  1. Put me down for also really wanting this on the market. I understand (and have no problem with) waiting a few months before making in-game unlocks go on sale to reward those who spend the time to earn it, however. Two months seems like about the right amount of time for us to have to wait to buy it.

Also, what about allowing us to buy items from the mansion for our bases? I'd pay for that. I'd also pay for a power that allowed me to start the haunted house mission any time I wanted (out of season).

    Pure control

I have an Earth/TA in the mid 40s and I specifically built her debuffing large groups since she has so many AoE debuffs. The plus side is that she is a great force magnifier for large teams. The downside is that she needs large spawns that don't get knocked apart for her to really be effective. I never solo her.

Mind is always an excellent option if you're looking for pure control. You will have holds, sleeps, a confuse, and a repel, giving you a more varied experience that doesn't get as monotonous as some other control primaries. I have a 50 Mind/Kin who is very capable of holding large/multiple groups for long periods of time. The Siphon Speed helps with my recharge and Transference keeps me able to chain cast without running out of endurance.

As a native San Diegan in exile (I had to leave the city I love for the woman I love), my suggestion is to find a motel next to a trolley stop. The trolley will take you right to the Convention Center and is by far the best way to get there. Cities like Chula Vista, Santee, and El Cajon all have reasonable room rates and trolley lines. From Escondido, you still have the option to drive down to one of the many trolley stops to avoid trying to drive in/park in downtown.

My wife and I go every year and we always take the trolley. Keep in mind, the morning trolley will fill up and sometimes not have room for more at the last few stops before the Con (I've seen the Green Line fill up as far back as the Fashion Valley stop). A trolley map is at http://www.sdmts.com/trolley/trolley.asp . The bottom half of the Blue Line and the section where the Green and Orange Lines overlap will probably have the cheapest rooms.

Not really since Good vs Evil is the bundling of CoH and CoV as one product with some extra content thrown in. Granted, they released just the extra content as a de facto booster for players who already had CoH and CoV, but the content wasn't created for the booster so much as the booster was created for the already-made content.

I consider the first real booster to be the Wedding Pack since that is when they first decided to create some additional, theme-based content to be sold as a stand-alone product. They have stated publicly that the success of the Wedding Pack allowed them to hire more staff.

That is a very good point. Some of my favorite characters have been unusual creations or combinations. Take something that isn't in any way steampunk and make a steampunk version of it. For example, instead of making a ninja or zombie character, make a steampunk ninja or steampunk zombie. (Or even a zombie steampunk ninja if you're really feeling creative). Just by merging totally unexpected themes, it creates very interesting ideas. Imagine that your steampunk ninja used sharpened gears as throwing stars. A whole idea for a character is coming to me and that's all just from thinking about what would happen if I mixed a couple of disparate themes.
  6. Mind control with a Victorian magician/mentalist would be a perfect fit, especially if you combine costume elements from the Magic booster.
  7. The steampunk booster trailer looks amazing! I have to actually check it out before I can render my final verdict, but I think it will probably end up as my favorite booster.

I remember talking to Noble Savage at the San Diego Comic Con party last year about ideas for a steampunk booster and I am very impressed with what I have seen. It seems to have just about everything I have been wanting. Hats with goggles on them was on the top of my wish list so I am very glad to see them.

I wish people would stop complaining about the booster packs 'taking away' content or resources from the game. The whole point of the booster packs is to provide additional revenue that allows them the resources to create more content. The booster packs actually cause more content to be created. Granted, some of it is exclusive to the booster, but that's how they get us to buy it, so it has to be exclusive.

When the Wedding Pack (the first booster) came out, its success allowed them to hire more people to work on the game to the benefit of us all. This is what the boosters are for. The only other way to get that extra content would be for them to raise everyone's monthly fee.
  8. I like this reward, though it is always nice to actually get something tangible. Here are some of my ideas for the next vet rewards:

    1) 2 hour recharge Zone Teleport power to one zone of our choice (zone chosen when first claiming reward).

    2) 2 hour recharge Complete Heal power that will heal one target to 100% health.

    3) Permanant +5% to all movement speeds (maybe make it an always on team buff).

    4) Capes unlocked automatically upon character creation.

    5) Increase max number of global chat channels by 2.

    6) Add one extra column or row to inspiration tray.

    7) Permanant Snowball power.
  9. My Mind/Kin was my first 50. I found it to be an amazing combo. Kinetics gives you Syphon Speed, which is great for speeding up your recharge as well as being a poor man's Super Speed. Speed Boost and Fulcrum Shift will make you very popular amongst your teammates. You can sustain longer fights with the endurance refill from Transference and the fantastic heal (slot heavy for accuracy--missing when it's life or death sucks). These two powers will require you to play in up close, so this also gives Mind/Kin a different feel since most trollers tend to stay back from the fray.

    Concept help?

I think that, by far, the best primary is Mind, especially if you're going for the no eyes face. Your character cannot see so it makes total sence that the toon would use the power of the mind to interact with the world. Personally, I see an illusionist thematically as someone with very keen observational skills and, to me, that doesn't fit with your concept.

  11. Despite a very passionate plea from some strange man with a mohawk, the devs decided not to add "Banana Hammock" as an in-game costume piece.

If I am a winner, I permit NC Interactive, Inc. and NCsoft Europe Limited to use my name, likeness, photograph, hometown, and any comments that I may make about myself or this contest that I provide for advertising and promotional activities. I also certify that I am at least 13 years of age and am eligible to participate in this contest.

