Quote:You're out 20 million, that's it. If you're planning to run the missions still. If you don't care to keep running the missions, you're not out anything as you can still convert merits.Yes but you will have to reconfirm to get alignment merits and when you do run you will get normal merits.
They stripped your confirmed status from you.
It's not that big a deal. My guess is, they had to reset everyone because their confirmation marker couldn't tell the difference between a pre-confirmed hero and a confirmed one so it was either set everyone to zero, or make all current characters count as confirmed; even if they were not. By setting everyone to zero, they get their mark that unlocks the merits in the SSA.
Sucks, but **** happens. -
It was actually really funny, because I noticed I still had the power. So I popped him with it to see if it worked, and he turned into a dude that ran away as his ex-friends chased him into the lava.

And yes, the Lost curing wand will cure Lemkin. I bugged it and am not sure if that's WAI, but yeah.
Ker-pow! Synapse powers don't help him one bit. -
I think the link on the announcment to the discussion is borked, because it sends me to the "Don't have permissions" page when I click it.
Also, Cool -
Meh, it's not the first time a sith has been cut in half and not die.

Quote:Obviously not because Roy Cooling, Lord Recluse, and Recluse's patrons are aware of Malta.Indigo, Crimson, Shadow Spider, Viridian and Arbiter Daos know the term for the enigmatic group. The rest of the world has next to no idea about the weird, dark-blue dressed operatives that seem bent on making life a living Hell for anybody not progressing the cause of Capitalism.
Not to mention the background information that's been out for as long as I remember (and quoted earlier) Implies that multiple government agencies are aware of Malta as well as veteren heroes being aware of them and reporting on their abilities. That's actually an even scarier thought, that multiple world government's and agencies (and heroes) are aware of Malta's existance and agenda, yet can't prove they exist or take any real offence against them because they're just that good.
Quote:Originally Posted by Eva_DestructionIf he really knows so much about Malta, then he'd be stupid to make that bet.
What I do know is, it's in the script so that's what happens. -
Quote:"We're lucky, though, that they're using Sky Raiders; it means that Malta is trying to have as minimal a presence in this operation as possible. This man called 'Peter' is probably the Malta liason between the Rogue PPD and the Sky Raiders."So if he's at the top of the FBSA and has a lot of influence with the hero community (most of whom had never heard of him until very recently), and he knows a little about Malta, why the hell is he sending relative newbies after them? These are the guys who eat inexperienced heroes for breakfast. Why, I remember back in the day, big tough level 50 tanks would wet their pants at the sight of a Sapper.
Basically he's betting that there's not going to be any Malta there, and it's just going to be Sky Raiders. So there's the in story justification.
And the other justification is, why have any lower level Heroes save the City? It's too much a risk, Positron should get over Vhaz conning gray, and save the Dam himself instead of sending Dr. Thingamajig and his merry band of catgirls. At some point people have to divorce level from the story and just enjoy a decent arc.
Quote:Crimson and Indigo weren't part of any known organization until i6.
I swear Indigo was the only one to call them "Friends", didn't Crimson call them the Malta Group outright whenever he mentioned them? -
So Crimson and Viridian can be a part of an organization that Malta is influencing, and still be aware of them, but that gets thrown out the window for some reason for Roy?
That doesn't make sense. -
Quote:I believe it was Crimson who was wondering why a "Malta Gunslinger" was a bodyguard for a 'Chinese diplomat'? They've been called Malta from the beginning. The Malta Group are supposed to be secretive, hidden and unknown. Crimson, Indigo, Viridian and Arbiter Daos are really supposed to be the only people who have any kind of detailed information on the groups (maybe Shadow Spider, too, considering she's a former Knife of Artemis and Viridian's partner/associate, though her focus is primarily against Indigo and Viridan, and what the KoA know about the Malta Group is never really all that clear; in-story, the Knives are just a mercenary group that the Malta Group hires on a regular basis, which doesn't leave much room for the two groups to get personal). Everybody else who refers to the Malta Group should be talking about them in the same way most other people talk about conspiracy theories, without even knowing what the group is called.
It bothers me when people who never were "in the know" are suddenly showing up and telling you that "Malta" (another irritating part is that they don't even call them "The Malta Group") is involved. "Malta" is what the PLAYERS call the group.
Quote:It boils down to this... There's player/author knowledge and there's character knowledge. Just because we as players know who the Malta Group is doesn't mean our characters do. Saying that "Malta" has been seen in the area helps the players perfectly fine. The character, however, it's a bit jarring unless you've had some experience dealing with the Malta Group. Considering the fact that it comes up in a mid-20s arc, chances are your character hasn't had much experience with them. -
I know I got a bit miffed about Graves, but that wasn't because of the story. That was because the writer wanted to give -my- character a distict voice, personality, and abilities. The idea of an underground tournament of badguys vying for immense power, has often been an interesting topic of exploration.
But when it comes these stories, just because you don't like the story, doesn't mean it's bad. You might not like strawberry milk, that doesn't mean it's bad, it's just not you're style.
I swear there are a handful posters here who could be the only people in the world who hate a story arc, mission, or TF and they'd still say it was the worst peice of trash they've ever experienced.
Say what you don't like, say what you'd like to see, but realize that there are some people who actually like these.
And that's just storyline. People have different preferences to pace as well. It seems some people like the story being popped up in the middle of a mission, less clues you have to click for, and more text bubbles. Where other people prefer the Contact text, and clue text method. It's preference, one isn't more right than others, but my guess is more people prefer the more pop-up method as there has been a shift toward that style. If there wasn't really any reason to add the tech in the beginning, it wouldn't have been implemented, and they wouldn't have expanded it if it wasn't recieved well. -
Quote:I think it was more that they felt that people were relying on super-powered individuals too much. Which would end up with the supers making a power grab and taking over as a "Ruling Class"Wasn't the Sky Raiders problem essentially that they felt they were being ignored in favour of metahuman troops?
And here's Cole, another government of the US, comes over and shows that having metas in the army doesen't neccessarily mean you need to ignore your old pals.
I makes me curious about Praet Durray, and how he got Primal to agree to help them, because that Ruling class fear is embodied in Praetoria. -
If it's Mono AT and not just mono powerset; then I'd say 4 Thugs/Sonic 3, Thugs/Poison, one Bots/Time depending on IO's and if it's allowed to PB farsight. If IO's are Limited or you don't want to consider PB farsight, then start replacing some of the /Poison's with more /Time's.

