And I just visited the main page and saw that Issue 20 is live. That explains that. I guess it's time to get out of the library and home to play...after class that is.
-
Must be a new drop...haven't seen any of those and with the date being today..i'm guessing this is part of today's maintenance.
Edit: Also, I cant help but wonder how much it was listed for. -
I think the greatest appeal of this thread is that this has not been done with a min/maxed character, but seems to fit more into the mold of what one would call a casual player in that you have limited time to play, but are still raking in influence by the millions just in one week. it would be awesome to see you hit the billion mark by the end of the week, but even if you don't, I think the point has been well demonstrated that it doesn't take maximum time to earn awesome rewards in this game
Thanks for the thread! It has been fun to watch. -
I've been watching this thread since day two, but just now decided to throw in my guess at 821,201,010

Quote:I know I've been one of those dormant players every now and then, although, the mass of my fortune was built during my last stint prior to my leaving. I have some nicely built toons and a nice stockpile of Enhancements and Salvage in my solo base. I left all of that just sitting there for the better part of five or six months. It was all there when I came back.Something I haven't seen mentioned is the effect of returning players on market supply/inf.
For that matterhow much inf do you suppose is tied up in inactive accounts?
Quote:Also what happens to the stuff sitting in Wents/BM for inactive players? -
Quote:Ah, the joy of costume recipes and temp powers. I must say that I haven't been all to thrilled with the way these items clog up my recipe inventory, but I guess this is besides the point of the thread.I doubt they would ever seed the market. They already know how to increase availability (supply) and reduce prices on the markets for items (see Costume Recipes).
I really don't see the point of seeding, especially with the market merger coming in to play. Generally, the market is quite well stocked Blue Side and I know how much the Reds are rejoicing at the announcement of the market merger. It does seem like the Devs are making it more and more of a challenge to come up with a substantive 'gripe' thread, but people never fail to amaze so we'll see. -
Just browsing the web, it seems that level 1 of the incarnate system will be released with GR and then the subsequent 9 levels will be released at a later date as Issue 19. Assuming ParagonWiki is correct, I don't thnk that's too bad. I finally got on the preorder wagon and am looking forward to August, not only for GR, but for my B-Day as well. August is an awesome month!
Edit: Wow, looks like Dumple and I are practically on the same page. Love it -
Funny that could happen with those annoying prompts that tell you when you're about to bid a significant amount of inf. I guess there just isn't a way to make a system fool proof.

I came back to the game after a stint elsewhere, not knowing that the market interface had been redesigned. I personally don't see what the fuss is about, but I could have missed the bugs that came along with the release. I did have one issue where I listed salvage for much more than I meant, but on the whole, I don't mind the redesign. As long as I can still move my wares, life is good.

*Sniff* I can't figure out if this is a legitimate call for help or just a troll post. I was in the midst of formulating a substantial response, but then remembered all those times these just turned into pointless protestations of the casual vs power gamer perspective.

Congratz! It usually isn't a far step from the 1 Billion mark to the Inf cap. Would be nice to have you in that club too.

