I just checked and mids is indeed applying Improved Healing set bonuses to Healing Flames but according to RedTomax Healing Flames is tagged to not benefit from global buffs (as are all powers that take resistance enhancements) so it should be doing so.

Also for the in game value are you going by the value given in the power info or the actual green number when you fire it off?

Overall, it sounds kind of horrific to me.
Sure, I'm not actually suggesting that the devs actually implement it I'm just using it as a thought experiment. Yes it would eliminate the ability to get bargins but in practice it should also move both the high and low prices towards the theoretical market price. The major issue would be that the lack of feedback could potentially send the high price out of control.

I think what you'd need is something in between, it only executes every 15 minutes but tells you if you will be buying one ahead of time. Of course THAT leads to the ebay problem. So to counteract that you'd need to make the spacing between windows semi-random at which point the whole thing just becomes silly.

I suggest you re-read my post on the first page since it actually alludes to why this happens. Supply and demand of a particular item will come in spurts as individual players check the market and add items or bids. Large and sudden price jumps are most likely to happen when a short surge of buyers overwhelms the current waiting supply. Unless there is a significant reserve the buy it now price temporarily goes up.

This is why people often advise waiting a few minutes when buying salvage, it means that you wait out the temporary shortage.

I sometimes wonder what would happen if the devs changed the market so that instead of executing orders immediately it had a moderate duration "tick" (say 15 minutes). The idea would be that you could put up bids or listings whenever you wanted but the sever would wait until the next multiple of 15minutes to execute them. Theoretically it should serve to dampen out the wild short term price swings in the market although in practice it might end up making things worse by eliminating the ability to bid creep.

It depends on which set you have. Detonator actually functions differently for the Human sets (Thugs, Ninjas and Mercs) versus the non-human sets (Necromancer, Robot and Demons). Based on some testing that was done by myself and another poster the damage does scale with pet type for the non-human sets due to different damage scale, purple patch effects and enhancements but for human pets it always has the same base damage, uses your level for the purple patch and only varies by enhancements.

Just to confirm, you are checking for open story arcs and not open missions correct? You can tell if you're in an arc because the contact will have a open book next to their picture.

I apologize if you already knew this it's just your comment about abandoning an arc confused me. You can abandon missions but not arcs, once you accept an arc mission (and sometimes even if you are just offered an arc mission) the arc is open until you complete it even if you abandon the mission.

When you see a really huge price jump in the buy it nao for a salvage item (such as from 10K to 200K) what it normally means is that not enough people are flipping that salvage.

The stock of most salvage tends to be heavily banded. You get a chunk of it which is hovering around the market price but this chunk trends to get very fast sell through. If it hits a low ebb (due to a bunch of buyers hitting the market together) the "market price chunk" can potentially sell out. When this happens you are reliant on the reserve stock of the item which for salvage tends to consist of offers people put up at high prices either back during the AE farms (when salvage prices were high) or on lesser used alts for the heck of it (see: Fulmen's 2 billion inf luck charms).

The "solution" for this is either for sellers to price their salvage higher so it doesn't sell out or for a flipper to do ti for them.

I think it's due to how contact introductions work. My experience with regular contacts is that if you don't do any missions for you they won't pass you up the chain until you are one level past the multiple of 5 (i.e. Angus McQueen will introduce you to Maria at level 46 not 45). If you have done a few missions they introduce you earlier, generally at one level below the level break if you're at the first tier of "friendliness" or immediately if you max them out.

EDIT: Yes, I know the servers aren't physically located in Mountain View but the devs are and they need to be collocated for it to work.

    Haha, what the heck?
As Dechs says best option is to make a note not to team with him again. One thing to keep in mind though is that it's not necessarily an insult. For people on lower end machines MMs can cause lag problems and demons are probably the worst of the lot in that regard (due to the thermal shield style graphics).

But yeah avoiding him in the future is probably for the best. Either he's incompetent in which case you want to avoid him or he's on a low end machine and wants to avoid you .

It depends on your personal style. I softcapped to positional defense and picked up Mu Mastery on my Bots/Traps which was partly a stylistic choice (electrical flames fit better with the Tech theme than Ice would) but I find it works well enough.

