Name: Acanous
Age: Unknown, somewhere between 24 and 2,369 years of age.
Origin: Magic
AT: Scrapper, Dark Melee/Dark Armour/Body Mastery.
Acanous teleported into Paragon city at the end of the first Rikti invasion. After being "Found" by Manticore and Synapse, as his method of teleportation is quite similar to Rikti tech, he was given the chance to aid in the city's restoration.
Not fully trusting this extradimensional being, especially after discovering that he's effectively immortal and mystically bound to the Void, Longbow "Requested" that Acanous' saber, the source of his teleportation powers, be placed into their custody, as it may "Interfere with the EMT".
In exchange, they loaned him a pair of boots belonging to the fallen hero Galaxy Man, allowing Acanous to leap phenominal distances.
After grudgingly accepting his power limitations, Acanous joined the supergroup U.L.T.R.A., and began working to protect Paragon City covertly, trying to keep his powers, and how he controls them, as secret as possible.
U.L.T.R.A. has benefitted greatly from Acanous' teleportation knowhow, and an emergency base-teleportation node is now standard issue to all personnel.
Acanous has taken special intrest in Warburg, the Shadow Shard, and the Rikti War Zone.
Personality: Acanous is Cocky, owing to his immortality, and a joker. He enjoys a challenge, and sometimes limits himself "To make things more interesting".
He doesn't like pain, and would normally be quite lazy, However, he is fiercely competitive- winning is more than a goal, it's his way of life. To that effect, he always packs 3 warheads garnered from Warburg and an HVAS from Vanguard, Just in Case.
Surprisingly, he often gets along well in teams, thinking of combat like a sport. -
Any limits on char level/AT/IO's/temp powers?
Because I have a few who'd be in the shard, and I'd propably wanna port in my scrapper >.> -

This happens to Evincar _ALL_THE_TIME.
I have heard that clicking on the pilot or the door changes weather you zone in the base or randomly.
I actually kinda like it, makes it faster to get to where you're going. -
LR: Screw Black and Red spiders, from now on it's Pink and yelow Ponies!

Too late
Favorite moment?
In Siren's call. Team was just almost insta wiped by a Dom, a brute, and two Stalkers. They were coordinated and timed things to take us all out at relatively the same time.
I was engaging an Arachnos boss at said time. Only one of them came for me, one of the Stalkers. Was a grand battle for the hotspot. He went to AS me, I dropped a Chem and a Nuke. He started to turn around when the chem hit, but diddn't get 2 steps before the nuke killed him.
All the Arachnos in the hotspot died, all the FC were buffed. The rest of that team ran. or died to super NPC's. Not sure which, but they were good, so I'm guessing they ran.
Another time, in Warburg, I was up against 8 Arachnoids, and had JUST hit Soul Drain when I took an AS to the back. Hit Dark Regeneration (It IS what I hover over after a Soul Drain to a large mob..) and went back to full, then dove over the railing to the lower level, popping ALL my insps.
Then I jump back up and actually HIT the guy with Midnight Grasp (I can count on one hand the number of times it has actually immob'd players) and KILLED him with Shadow Maul.
If you're wondering what happened to the arachnoids, they died while I was fighting the stalker. CoF, OG, Death Shroud, THAT MANY INSPS, yeah. -
whatever. You're the [censored] that got me addicted to Bleach!
I went on a 40 hour Anime binge, and I blame you!
...not using toxins my censored... -
It kind of makes me dissappointed. Stalkers now have the same sets as scrappers. Plus added ones. The only thing they are missing is Broadsword/inv.
And they gave Scrappers nothing to make up for it. So now Stalkers have 2 sets Scrappers don't have access to.
They gave Tanks nothing.
What I would have liked to see was a toxin set for Stalkers. Something with lots of DoT, a built in DeBuff, and with low-but not poor initial damage. Makes sence, Assassins USE POISON.
