Quote:Now that would have been funny if his jihad was using scimitarsShooting people isn't very heroic
But blasting them with fire, freezing them, and lighting them up with so much radiation that you could power a city with it is?
I love it when these kinda of threads come up. Reminds me of the guy who attempted to wage a jihad against Dual Blades. -
Quote:Well, my build has capped S/L defence and Aim/Concentrate up every 25 seconds. That not too good?
That is what going to set your speed. 25 seconds per even con spawn is your max. That gives you an ok farmer and an excellent general purpose character. Then you get into questions of economic return. If your build costs 2 billion to make and takes you from making 100 million an hour to 110 million hour was it a good use of inf for you ?
The nicest farm build I have seen on the forums was posted awhile ago on the old board. It had 168% global recharge(with hasten), 10% global damage. Aim and Concentration were up every 19 seconds. The kicker was the build looked like it cost at most 400 million. That is a build that will pay off quickly -
Quote:I have to agree with the OP. We need Revolutionary War and Civil War era military costume pieces. There is already an abundance of martial arts specific costume pieces...
George Washington INV/SS tank, Obviously took hurl look at all the stories about him tossing coins across the Ptomac.
Banister Tarleton Fire/Fire Brute ?
Lord North Illusion/Emp Controller ?
Stone Wall Jackson, Stone/Sabre tank ? -
Well then all praise to BABs, He who has given female toons the superpower of walking as if in 6inch heels while actually wearing flats.

Quote:I heard Archery/MM was good at farming and so far mine is at level 45. When I hit 50 I plan on starting my farm; but I was just wondering what would a good build be for this set?
So far I'm pretty good with the Demon Farm; and I'm not enhanced at all. But I usually have someone to back me up when things start to get rough.
I found using Aim + Concentration + RoA + Explosive Arrow + Fistful of Arrows is a good combo and usually wipes out an entire more, just leaving a couple runners.
Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.
( I had to re-post this after making a fool of myself and posting it on the Scrappers forum. -.- )
Good news, If you want to get into arch/ment farming it doesn't take much. Do a nice build with no more than SOs you will be 80% of the way there. Get hasten 3 slot it. If you get the fire mastery epic, take char and rise of the phoenix (very nice when you are learning the ropes). If you take the cold epic hoarfrost and hibernate are your firends. Electric Surge of power.
The last big thing you want before you have started dumping millions in your build is a base with an empowerment station. Get the increase attack rate empowerment. Its cheap to craft it lasts an hour and can replace up to a billion inf in IOs till you actually have them.
One observation on your attack chain, psy scream does 20% more base damage than the attacks you have in there and most of the things you will farm have absolutely zero resistance to psi. (You aren't planning on farming carnies are you ?). It also has a nice recharge debuff.
YMMV though, try things out in the AE. It will let you easily see how you do against various enemy groups.
P.S. The scrappers probably couldn't notice the faux pas. They keep taking all those hits, it leaves them a little daft.
P.P.S. The build down the forum while very nice has a few problems. Blaster Farming moves at the speed of Aim and build up. Safety is achieved by killing everything before they get to return fire. That build sacrifices speed of recharge in Aim and Build up for capped defenses. Its more a general soloing build or a bad pug build, than a proper farmer. -
Quote:Humor impaired ? Or is that seriousness enhanced in our brave new world of doubleplusgood PC speak ? Well not to flagellate an extinct equine, but PVP is still fun and people do regularly enjoy it so for it to fail that would have to stop and the devs would have to declare the project over.Fail. Sorry. PvP in this game being 'redeemable' is the same as Walk being upgradeable. The difference would be, walk was developed largely during the developer's free/down time while PvP has been focused on more than once (it's actually had resources devoted to it) and still fails. Also, how many times have they tried to get the Cathedral of Pain to work? Does walk work one way in some zones but differently in others? Gee, I wonder what that applies to and how that's turned out.
Basically, multiple failures in one older area of gameplay that has required changes to multiple other systems are generally regarded as bigger failures than a new feature that actually appeals to a section of the playerbase without modification.
Quote:I'm a normal woman, and I can walk like that - not all the time, of course, but it's not an impossible walk
And if I had superpowers, I'd certainly walk like that more often
Being ever a keen observer of the perambulations and gyrations of the female posterior, 6 inch heels are the superpower you are looking for. Not having a head like Modok, I have no idea how you would manage to fight crime in such footwear. -
Scrapperlock has nothing on Irresistible FURY !!!
Must hit, they hit me ? Must Hit BACK !! HIT HIT HIT HIT HIT HIT. -