The value of a resistance shield on an MM goes two ways. The plus side is that it it reduces damage taken before the "resistance" of bodyguard is factored in (so your pets need less healing). On the other hand effective resistance through BG mode is already very good so it doesn't make as large a difference to your personal survivability as the emergency heal/+HP does (for example in the example Dechs referenced I would probably have had to use inspirations to get my health up whereas he just hit Hoarfrost). Additionally it's important to remember that Resistances are not universal, Charged Armor is probably the most useful since it provides S/L/E which are the most common damage types.

The other upside is that a very large portion of my personal defense comes from outside sources (specifically Protector Bots and FFG) so in an Ambush situation I'm not as tough as him. I suspect I also spent more on my build since I ended up using Enzyme Exposures to boost my defense (although I don't know exactly what he has).

What it really comes down to is personal preference. There are a number of good ways to play Bots/Traps so it's more about what works for you and what you're willing to spend.

But does that have to be inherent in the system? I've seen the two new trials in Issue 20 described as 'raiding' but personally I don't see them as such.

What is the definition of Raiding in an MMO? (This is a serious question, I have never actually seen a solid definition). People who don't like raiding in one MMO are unlikely to like it in another because MMOs tend to copy from each other (or more commonly copy from WoW). That doesn't mean that a particular person would necessarily dislike all 'raiding' in all MMOs.

Heck, within the context of a single MMO I've seen people complain that they liked the "old" raiding and dislike the "new" raiding or vice versa (and I've seen this in multiple MMOs.

Another example mmo pvp. There really isn't much difference in pvp from one game to the next. If you don't like killing other player avatars it doesn't matter what mini-games or window dressing they put around it, you're not going to pvp.
Again, not really true. For example I have no interest in PvP here but I did do quite a bit of PvP in STO because I enjoyed it. For me it doesn't come down to killing player avatars or not it's about fun gameplay. PvP here is not particularly interesting for me, PvP in STO was. Sure some people will dislike all PvP but there are plenty of people who fall into a middle ground.

To be honest my experience is exactly the opposite (and I play support toons quite a bit). I can't recall ever seeing someone blame the support toon for them dieing and honestly if I did see someone doing it I'd make a note to avoid them in the future.

Most of the time if I die it's not because some support toon failed it's because I screwed up. For example a few weeks ago I was on the first mission of the LGTF with my Inv/Axe tanker. I charged the Clockwork King and immediately face-planted. Was it the support character's fault? Heck no, it was mine for not remembering to hit Watchman until after I'd charged (and I said as much at the time).

Now sure some people play support characters poorly but that's no different from any other AT except that it's more noticeable. If someone is doing a poor job at it I simply change my tactics so I'm not relying on them and move on.

The idea that support toons are responsible for the success or failure of the team is no different from any of the other fallacies regarding teams (like, must have a tank or must have a healer). Support toons allow a team to perform beyond the point it would without them but at the end of the day all players are responsible for the team's success.

Some people like to go off and solo in missions, as long as the team is doing fine I don't particularly mind (although my personal preference is simply to move first so that people follow me). Sometimes they bite off more than they can chew but that's all part of the fun, worst case I'll scrape them off the floor, pat them on the head and leave them to it.

It's not so much defensive, just frustration. I've been seeing a lot of people doing the "OMG 600 million inf DOOOM!!!!" along with obsessing about the inf cost and ignoring the thread cost (and what that means in terms of time commitment) and it's annoying me. I could understand the complaints if it was the only way or even if it was the best way but from what I can see it doesn't even look like a useful way. In fact if I had to guess I think it's a last minute addition simply due to the complaints about the lack of a solo path.

Anyway, that's it from me (promise).

That happened to me last night. Took us a few minutes to realize why Recluse hadn't spawned. It's slightly interesting since apparently the "official" spawn point for the patrons is some distance from where they actually start (the cyst spawned on the platform beneath the flyer).

    Trapdoor

The other piece of advice is to lure him into the lava (using the -range in taunt and simply brekaing LoS). I did that on my Inv/Axe Tanker and it worked like a charm. The lava killed him while I killed the clones.

Trapdoor is quite a bit harder for a melee character than a ranged character but he is doable. As others have mentioned, getting some temp power (either the dagger or pets) is a good way to do it if yuo're having a hard time.
  24. Yeah, several of the mayhem/safeguard maps are buggy.