Two things.
First this:
Quote:I agree, but it isn't just Death Shroud. AFAIK Ice Armor's damage aura is the same way. Same damage/End/Range as Death Shroud and it also has no secondary effect. There's only one thing that I believe should be addressed with Dark Armor.
Lightning Field has a debuff: -end.
Blazing Aura has no debuff, but does extra damage.
Death Shroud has no debuff, and no extra damage.
Either Death Shroud should have some kind of debuff (-tohit is thematic), do some more damage, or have some other advantage like a larger radius or cost less endurance.
Like PleaseRecycle said, though, if the devs start looking at Dark Armor, I think buffs are the last thing I'd expect from it.
Second (and this is just a general statement):
While IO's can't be ignored, the game isn't balanced around them. If, without IO's, a set isn't performing to the same standard as other sets; then that is an issue that needs addressing. Along the same vein, if the set is balanced without IO's then it's just gravy if it pulls ahead with IO slotting.
As to Dark's standing vs other sets? IDK, but if comparisons are made it's best to be mindful about not considering IO's as a part of a set's balance. I.E using the Theft of Essence proc, recovery/+maxend, or IO softcapping as a consideration toward Dark's standing in balance considerations between the sets. -
Quote:Been trying to stay away from this discussion, but I can't let this go.I don't know what you guys are all talking about. I've got Energy Melee on a rather enjoyable Brute, and the only complaint I have is that I wish it looked more like a boxing powerset instead of all the crazy jumping and pushing attacks.
Energy Transfer, before the change, was simply monstrous. I could clear an entire map of Freakshow with just that power. It was like a damn sucker punch that could rip heads off! Here's the kicker: That wasn't a good thing. Everybody's acting like because it was balanced with similar hard-hitting powers in other sets, it's been completely gutted. It's still hard-hitting. It and Total Focus are still monstrously devastating when paired together. You hit just about ANYTHING with both of those powers, and they are very likely to be sore in the morning.
Each powerset has its strengths and its drawbacks. Not a one of them is meant to be "THE MOST AWESOMESAUCE POWER! ROFLOLZ!"
If you've found that you disliked the powerset, then perhaps that style really isn't for you! It's that simple!
Clear an entire map of Freaks with just Energy transfer? No, well you probably could but that would make it even more tedius than it already would have been. The heavy hitters available every 20s minus whatever recharge enhancements you have. For reference, every time you could use Energy Transfer or Total Focus to hit that one guy, someone else could use Footstomp to hit ten. With stone, you get to keep a 1.5s animation And the Mag4 Hold with the same damage as Total Focus.
The thing that was unique about EM was Energy transfer, and it managed to give the set something the others didn't have, and it -DIDN'T- make the set overpowered. I love hearing people say it was because that just reinforced my perspective of the set, where two very nice powers that are so strangely and uniquely powerful can make a set feel so "ZOMG! teh ubr". But big hitters Spread out, at least, 6ish seconds and 8ish seconds (ET and TF) does not an overpowered set make.
Doesn't mean it cant be enjoyable now, or that you arn't allowed to enjoy yours, but it really does need love. -
Quote:I can think of only one TF with the IDF, and it's a cakewalk. And the devs don't have to account for any 50++ in lower level stuff because they lose the +1 and other incarnate abilities. This is pretty close, but oh well, CoH is putting level 50 Imperial Defense Forces and Praetorian OP content in mid-level TFs as well. this is due to the fact that they are overcompensating for the number of level 50++ on lower level TFs. This leads to zerg button mashing non-tactical non-strategic purges that drain inspirations from the auction house, SG base inspiration bins, and hospital nurse vendors. Some people live with it, oh well. I expressed my distaste for it. I am NOT getting a Prince Albert piercing to show off for the boys.

