  1. Kind of, yes. Send a PM to Avatea, and she should be able to change it for you.
  2. Delete any cookies in your directory with any /COH in them. Then close out of Firefox completely. Start up Firefox again, and try to log in to the forums. That's what fixed mine up when it was doing that.

    claws aaaand ??

    Stone Armor! Oh, wait...

    MWA HAHAHAHAHAHA!
  4. Oh, and just a few little tips, since you said that you were coming from WoW:

    1) Understand that the vast majority of this game takes place in instanced missions. If you're having trouble finding teams, head on down to the forum for whatever server you've chosen, and post that you're new, and looking for some help. People should be able to introduce you to various Super Groups (what you know as Guilds), and/or global channels that people have set up to get teams.

    2) Also understand that this game tends to be very solo friendly, and at the same time, doesn't need any specific team set up to beat pretty much anything. Certainly, certain Archetypes (ATs) are useful at different points, but no AT is ever needed. THat's one of the things I really like about this game.

    3) Feel free to ask any questions that you might have. Around the Player Questions forum, we genuinely do like helping new players out, so if you're confused by anything, let us know, and we'll try to help you out!

    4) Please try to take this game for what it is, and don't compare it too much to WoW. WE get a decent amount of people that try to turn this game into WoW in the suggestions forum, and while definitely WoW has some good features, many people play this game because it's NOT WoW in how it works, so just something to keep in mind. Play City of Heroes (CoH) as CoH. If the game isn't for you, I definitely understand! But I happen to think that it's a lot of fun.

    Hope this helps a bit!
  5. First off, welcome to the game and to the forums! You came to mostly the right place to help.

Also, please understand that NCSoft isn't actively trying to make you mad and frustrated. While this is a rare situation, it does seem to pop up every now and again. What you want to do is send a message to one of the Forum Mods, Avatea most likely. Either that, or go through the support site (e-mail support@ncsoft.com if you prefer that way), and they should be able to help you sort out the problem.

I hope that you are able to get this resolved quickly, and that you can begin enjoying the game!
  6. Was anyone from the team helping you out, as opposed to just dropping the towers? It is okay to have a Defender or a Controller help you out as you try to Tank Recluse. I think that's kind of standard issue for most people, unless they're really IO'd out and don't need the support. At least, that is how I've often Tanked Recluse, with a buddy backing me up. 6 players should be able to take down the towers okay.

And while the Rad debuffs are good, if they're dropping, they're not helping you out enough of the time.
  7. S'alright. Not exactly sure what is going on here anyways.

Hmmm...maybe I am wrong on that one. Smashing does seem to make more sense, doesn't it?

But Carnies are definitely weak to Lethal, which is nice.
  9. You'll probably need to contact a Forum Mod for something like this, as there won't be much that we can tell you, other than to make sure that you're using the right password, and make sure that you're using the right capitalization.

I would contact either of the Forum Mods about this, so send one of them a PM.
  10. Yeah, not much is resistant to Lethal damage at the lower levels. It's once you start getting into the higher-level enemies that it starts to become more prevalent.

Good news: Carnies and most robots are vulnerable to Lethal damage.
  11. I'll try to find the post, but I remember reading that you can pre-order the complete pack, and get both the goodie pack, and access to DS/DP early.

To be fair, you didn't ask about the playstyle of an Ice/Ice/Ice...you asked if it would be damaging. And the answer was: kind of, but not as good as other combos.

Now, if you HAD asked about the playstyle of an Ice/Ice/Ice, I would have told you this:

It is a bit on the slower side, but it can be done, and I find it extremely fun. Herd up massive groups, control them in some fashion, and unleash lots of AoE goodness. Fighting on difficulty levels where there are lots of minions, but few bosses, would be a good choice for you.

I would also suggest teaming a lot in the lower levels, as you won't get your main AoEs until very late in the game. Until then, while you are great at holding aggro, you have severely low damage potential, but good survivability. As such, a teaming situation would be good, as it allows you to play a defensive roll for your team, while allowing them to concentrate on damage until you get your AoEs.
  13. It is not game-breaking. What it is, is a lot of work, for very little payoff, that doesn't need to be done, as the problem with the current situation is entirely of your own making.

