Incorrect password?!

Myself and my girlfriend are both new to CoH/CoV and have both recently set up trial accounts to see whether we're into the game or not (we have both previously been WoW players).

On 2 separate machines (we have a desktop and a laptop) we are getting the same error message, when we attempt to log in, telling us that our account name or password is incorrect. They are not incorrect.

I understand that it is common knowledge that NCsoft have made a balls up of the accounts sign up, by making you sign up for an NCsoft master account before signing up for a game account (which is VERY confusing for a noob), but I am 100% certain that this is not our issue. Both our master account and game account usernames and passwords are identical.

I have also checked that my firewall settings are ok, and tried running the game in safe mode.

I did have my game running for a brief period yesterday, which makes the situation even more infuriating! I hope someone can help us... Blizzard never did this to us!

Thanks for any advice that anyone can offer.

First off, welcome to the game and to the forums! You came to mostly the right place to help.

Also, please understand that NCSoft isn't actively trying to make you mad and frustrated. While this is a rare situation, it does seem to pop up every now and again. What you want to do is send a message to one of the Forum Mods, Avatea most likely. Either that, or go through the support site (e-mail support@ncsoft.com if you prefer that way), and they should be able to help you sort out the problem.

I hope that you are able to get this resolved quickly, and that you can begin enjoying the game!

I dont know if you tried this or know but the forums name and password should be the same as login info so try that, if you already did then yes your gonna have to contact Avatea via PM

I have messaged Avatea, hopefully that will bring some answers!

I have had to set up 3 separate accounts so far; NCsoft master account, game account and forum account. Kinda confusing!

Oh, and just a few little tips, since you said that you were coming from WoW:

1) Understand that the vast majority of this game takes place in instanced missions. If you're having trouble finding teams, head on down to the forum for whatever server you've chosen, and post that you're new, and looking for some help. People should be able to introduce you to various Super Groups (what you know as Guilds), and/or global channels that people have set up to get teams.

2) Also understand that this game tends to be very solo friendly, and at the same time, doesn't need any specific team set up to beat pretty much anything. Certainly, certain Archetypes (ATs) are useful at different points, but no AT is ever needed. THat's one of the things I really like about this game.

3) Feel free to ask any questions that you might have. Around the Player Questions forum, we genuinely do like helping new players out, so if you're confused by anything, let us know, and we'll try to help you out!

4) Please try to take this game for what it is, and don't compare it too much to WoW. WE get a decent amount of people that try to turn this game into WoW in the suggestions forum, and while definitely WoW has some good features, many people play this game because it's NOT WoW in how it works, so just something to keep in mind. Play City of Heroes (CoH) as CoH. If the game isn't for you, I definitely understand! But I happen to think that it's a lot of fun.

Hope this helps a bit!