I'm hoping this is only a temporary thing, with CoV being new, and that CoH AT's will get some love in I8. -
Mine would have different themes based on which costume they're wearing. But for the main ones:
SGM: Dragostea din Tei (O-Zone)
Acanous: Standing outside the fire (Garth Brooks) (So sue me)
Evincar: Du Hast (Rammstien)
and for my lowbies:
Yellow Wizard: Gauntlet Legends theme remix
Vincent v2: 4.2 Candy (DDR)
The Mighty Sprakk: Mortal Kombat (Scooter) -
Any part which deals with cognative thought.
The brain deals with a lot of things. In fact, it deals with every function of every system in the body. Replacing a part of my brain that tells my body to move my left forfinger with that of a rat, would not make me a different person...although it may cripple my finger. -
Thanks, guys ^_^
I'll write more when I get everything sorted out in my head. Not sure which of my 3 PC's I want to write up first >.< -
My first try at a little CoH fanfic. This one's based loosely on some in-game experience with my Dark/Dark scrapper. Any comments will be appreciated

That's what I thought as I opened the door to that warehouse.
Every other villain group that forcibly "Changes" thier recruits changes them into monsters. It's easy to trounce that Headman as he proclaims that the change will benefit humanity, or crush that lesser devoured as he berates you for trying to rescue him, but the carnies...
At best, I try to skew that makeup they wear, and the costumes, to make them less human in my eyes. I know that they wouldn't have ever chosen to be criminals... But thier blind, undying loyalty to thier Matriarch even outdoes Crey.
I step into the warehouse, activating my microstatic radiation field, my "Dark Armour". Technically, I shouldn't even be able to see out of the field. That's what the goggles are for.
There's three of them, right out the gate. I must look like the stuff of nightmares, the big, unknown bad in the darkness, with glowing green eyes.
I don't think it even registers in thier brains as they come at me that they may be rushing to death. The gleefull grin on the ring mistress' face is belied by the sudden shock and fear dancing in the eyes of he attendants as they enter my field.
It must hurt like being in a microwave.
She doesn't care though. DeVore is likely watching me through this poor girl's eyes right now.
I invert the gate drive, and slow down time a little.
Then I lay into this pile of animated meat and bone with both fists. It takes a minute before she drops to my brutal assault. I swear I'll find the woman responsible for making me do this to the innocent girl.
Moving deeper into the warehouse, looking around for a body bag I know is in there, the dead cousin of a friend of mine who got a little too close to pulling his sister back out of Vanessa's circle. I hear she was the one who killed him.
My rage suddenly subsides, as I am overcome by the grief I must be causing to unknown friends and families of the dominated people of the Carnival of shadows.
I choke up a bit, and have to stop.
It's so much easier when they look like monsters...
I try to shake myself out of this misery, but I can't.
That's when I see a painted face looking at me over a crate.
[censored]! I should have known better! DeVore can demonstrate her powers through her minions, and now I'm stuck here, my body immobile, my mind wallowing in pity as I see the featureless girl call her friends over to play some darts on a me-shaped board.
I will remember my training. I am a Command and Tactics Specialist. Former leader of the ULTRA Paragon branch.
I. Will. Not. Fail!
Shaking it off, I leap over the crate and throw a sucker-punch into her face. I can HEAR the bone snapping, blood sizzling on my armour.
No, don't think. Just fight.
I am a weapon. I have no fear, no pity, no mercy.
I repeat the mantra in my head, drowning out these thoughts not my own. Let them come. Bring the pain.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe 10 minutes later, the warehouse is mostly clear. I'll propably get a medal for this. I feel like crap.
Don't know how I'm gonna catch any sleep tonight.
That's when I hear the sobbing.
Sigh. I hate this part.
I trace it down to the lower level of the warehouse, and start rooting around in the crates.
There she is. One last carnie. That straggler that always stops me from completing the mission.
She's trying to hide from me. The spacial anomoly I create makes me hard to see unless you're actually standing in it. She propably doesn't even know I'm here.
So I shut it off. She immediately gets up and turns around, surprised.
"Why are you doing this? We never hurt anyone!"
She might even believe it, but her hand is reaching for that dagger.
"Don't worry, little one. I'm only here to send you home."
