Quote:See the following thread: Rebirth and Heal BadgesHi everyone,
I assume this has been tested already, so I just wanted to ask whether a "+HP" buff also counts as a heal for the healing badges.
For example, the Rebirth tree for the Destiny slot offers both a +regeneration and a +MaxHP version. Am I right in assuming the +HP version would be better suited for working towards the last healer badges? -
Quote:That is because the incarnate system isn't in the modified trial code that the reactivation allows.OK, two of my friends who've been gone a loooong time have reactivated.
They appear to be able to access toons that they created in praetoria the last reactivation period.
They wanted to see the incarnate system, but can't talk to Ramiel getting the message that they don't have going rogue.
What people can access has been mentioned in the two posts above yours. The point behind the reactivation weekend has been stated in the original post:Quote:Can we find out what they're supposed to be able to access, and if the incarnate system is off limits, what's the point in the reactivation weekend ?
It is to try to let the EU players to get their global handle.Quote:A free global handle token will be applied to all accounts affected by a global handle name collision. If you own 1 North American account and 1 European account with the exact same global handle, and one or both accounts have lapsed, the Reactivation weekend will allow you to change both global handles. -
Judging by past experience, I can probably answer the questions.
Quote:It will be the base account (whatever you paid for).Couple of quick questions for this reactivation.
I have a second account that was reactivated. It is bare bones no add-ons. But reactivation has allowed me to make DP, Demon, electric control, and KM toons. Also it allows preatoria, and costume parts.
So when the reactivation time is over and the account is renewed. What happens?
Stuck in Praetoria. Any praetorian characters will be unplayable until you apply a valid Going Rogue expansion to that account. You might be able to play characters that started in Praetoria, villain ATs in Paragon, hero ATs in the Rogue Isles, Vigilantes, or Rogues, but I wouldn't count on it. I also wouldn't count on keeping or using any Hero/Villain Alignment merits earned during this week either.Quote:Do the Preatorian toons get booted to blue or redside or are they stuck in preatoria?
Any Demon Summoning or Dual Pistols characters will be unplayable until you apply a valid Going Rogue expansion to that account.
While you might have the costume parts beyond the reactivation week, you will lose them the instant you modify that costume at any tailor, unless you apply a valid Going Rogue expansion to that account. -
The Sentinel program (and Herostats for that matter) does not in any way, shape, or form alter the game client.

Quote:Here is the closest thing we have for the official spawn times:Hey all,
I was wondering if any of you guys had any info on spawn rates for GMs. I know you can force-spawn some of them (Like Deathsurge or Caleb) but what about blueside ones like Adamastor or Jurrasik? I need some of those badges and I'd hate to have to rush-group to hunt them down, or plan a hunt with little to no chance of running into one.

The original announcement (not the version in this thread) was updated:
Quote:http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=259778If the mood for making more alts has struck you recently, now would be the perfect time to purchase more character slots! Please note that the price of the discount IS reflected in the in-game store. -
I wouldn't mind the ability to change the color of either a global name or player name in chat, with some limitations (no black on black).
-
So, if I'm understanding you right, you are complaining that they were more efficient than they thought they would be? They promised the server list merge by the end of summer and they are done about 4 months sooner. I'm not seeing the problem. They under-promised and over-delivered.

