not accepting any new submissions. This is only temporary while we evaluate the fan site program. Please note that all current fan sites will remain online. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."
This sucks - the last Fansite Alliance list was full of dead links and MASSIVELY out of date. Now it is being 'evaluated'. Let's hope that doesn't mean 'removed because it's too much effort to maintain'.
Other than that - yes, the new site *is* shiny. The Fansite Alliance was the one thing I really wanted to see all spanglied up - especially since they've done away with the hero / city sights section - meaning far less content for the community team to juggle.