Hello Friends, old and new. Several months ago I found myself a little bored with CoX and decided to make a little sojourn to another MMO. After the annoyances of Mohawk granades, experiencing the "joy" of raiding and finding out the necessity of healers and tanks, I am happy to be back where I feel I belong amongst the heroes and villains of City of Heroes.
I have a newfound appreciation for the simplicity, albeit changed, market interface in this game and the seemingly infinitely more easily acquired rare items. It now seems all the more ridiculous to recall the complaints that purples are 'too rare' and that PVP IOs discriminate against the so-called casual player.
I've been back in the game for roughly a week and have already received a purple drop while amongst my favorite prey, the Rikti. I sold it for the going price of 200 million and don't have much planned to do with it just yet while I mull over what alt to create next.
I was a little sad to see that the AE mentality is still roaring as much as ever, but am pleased at the marketing opportunities it affords those of us who still enjoy playing the regular content of the game. The market never dies, commodity values just shift and you just have to have a little common sense to figure out where to.
Bottom line: It's good to be back and I look forward to getting back into the full swing of this game as I wait for Going Rogue to be released. -
Quote:What's the point of a market if you have stores for everything? This^^, in it's entirety, has fail written all over it.You have to love the Ebil ones ability not to hear, or rather hear one thing and run with it to extremes. Its also kind of funny how they shoot themselves in the feet with a Gatling Gun doing it. Id be willing to go out on a limb and say the people that are using the term price cap actually mean fixed price store similar to the ones they buy common recipes, SOs, DOs, and TOs at. People don't care what you sell your goods at, they just want to be able to buy at reasonable prices. (Well most don't Ebil is hardly confined to the marketeers)
Edit: And as Geko has already pointed out, there are still merits and tickets to get a vast majority of recipes. Sure it's mostly random, but guess what, there's a market where you can sell the unwanted randomness and buy the recipes you want. It isn't that hard at all to just run AE for tickets, roll randoms, craft said randoms, and reap profit. Anybody who can't or won't do this is an idiot. -
Quote:Except I wonder if doing the villain content will solidify you further on your path to villainy. This would only make sense. Praetoria would be the bridge from one side to the other, but after doing so much villainous or heroic content, it solidifies your stance on that side. I believe it will be fun to see how it all shakes out.The good thing about this "Vigilante" distinction, is that there are basically little downsides of doing that. It's like sticking your toe it. You don't have to go completely bad, just bad enough to do the villain content and then leave.
I'm working on a villain to have ready for the GR expansion since I've had lvl 50 heroes forever. I'm enjoying the redside content enough that I think I'll be doing a good part of my time there for a while. -
Quote:The thing about these things that are supposed to be difficult and/or impossible is that the Devs are doing them regularly. Wasn't power customization supposed to be difficult/impossible? How about critter customization? The thing that seems to be constantly overlooked is that our Devs have done difficult things. It's just a matter of convincing them it would be good for the game. While much of what you say may be true, You may not realize that raising the influence cap may be far more difficult if not impossible, at least from a practical point, to do with the existing program code.HP Lovecat
Shoot, there was even a handful of threads about a borked drop rate that they needed a helluva lot of convincing about before they admitted there was a problem. It's just too bad we can't prove with hard data that a market merger would be the best thing for the game. I know they can do it if they decide it should be done, nothing impossible about it.
I don't know all of the mechanics of the game, but if Milady's is right about it being a matter of a single character or field that determines which system you're on, it shouldn't be too difficult to change. Aside from a hard programming obstacle, every other excuse for not merging the market hits you like a gust of flatulence. -
This whole classification of fallen hero and reformed villain is completely asinine. There isn't really any side switching, but rather just a softer version of heroes and villains with the establishment of complete access to Paragon and the Rogue Isles.
It sounds more like heroes just develop more of a shady side and a willingness to bend the rules rather than truly making the switch to full out villainy. Villains develop something of a conscience, but never truly become a hero. I think there should be room for the concept of a meta-human toeing the line, never truly declaring allegiance to one side or the other, but GR sounds like this is the only option.
I really don't see any legitimate reason to keep the markets segregated, or access to those markets separate. The only way to remove disparity is to give equal access to either market interface for both heroes and villains or any crossbreed that might appear. -
Quote:Very nicely said. Bravo!!!What annoys me about these threads refering to a "purple problem" is that everyone who ever makes these threads want instant gratification. They want enhancments the easy way, has it ever occured to anyone that because they're ultra rare you have to work hard to get them? You may not have time to farm constantly for an hour every day but you know what you can do? You can learn how to buy and sell at went worths to get closer to your goal of achieving those enhancements and if you choose to not use that system that has been put in place to make money then that is your choice but you forgo any right to complain about purples being to hard to obtain.
So I invite you to educate yourself about how to buy and sell at went worths and make influence there just like i and others have done because the developers will never lower or change anything refering to the drop rates or how you obtain them then their current avenues.
So stop complaining and learn how to make money -
Simple...Long enough to make a nice profit and then move on.
-
Hmmmm....I wondered why I had so many failed heuristic rank checks. Looks like the inf rewards have been altered with the new patch. Fun times!
-
I don't know how Ebil I was, but I did make ~200 million over the weekend just by selling drops I got. I haven't found a new toon to level up so I was enjoying the rewards of the extra influence from running a few of my 'pet' missions.
I vendored any standard IO recipes I got, used salvage to craft memorized recipes with salvage I didn't need and crafted all set IO drops. Any spare salvage got listed on the market at 10 inf a pop, except for any rares. I like to keep a stash in my SG base, but any superfluous ones got listed at about 75% of the current going rate.
This one wasn't as lucrative as the last 2XP weekend, but I still found it enjoyable. -
Just finished a run on my (50) Kat/WP Scrapper (+1/8/NoBosses/NoAVs). Here is the data I collected:
Vendor Values are for Enhancements, Salvage, and Recipes. Inspirations are included in the drop list, but were not factored into the influence earned.

Hmmm...outside of AE, what mission(s) might produce a decent number of bosses? I don't mind doing some boss farming....I could start just going after them in the RWZ. Any other suggestions?

A very interesting table. Hats off to ya, Archie for putting this together and being the repository for all our data. I'll keep my data coming to you as it accumulates. It would be nice to nail these numbers down with a larger sampling.

Quote:I know I'm not the most senior of many players of this game, but I do remember the time before windows when everything I did was on the command prompt on a DOS operating system. Thankfully, this experience has me comfortable with using the prompt to run this script. You're not alone. Most Windows users have never even seen a Command Prompt let alone used one.
I was actually surprised when I typed something invalid and I didn't get the standard "Bad command or file name" when I did something wrong. Ah, the memories. -
Quote:Cims are brutal against /WP with their defense debuffs. I always make sure I have a nice stash of purples to chew on when things get hairy. If you can softcap your melee defense, it goes a long way.I'm having fun and getting pissed at the same time running arcs in Cimeroa. Those guys gang up on my Kat/WP. It's challenging. I had to turn down the mob density. I was running 2+/4 heroes. I had to turn it down to 3 heroes and even still when enough of them get around your it gets hairy