Quote:Yes, that would tie into Zwillinger's post. I suppose I could have gotten technical and saying that the earning conditions should have been mutually exclusive, but that isn't the point. Like I said, in reality the patron badges are not mutually exclusive either. Any developer can turn them all on for a character, I know I have pictures of Black Pebble's badge list with all of them. I'm sure you have a similar screenshot of a Developer's badge list. You're missing the point of my post. A few people were thinking that the badges were mutually exclusive and the only reason that they both appear as verified for a single character is because the player verified one badge and then the other (at which point, presumably, they wouldn't have the first). In reality, they have both badges, and the site's verification is working in a way that is consistent with what the game does.
My posts about the two badges being mutually exclusive came at it from a different point of view, one that seems to be shared with the majority of players in this thread AND the developers: A primal character should never had access to the Agent of Praetoria Badge in the first place when they had the Agent of Order/Chaos badge. In that sense, they ARE mutually exclusive. THAT is the point that everyone here is trying to make.
In this case the badge has been identified as being improperly awarded by the game. I suspect that the badge sites will have a fix out sooner than the game itself. -
Quote:The stated reason for the badge awarding IS exclusive. Agent of X is awarded for owning Going Rogue. Primal Earth characters earn Agent of Order or Chaos and Praetorian characters get Agent of Praetoria. The intent is clear that these are mutually exclusive badges.I know someone on Freedom who also has these badges, obtained the same way (zoned into a Praetorian tutorial), so I can confirm that the Agent of Praetoria badge is not mutually exclusive with Agent of Order:
The game may let you have both badges, but you can't fulfil all the requirements in one character (owning Going Rogue and being a Primal character or owning Going Rogue and being a Praetorian character), unless you are a developer. The game may even award the badge for getting into the tutorial, however that isn't working as intended according to the developers. Zwillinger, as a community rep, has already stated that "there were some players (not just the one referenced) who were able to get badges they weren't normally able to".
It doesn't matter if a bug allowed primal characters to get the badge. It was never the intent to be able to get both Agent of Order/Chaos AND Agent of Praetoria. A company representative's word that the characters aren't normally able to takes a higher priority than having screenshots of a character with both badges. In other words, if I can show with a bug with a screenshot that doesn't mean that it is working as intended.
Leandro, what you are saying is that the game has nothing to prevent both badges from awarding, like the patron badges. In reality there is just as much normally preventing people from having all 4 patron badges. The ONLY two badges that are mutually exclusive with the definition that YOU are using is Trusting and Arriviste badges. That level of distinction isn't needed in the Agent of X badges though. -
Quote:Then pick a mission that doesn't involve going through the queue to start or making a full league prior to starting. You are given a very limited amount of choices:None of which changes the fact that I DO NOT WANT a random stranger on my team during a (subjectively) difficult trial that requires coordination and (some at least) strategy.
You can have a full league prior to starting.
You can accept that you might get additional people from the queue.
You can do other content.
Be a <censored> and kick a player that is using the game as designed.
Note that there are 3 out of 4 choices that don't make you look or feel bad.
Well that is a choice, but that is your choice, and your responsibility. No one is forcing you to act unpleasantly to someone that is using the game as designed. Watch as you have less players to play with over time.Quote:And, as I have the star, said random stranger IS NOT going to be on the team (kick).
Now, does that make me a jerk? Yes/No/Maybe/Probably. Take your pick. It doesn't change what's going to happen.
And your (and other's) insistence that you'd automatically kick people for using the system as designed makes me want to request the developers remove everyone's ability to make a league before starting the trials.Quote:So, given that it's going to happen, would it not be better for everyone involved to avoid the unpleasantness in the first place? Let me lock my league if my league and I are so inclined and let the random stranger have a chance to get onto a league that actually wants him there rather than wasting time by having to get back in line again after I kick him out.
You are making a choice to kick someone from your team for using the game as designed. No one is forcing you to. I'm putting the obvious developer intention that leagues with less than the full amount of players over people having fits that someone might intrude in a public area of the game. Don't like it? You are free to do any other mission in the game.Quote:But you'd rather 1) continue to have me kick said unwanted stranger out of the league thereby annoying EVERYONE or 2) put the desires of a single player as more important than the desires of 16 other players, because 3) deal with it and shut up just isn't going to happen. -
If, and only if, the player invited accepts the invite.

I am a programmer, and while I did suggest something similar, I wouldn't want it as a process that is continually run. A script they could use during maintenance would be ideal as that would be a one time check for every character.
-
Sorry for the late reply, but when does May come after August? If it does happen tomorrow, then it will happen before the end of summer, as it is currently still spring.

Quote:It would have been interesting to see if Tiger had yet to collect any badges that were praetorian specific (inf collected, damage taken, healing, etc) after this. However there are several badges, besides the praetorian duplicates that could be checked against. The 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 level badges for instance.Something like this may be possible (and might even be necessary) assuming there is no other more obvious way for the game to know that a given character is a "Praetorian native" versus a "Primal native". If there is no such simple flag in the character data then all I could say to that is that the Devs probably should of thought to include one for just such a contingency.

