Really though, high level a cyst becomes more of an ally imo 
Destroy it quickly enough and it'll wipe out all/most of the surrounding enemies and if not enough damage output, then simply pull the remaining enemies away from the cyst

I know there are ways to marginalize Shadow Cyst Crystals. I just found it very amusing to come across level 54 ones in the Tin Mage TF. Especially the one next to Director 11. :P

Had that happen during the second half of a Battle Maiden fight during the Apex TF. Quite painful

I may or may not have been on said TF.. I've had it happen to me as well (and I was the PB who "caused" it). Nothing like a cyst spawning with BM and her relentless onslaught of swords to cause a bit of a set back. Their slows can be especially dangerous if you get the entire spawn's aggro.

I was on an Apex last night with my PB and caused a Cyst to spawn next to a Hydra Pylon...
...I forgot what experience means.

That happened to me last night. Took us a few minutes to realize why Recluse hadn't spawned. It's slightly interesting since apparently the "official" spawn point for the patrons is some distance from where they actually start (the cyst spawned on the platform beneath the flyer).