I ball up my fist, surrounded in the dark energy, and plant it firmly in the backside of her skull. She drops. Trumpets blare, fanfare plays.
Mission complete.
Yeah, Right. -
I want one of those goo tanks...
maybe as a rez or something. -
Yeah, like, I dunno, play a MMORPG. (XD) That'll eat all your spare time.
-
..Is there a Uniform Kilo SG?
like a hero one, or rival villain one to go with Foxtrot Charlie? -
Actually, Nuking stalkers, when you get it juuuust right, is an intensely gratifying experience, and one that can leave your entire team speachless while you bask in adoration.
Nuking Brutes isn't nearly so keen, and nuking anything else just seems like a waste. -
POWER NAME Tenebrous Tentacles
DESCRIPTION: You can create a cone shaped rift to the Netherworld that allows its native creatures to slip their oily Tentacles into our reality. These creatures will snare all foes within range, immobilizing them while the Tentacles drain their life and reduce their Accuracy. You must have two other Darkness Mastery Powers before selecting this power.
Ranged (Cone), Moderate DMG(Negative/Smash), Foe Immobilize, -ACC
I have a Dark Scrapper. My ultimate is already the tenticals...
This is gonna be really funny later in levels. -
Because of how long I play, I usually just up and end up leader. I don't *Like* to end up leader, but I am reasonably good at it.
Again, because of how long I play, I usually intimately learn my team's powers and how they use them during a fight... This is a key, KEY part of leading. Know not only your teams abilities, but capabilities. And help 'em out if there's something they don't know.
Leave a vector of Escape. 100% of the time, you want a panic button, even if that's a "RUN!" command while you stand your ground. Save your team from debt, and they'll love you untill you screw up. Do it often enough and they'll still love you after that
One really, really funny thing that happens to me a few times a week goes as follows:
I'll be soloing in a PVP zone and get a /Tell from Loki's Flame asking if I have a healing missile, because a 7 player team at +3-4 my level with no healing whatsoever just got overwhelmed by baddies. So I'll hit Warburg and grab a missile, go to the mission, set it off (Usually by this point, some people have dropped and they found a healer anyway) and proceed to get myself killed trying to solo a few mobs while the group retreats.
Then I'll go off exploring and crack with the wise, trying to make the mish go faster. Generally I get killed again.
After we all complete the mish, the old leader usually drops, taking 1-2 people with them and I end up with the star.
This begins my teaming session.
Now, sufficive to say, the team usually starts out with a small ammount of confidence in my leading ability, mainly the only point in my favour is that I'll go ballz to the wall for them, against things I have no business fighting. After the next mission, I get the general feel for the team and start to actively lead.
We do a few mission strings, I try to spice it up by adding a few missions from other people while advancing my own-Especially "Kill X# of Y" missions on the way to a door mish.
That way, no one gets left behind. After every mission or 2, I ask if anyone has one of thier missions they want done (Unless someone has already said so in chat) and we do that.
Keeps everyone happy.
Attrition isn't too bad, as it's easy to pick up people in the low-mid 30's simply by sending out a few invites. Tells aren't too neccisary as most people in my range have teamed with me before, and half of them are on my friend list. I'm not above sending invites to new people, but I generally don't need to, as SOMEONE in the group knows a friend LFT 80% of the time. So all the /tells are sent for me.
It leads to a fun and entertaining night, with much XP had by all (I usually either start the day with debt and end with none, or start with none and end with lots)
Just my experience -
Guys, I still team with tanks, and I feel your pain. Ice is still good, but Invuln, my Dark scrapper can take more beats.
Here's my ideas toward a brighter future for tankers:
Pool Powers.
OK, those of you who already know about this stuff, don't flame me. Some tanks don't. In the Fighting pool, Tough and Weave haven't been nerfed as bad as your sets. Health is now neccisary, wheras before it wasn't. Grab Maneuvers from Leadership if you need more defence love.
Plus that last one helps nearby teammates. Drop a few attacks for these. He11, in some cases, drop a primary for one. It won't make you as cool as you used to be, but with a little more damres, def, and regen, you won't be as easy to kill.
Good luck,
-Acanous