Which is why I suggested different approaches for Avid Reader and Agent of Praetoria.Quote:So yes badges which are supposed to be mutually exclusive should be fixed regardless.
But everything else may just end up being "resolved" by retroactive additions to the game.
I'm a programmer, I work with databases, I don't pretend for a moment what I'm suggesting is "simple". However, what I'm suggesting is possible within their system. They have the means of automatically removing badges (they did so with several badges in Issue 7). They have the means to identify dates of badges earned since 2008 (Issue 13). The problem only deals with Issue 20 badge rewards (within the last 2 months).Quote:It is presumptuous to pretend it is simple to muck with a database like this. Quick, easy fixes are usually the ones that cause the most damage when they go wrong.
They could easily check the level 10 badge for any character that has Agent of Praetoria. If it is a praetorian badge, then the character gets a "pass", if it is the primal version, the Agent of Praetoria has been awarded improperly and should be removed at that time. -
Quote:Nice straw man, but that isn't accurate at all. Any team running content that you know ahead of time can add players to your team and then having the delusion that you will have a private group is bound to cause you frustration. For those who are advocating against being able to control team makeup, why not extend that thought process a little further?
So you'd be for having anyone with a LFG flag set being randomly assigned to any team out there who isn't running at a full 8-man mission team?
Myself and my wife are duo'ing radio missions...suddenly 6 other people should be randomly forced onto us just because we aren't running an 8-man locked out team?
The trials are known, by the very presence of these threads (if not even casual observation of using the LFG to queue for the trials), to add players to leagues. If you and your wife enter the queue and expect to duo a trial, then you are in for a rude shock. Just like if you went to a public pool and expected to have the pool to yourselves.
If you and your wife are having a "private moment" in a public park you can expect to be discouraged/arrested for doing so. If you are having a private moment in an private venue, then you have a full expectation of privacy.Quote:Or let's use a real life example: you and your significant other are having a "private moment", should you be required to let me join in too...after all, I shouldn't be excluded from your fun just because I don't want to put in the effort of obtaining my own s.o. (form my own league rather than waiting around to glom onto someone elses).
The trials are public venues by the fact that you can only access them from the Looking For Group system. The rest of the missions in game are private venues with the expectation of having a private group.
The issue here is one of access. In the majority of missions (aside from open zone missions in the PVP zones or in the raid zones), you can expect a private team. In the trials you can't. Is that bothersome for some players? Apparently. That doesn't make the trials less public. -
Quote:Hah. That channel was taken over by the people that complained of over-moderation and more people are being silenced now than before.there is a channel on Triumph that is run by a most strict and capricious lot that silences people right and left. Triumph LFT is a recommended channel.
When a channel's MOTD and description (found in the channel search window) are clear that the channel is moderated, people should expect mods to act. If they disagree with the level of moderation, then the are free to choose if they prefer that level of moderation or make a new channel that is less moderated. -
Quote:If I may make a suggestion? In summary, we're aware of the issue and are weighing our options on how to best proceed.
Actually, given some things I know about the system, Paragon Studios could make a script for the Agent of X badges where it checks characters to see if they have the 2 badges (2 different set_titles). If the script finds both badges, the script can then check the award dates and remove the newer badge. -
You don't get a very rare component from a master badge, you get a rare (tier 3) component.
-
Actually both versions can be done in a deterministic manner. Just that my version takes a bit longer if you solely use the deterministic means. However shards do drop even while exempt now, so it should provide a bit of a buffer from a pure deterministic route.
-
-
The likely solution might have to be 3. Both. A way for everyone to get avid reader and removing then properly re-awarding all Agent of X (Order/Chaos/Praetoria).
-
Quote:I would suggest the following conversion rate:
Rare thread component = 3 (three) Notices of the Well
Very rare thread component = 1 (one) Favor of the Well; 3 (three) Notices of the WellHeh I just noticed that my rate, if people just used Notices instead of earning shards, actually is more expensive than EvilGeko's numbers. Each Notice breaks down to 4 shards.Quote:Rare thread component = 1 (one) Notice of the Well + 16 (sixteen) shards
Very rare thread component = 1 (one) Favor of the Well + 16 (sixteen) shards
Geko's 3 notices for a Rare Thread vs my 1 Notice + 16 shards (4 notices broken down). If people just used Notices (and not stray shards) for my version of the Very Rare, it would take 14 Notices (2 notices for the base crafting and 8 notices for the 32 shards to craft the Favor, then an additional 4 for the extra 16 shards). -
Quote:Oh, you wanted a long and pointless argument? I might be able to provide one.I'm half tempted to start a long pointless argument with you just so the thread doesn't fall to the bottom!

The idea stinks because the developers use a dart board to determine prices and while they initially set prices higher during testing they reduce the price to make it appear they are listening to feedback.
Is that a good start?