Basically, IOs are an optional system. If you want a specific set bonus, but don't want the effects of that set, then that is a choice that you have to make. Neither the Devs, nor the other players, are forcing you to slot that set, and there are likely other ways to go about getting what you want without the penalty that you dislike.

To change how KD works would require the Devs to completely rewrite how the KD/KB mechanic works, and it really just doesn't need to be done. As such, it is much easier for you to change what you're going for, than to change how the game works.
  14. It's not, but when there is a much, much simpler way to fix this (i.e., don't use the KD proc), it seems kind of unnecessary.

I am not shaking my finger at anyone else, more power to you. I just remember how much my nose got out of joint when burn, ih, ih, ih (did I say ih?) were adjusted.

Just a note: Even IF the Devs do do something about the ability to soft-cap every character to at least some type of Defense (and that's a very big IF at this point), I highly doubt that it will do much to the ability of a melee character, with a Defense-oriented primary or secondary, to be able to hit the soft cap.
  16. Thanks for the edit, it's much easier to read now for me.

    Some suggestions, if I may:

For Telekinetic Blast set, why not make the attacks do like 75% Smashing, 25% Psi damage, to reflect the source of the damage? Not necessary, just a thought.

For Dark Manipulation, I don't think that the Devs will ever give Blasters a self-heal as potent as Dark Regen. I just don't see that ever happening, nor giving them Tar Patch at level 1. The Tier 1 secondary powers for Blasters are all single-target, most of them immobilizes with a damage component, and I'm not sure if the Devs will alter from that design by that much.

I'd see a Dark Manipulation set more along the lines of this:

    Tier 1: Tendrils

    Minor DoT, Negative Energy/Smashing
Same 'tentacle' animation as Tenebrous Tentacles on the target, but single-target.

    Tier 2: Shadow Punch

    Tier 3: Shadow Maul

    Tier 4: Death Shroud

    Tier 5: Soul Drain

    Tier 6: Touch of Fear

    Tier 7: Cloak of Darkness

    Tier 8: Dark Consumption

    Tier 9: Midnight Grasp
  17. My Claws/Stone Brute on test, "Odd Combo" would like to mock you all.
  18. Well, I doubt that the Devs really want to add recipe or influence storage for bases, since they tend to not want people to hoard stuff, which that would allow.

As for the powersets, I think that they look good, but is there any way that you can break them up a bit? It's tough to see where one power ends, and another begins with the formatting.

    Shields Question

It's a pretty decent set, with a lot of tricks up it's sleeve. Granted, it's not as survivable as some other sets, like WP or Invuln, but it can get the job done, especially as a scrapper.

This is especially true since you'll get a decent return from Against All Odds in the +DMG area, which will work nicely with your primary.

The problem of the set, when you're not at the soft cap for Defense, is that you don't have a heal, so any damage that does come through can be problematic. However, that's not such a huge concern if you can defeat your enemies fast enough. Shield Charge can be a good opener, and help you avoid some of the alpha strike, which is a big help.

    Wait a sec.....

Coming from somebody who has had an Ice/Ice/Ice Tanker since about I4, I'm going to agree with the others. Is it bad in terms of damage? No, it's not, especially in the AoE department, but it is far from the best.

Ice Storm is on a much slower recharge than Fireball, and enemies will run out of it if they can. Even with CE, they can still run, and since they're scattering, it's tough to keep CE applied on all of them. Frost is a decent cone, and Frozen Aura is now pretty good, but as far as AoE damage goes, you would be better off with an Ice/Fire/Fire.

Well, considering that at one point, Swift didn't increase fly speed at all, I'd say that it's not too big of an issue.
  23. Well, it is a little bit ugly, but it can be fixed. Some suggestions:

    1) Your Defenses are over-slotted, for the most part, while your offense is under-slotted.

    2) High Pain Tolerance should get 3 Heals, 3 DamRes, or IO sets along those lines. You want to max out both parts of this power.

    3) Mind Over Body can be pushed back a little in the power order, and is over-slotted. 4-5 slots should be fine, depending on what set bonuses you want.