Also note that the "small fry" snow creatures in the winter realm have a chance of dropping canes on defeat. Having even a few minutes to clean up the zone afterward can increase the cane yield significantly;
If you really wanted the candy canes why bother with lord winter just clean the zone. If this is the case I think there will be no shortage at all of canes this year. -
That is really scary when you think about it. You can get a merit theoretically in 3.5 minutes so if the devs are saying it should take more than 9999 merits to get a purple what they are saying is it should take you more than 35,000 minutes of game time to get purple

It just makes it easier. Its pretty easy to softcap a FF defender with IOs. Especially if you are willing to go for only one position. And theoretically the scrapper, is in the thick of it absorbing that damage stream when he is teamed.
-
Quote:Well, I gave a big list on page one why buffs like FF may or may not rub me the wrong way. None of them really apply to regular attacks. You may give that a look to see if you can figure it out. I'll admit I don't fully understand why I hate upkeeping buffs (or pets like Voltiac Sentinel). I just know it's not a fun mechanic.
Perhaps its the same for you as it is for me. When combat starts I am trying to kill the enemy. The last thing I want to do is keep checking on the team status window to see if any of them need buffing. It only gets more and more annoying with shorter term buffs that need to be applied individually. -
Quote:Do half the damage of a Blaster, with half of the defense of a Scrapper?
You forgot about letting them solo at a pace that isn't glacial. A team of 8 defenders is overwhelming a team of 2 not so much a team of 1 that can buff itself not so much at all.
Also to FF defenders being able to cap themselves why not ? SR and SD scrappers can do this and they don't even take the damage output hit -
Did any of the OPs issues ever get resolved ?

Warburg nukes if you don't want to restart
Full set on each of you.
That will allow you to keep yourselves and your shivans buffed for 20 minutes (Very heavily buffed), and Reichsman debuffed. If you have the vanguard merits you might want to bring in a vanguard mech.
The good news is that Reichsman isnt particularly resistant to psi to begin with, so the buff from the biological mutagens should be very good.
Edit: The base empowerment buff for increasing attack speed is also good, and bringing all the insps you can to with it. All that will boost your damage output will it be enough can't say. I like to keep a bio and a chemical handy just on general principles, they have saved what would have been failed tfs for me. -
When figuring out how to store the inf becomes a problem

Quote:About 25 minutes on a poor build with no sets and leveling its way up.Random recipe rolls are a good option for AE Tickets with people generally either going for Bronze in order to get quantity or Gold for the high end recipes (although for a Gold roll 20 merits is a lot easier to get than 4000 tickets unless you're a very good farmer).
WHAAA WHAT ABOUT A FARMER THAT MARKETS ?????? ARRRR I AM SO CONFLICTED -
Quote:His point was that it will (potentially) impact the cost of respec recipes since it is a substitute good (i.e. a shopper can buy either one respec recipe or 500 candy canes).
It is a very very limited subsitute
The holiday respec applies immediately. The only way you can use it is if you have a character that has used its I16 freespec already or is newer than I16 needs a respec, whose player can't or won't get a regular earned respec for it or needs than three respecs and has insufficient vet specs available.
The above is based on trying to craft a holiday freespec on test with a character that had a freespec already. -
Quote:Based on the Winter Event 2009 test yesterday, one of the things you can buy for candy canes this year is a respec, for 500. Text indicates it counts as a freespec. Standard disclaimer about numbers may change before live, etc.
I don't follow either the respec recipe or the candy cane markets, but I'm curious what this may do to the price of either or both of them. Presumably, there will be at least some price pressure forcing a respec toward the cost of 500 canes; how does that compare to previous events? Which price is likely to do most of the moving? Seems like a potentially interesting discussion, and a chance for those that think they can predict the market to test on an unusual case.
Minimal its not a recipe you buy as you would a respec recipe, but rather the ability to add a freespec, that won't stack with existing freespecs.
Edit: Trying to think of just what percentage of the population would be interested seems to give me something that looks like the Drake Equation. -

Quote:PvP
We all can testify to how crowded those zones are. On any given server you'll find 2-3 instances of Siren's Call, Warburg, Bloody Bay, or Recluse' Victory.
And god forbid you want to use an Arena terminal. Just going near one causes intense lag from all the people scrambling to fight Gladiator matches.
Let's also not forget how well balanced and smoothly the CoP runs.
Gladiator matches is likely the winner there. PvP and CoP are more failed uses of resources, and are still redeemable. Even gladiators may or may not wind up being more popular than walking. There are badges attached to it after all. -