Wow, it would kind of help if he actually said that. It felt more like a random assortment of sentences pulled from Tim burton's head.
As to Sutter being hard, take along a Sonic or FF with the Phase power. Phase Praet Durray, and you'll probably have primal down before it wears off. At the most it will take two casts. -
A tiny suggestion, do with it as you will. Give players a set ammount of time and a predetermined order, and see how many pylons they can destroy with all their Incarnate powers in the given time.
If they manage to take them all down, the person who plants the most bombs.
If multiple people manage to plant them all, the person who get's closest to defeating U'kon.
If people manage to do that in the time given, go with the person who did it fastest.
Would make it harder to organize and judge, but it'd remove any issues with what iPowers to allow, while being a heck of a challenge to boot.
Whatever you decide to do, thanks for taking your time to organize this event. I probably won't attend, but it's awesome to see people invest in the community like this. -
Quote:Ok how about this, my post is about min / maxing. As a Brute you will go Fiery Aura to min/max your DPS.
The Street Justice AOE's only gain a 25% damage buff compared to EVERY OTHER SET gaining a 45% damage buff (And thats total damage buff after enhancements or damage value).
It's only the brute version of spinning strike, it's likely a mistake as the tanker and scrapper versions are correct. -
I will admit it's been a while since I've dug into Physics or Chemistry to any real level, but with that being said.
Isn't a Nuclear Force, the force that keeps the Nucleus together?
And Nuclear Energy is the potential energy, which has been used as an inaccurate but widely accepted name for electricity and power made at Nuclear power plants? (sort of how Global warming is used as a name for Global Climate Change)
I guess I could have become a tad rusty, but I'm not really seeing anything too confusing. -
Quote:Just a note on this.On that note, what do you recommend as an opening move vs. a whole group? I'm torn between using Darkest Night to floor their to-hit and using Fearsome Stare to shut down most of the group.
In my experience, Darkest Night has a bit of a gap between the end of the power's animation and the moment the power actually aggros enemies. Because of this, I've taken to Opening with Darkest Night with the follow-up power (Tar patch or Fearsome Stare whichever is more usefull for the situation) queued up. Usually the effects are applied before the enemies are aggroed and I get the benefit of both. -
I believe the assumption was that if you add the proc to Twilight grasp or Dark Servant (Who has his own Twilight grasp), whenever you use the power or Fluffy uses the power the proc would be applied to everyone hit by the power. I don't know if that's actually true, I've never tried it. However I would trust Microcosm if he's saying it wouldn't work.

Quote:What I've said I wan't to see, is for VIP players to get Guest Passes every so often, with the ability to buy more on the market. Let's say a VIP player Gets 3 guest passes a month. They can invite three Free/Premium friends to run through a SSA branch, or one of the First ward story arcs. Something the Free/Premium player wouldn't normally get to see, and even then just a part of it. With the hope of enticing them to subscribe so they can run the content without restriction.I hope this is a policy that Paragon will change in the future. If a preem buys content he should be able to invite his preebie friends along with him.
It would likely be a good deal of work to implement correctly, but I do think it would help with the stated goal of giving the Free/premium a taste of a game in the hopes that they subscribe. -

My big issues with Graves are,
One:
If you're going to write a voice for my character, make options (aggressive/passive/quip) or stick to the Accept/Dowhatevercontactjustsaid type response.
Two:
Don't impose talent/limitations/behaviors
Submissivness rating of 5
Recognizing an attack and avioding it vs. just taking the hit and shruging it off
Not to mention the record entry on your character.
And while I've ranted about my characters ending up as stupid cowardly henchmen, it also seems to toss in curveballs for players whose characters are supposed to be oblivious, meek, or don't care who they work for as the characte voice isn't consistant through the arcs.
The arc had potential, it just didn't reach it, and the game doesn't have to account for every possiblility to reach the potential these stories have.