    4) Fast Healing is way over slotted. Numina's only really helps you with 3 slots, so you can get away with that. It is a good place for the uniques, those.

    5) Don't slot Jacob's ladder with Sleeps or sleep sets. It's an attack. Slot is as such. Even if you do get the enemies to be slept, any damage or KD effects will just wake them right back up.

    6) Combat Jumping is a bit over-slotted. Unless you don't have any other room for slots, I wouldn't put too many in here. ALTERNATIVE: use this power for things like the LotG +Recharge IO, and other procs.

    7) Indomitable will could use a few more Defense slots, as this will be your main protection against Psy damage.

    8) Quick Recovery is over-slotted. You've got a lot of slots in there doing very little good. Same with Stamina. I'd drop out the Acc ones, since they're not doing much, and having these powers 4-slotted will get you good set bonuses.

    9) If you're only going to be doing PvE, Taunt doesn't need Accuracy. It only needs a ToHit check in PvP. A Recharge, or Taunt Duration IO would be good in there. Or, if you have a lot of slots, go for a full set of Perfect Zinger.

    10) Put more slots into Health, since Regen will be a main focus for you.

    11) Rise to the Challenge needs to both come much, much sooner (like at level 8), and be slotted much, much better. Take this power ASAP, as it is both your Taunt Aura, and a great source of Regen. Slot is with at least 3 Heals and 1-2 Taunts.

    12) Not sure why you went with Titanium Coating for Tough, but if you were going for the +Health bonus, you can do that with 4 slots, and save 2 slots.

    13) Take Heightened Senses much earlier. This is your main Defense power to the elemental damage types, and shouldn't be pushed back to level 41.

    14) On both Weave and Heightened Senses, you can probably do with just four slots, since the set bonuses after that aren't that great for you.

    15) I'm not sure how much you're going to need Physical Perfection, since you're a Willpower Tanker, but that's up to you.

    16) You've only got two single-target attacks, and those are both only 1-slotted with Acc (and one of them is Boxing). I'm not sure if you intend to be on teams 100% of the time or not, but if you try to solo with this build, it's going to take you a while to take down any bosses you come across.

That's all I've got for now. Hope this helps!

    Jet Pack Vendors

There is a jet pack vendor in the zone of each side that is tough to get around without vertical travel of some sort: Grandville on villain-side, and the Shadow Shard hero-side.

Considering that any character with enough cash can get to those areas now at any level, and purchase one, I'm not really seeing a need to have more of them. Especially since it would even further negate the need to take a travel power in the first place.
  25. Okay, a few things:

    1) The Ranged Def still isn't helping you all that much. Drop and enhancement from each of your Defensive toggles that you've got, since the 6th slot of Red Fortune isn't going to do much for you. We'll put the slots somewhere else.

    2) Slot your attacks as...well...attacks. The more damage you do, the more likely that enemies will keep you as their target. Damage is part of the Threat formula, and you're probably going to want to be able to hurt stuff at some point. Slotting your attacks for ToHit debuff just doesn't do you any good, really. If you want, use your 6th slot for -ToHit buff, but not a whole set.

    3) Drop CE down to just 4 slots. Again, the Ranged Def isn't going to do you any good. Drop the ones with Acc or Range in them, since they don't do anything for the power.

    4) Wet Ice only needs one slot in it.

    5) For attack sets, try for Kinetic Combat, if you can afford them, as they give typed defense bonuses.

    6) Put some slots into Health, and get some better bonuses out of that.

    7) Go Perfect Zinger over Mocking Beratement in Taunt. Six Slots gives you better S/L Defense.

    8) Blessing of the Zephyr will, again, get you only Ranged Defense, which isn't really what you want. You wanted typed Defense bonuses.

    9) Take Hoarfrost much, much earlier. Like level 1, 2, or 4.

    10) You have Super Jump at level 8, make sure that you can actually do that in the game. That option is only open to 60+ month Vets.

    11) Frankenslot Energy Absorption, and try to get good stats for Defense, Recharge, and EndMod on that puppy.

    We'll start with those.