That worked for me as well. I had to log in and add my Comic Con costume unlock.
  13. 1) The first song that always comes to mind is the classic "The Monster Mash" by Bobby (Boris) Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers

    2) Anything by The Ghastly Ones (especially "Haulin' Hearse" or "Halloween (She Get's So Mean)" featuring Rob Zombie.)

    3) "Bela Lugosi's Dead" by Bauhaus

    4) "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult

    5) Halloween Theme Song

    6) "Black No. 1" by Type O Negative

    7) Anything by Midnight Syndicate
  14. I was on a PUG team red side playing one of my squishies. Between fights, I was chatting, so to keep with the group, I was using /follow. Unfortunately, the toon I was following was a stalker, so when he stealthed into a new pack of mobs to get in position, I ran right in after him. Didn't even have a chance to hit Enter and retake control of my toon before I faceplanted.

Moral of the story: never put a stalker on /follow.
  15. I'm good for Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. I haven't copied my WS over yet, but that's because I'll probably hit 50 first and I want to wait for that if possible.
  16. I'd go with AoE blasters. With 2 Mind trollers, you won't need a tank. And since their secondaries are Defender primaries, that's covered as well (unless you want to go the buffer overload route). Scrappers wouldn't be bad, but most spawns should be locked down tight or attacking themselves, so AoE is really the way to go.

Given that, honestly, the best choice would be 3 toons the others want to play. If they aren't having fun, the rest doesn't really matter. With two Mind trollers on your team, you could bring two Girl Scouts and a trained monkey and still have a strong team.
  17. I'm interested, provided it isn't Saturday.

    Macros

I don't have it in front of me right now, so I can't list the exact code, but I bound (binded?) ALT+Q to Human, ALT+W to Nova, and ALT+E to Dwarf. My fingers never leave the WASD home keys (except the one pressing the key, obviously) and I never accidentally change forms or hit the wrong key. I have found it extremely fast and it's easy to remember since left to right is the order in which you get the form--Human then Nova then Dwarf. Each bind also changes the power tray and the human and dwarf binds change my travel power key ("T" on all my toons) to their respective travel powers.
  19. Telekinesis is fairly situational but can be rather useful. You can never have too many forms of control. Also, it can be fun if you enjoy knocking mobs off of buildings/cliffs.

Repel I hardly ever use and will respec out of (though it can be fun to go Repel bowling or use on mobs in a very small room). Most Kinetics powers require you to be close to the mobs so a power that knocks them back is usually counter-productive. I will be making a PvP build that will definitely have Repel, however.

Edit: My toon is a 50 Mind/Kin and I currently have both powers.

You can mez all the enemies and apply large amounts of -RES and +DMG, but they're probably dead long before you finish using all those powers.
I agree and have had the occasional team where my controlling/debuffing wasn't really contributing much because everything was dying so fast. However, to me a dream team isn't a steamroller team because streamrolling is very easy and easy isn't challenging or fun. I think a dream team is a team that is facing nigh impossible odds and every fight is very close with all members playing at their best.

Nice to see that someone else appreciates the sheer ubery goodness of these two builds. A Mind/Kin can single-handedly control 3+ groups while keeping his team SB'd and topped off on Endurance. Oh, and they also have this power you might have heard of before called Fulcrum Shift. My Earth/TA is in her high 30's and she has 10 powers that have/include AoE debuffs. I don't have an attack chain; I have a debuff chain.

Personally, I've been on an amazing 7 Warshade 1 Peacebringer team, but my idea of a dream team is me + 7 friendly people who know how to play their toons well. I'd especially like to see a team consisting of the least played/"weakest" builds to show that any team with any toons that are built well and played right can accomplish anything. (Plus, I like the novelty of unusual builds).

    Death to Disco!

I ran it solo; It is fun, light-hearted, and shows us just how close we came to a diso-ocroacy. Nice work on the critters' costumes.
  23. So far I'm enjoying the arc and I love your map selection. I had to stop, however, at the 4th (?) mission (the one with the super foggy cave) because of a bug. The text in the popup window and my name in the Nav bar showed up in a gibberish font that looked like a combination of Russian, Greek, and a weird Wingdings that I had never seen before. I tried relogging but the problem persisted. I'll try again another day, but if it isn't fixed, I'll probably just start it over. I already sent a /bug report but I'm curious if you used any special formatting, especially for the character name in the Nav bar, and if anyone else has had this problem.
  24. I will be opting out. I personally hate seeing ads in games/products/services that I have to pay for; I only tolerate ads if what I am playing/watching is free. XM Satellite radio has ads on some of its channels and I make a point to always change the channel because I hate paying to be spammed with ads. In games that are less sensitive to their players, I can see ads on the login screen, ads while zoning, 'buying' virtual versions of RL products in game, ads that take you to their website if clicked on, etc. Worst case senario would be sponsored in-game powers (e.g. "Jolt Cola's Accelerate Metabolism"), though that is very unlikely for several years. I never underestimate the levels advertisers will stoop to, however. I live in Southern California, and even with all of our concerns over smog, global warming, horrible traffic, urban blight, etc, we still have mobile billboard trucks that do nothing other than drive around so we can see their ads while we are stuck in traffic.

I greatly appreciate the option to opt out (and I think that is actually better for the advertisers since I personally have a very strong negative reaction to any product/company whose ads I am forced to view). RL ads completely ruin the escapist atmosphere of games for me. By the same token, however, the fake (and often funny) in-world ads we currently have add to the game and I like them.

    Edit:
Was that even an interview? It read like an infomercial with all the praise the interviewer gave. I have lost respect for IGN (and still would have even if I loved the idea being proposed).
