coXso! Solve the puzzles to win artz!
The best puzzles are the ones whose answers are hidden right in plain sight. I pretty much had a 'Eureka!' moment for the second after I saw there were five columns and noticed it wasn't a 'where is this' puzzle.
The first I only guessed because I remember the last puzzle I did had a forum member as one of the answers (I thought it was War Witch, since I saw Warshade - Shady guy + Lion (never seen that bank before and google showed nothing) - Needle (couldn't figure out if the type had something to do with it, so assumed this and the lion was a Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe reference). So I recognized the character at the front as 'The Shadow' (a series I want to get into), thought 'hey with the wolf and the crow, this sounds like a username on a forum', and looked on the member list. Sure enough, there was someone with a large post count named Shadow Ravenwolf. ...I really wish I had gotten into this community sooner. So many cool people I never met. |
the columns on the off chance it could mean something. Mwhahaha.
My earlier "Tunata" puzzle did give the hint that numbers of occurrence can be significant.
Hmmm. I just googled Orange Lion (the words I would use if I had nothing else to go on)
and "ING" bank is the 2nd result with a big picture of that exact logo. *shrug*
Yeah that's what I hoped for. Someone mentioned that they noticed forumite names
can be the answers so I thought if people got any two parts of the first
puzzle a forumite name search would get em there.
Oh man same here... I've been playing since 2005 but I've only been a serious forumite since end of 2009.
Would've loved to have been around when the Envisionaries (all artist SG) were going strong.
I went with 'Lion Crest' for my own google search since it looks kind of like something you would see out of a movie with a knights and wizardry setting (though I did learn what medieval lion crests look like and some actual meanings behind them so hey, educational!). My brain's always been wired a bit weird, and I tend to over-think puzzles most of the time.
CR: "Dee? I need you to stand on that ridge and do the point emote."
DeeDee: "Eh... okay." *looks slightly scared as she's afraid of hights*
CR: "Thanks!"
DeeDee: *quickly climbs down* "What's it for?"
CR: "Oh, I need a screenshot."
DeeDee: *looks puzzled* "Okay. Glad I could help... I think."
Up untill I saw this puzzle.. I never knew why I had to fear my fear of hights (or falling rather) and climb that ridge. Not that I had a clue of what the screenie meant though. *giggles* But yeah.. glad I could help!

- coXso - It was a memorable time filled with art!
Final coXso puzzle!
Solve it and win a 3D artz by Isikol.
Single character, background of his choosing.
NOTE: Isadore uses 3D art as a base and then paints heavily over it in
photoshop (notice the flowing hair and custom outfit, FX & goggles). More examples in his gallery.
Sooo... this could be your hero/villain/praetorian!
PM me your guesses! Good luck!
.
Pshaw...
That's a fabulous prize (I love the style he's pulled out of that technique)...
I have no concern about admitting that 1) I am an intelligent person, but 2) for some reason I just don't have a brain for puzzles, if you know what I mean.
It's odd, but I've never been very good at them!
Regardless, I love these... I just can't get my head to figure them out!
Great job!
Still contemplating this one, but... it's nuts (in a way that I can't seem to relate to, lol)!

Looking over how previous puzzles were solved may give you all a clue or two.
I definitely have some of it, but it's not making sense yet, haha... really awesome job...

Argghhh, stayed up till 2am trying to cook up an answer... I got one, but I'm not sure I'm right.
I AM sure I am going to be hurtin' in the morning

Wow, that's a whopper of a puzzle.
Regardless, thanks Llydia and DarthDelicious for the congrats, and good luck to everyone working on solving this puzzle!
I think I found something in that puzzle that probably wasn't even meant to be there. And now it's going to permanently screw with my ability to objectively look at it.
Well first let me just say that was a tremendous response. Filled the last 30 (of 2000) spots in my inbox again.
Secondly, let me say after wading through all the answers this is amazingly still open.
Even more impressive is that everyone seems to be getting a different piece
wrong than almost everyone else. Some are very close though.
This maybe my most evenly matched puzzle yet.
Thirdly for all those (in good fun) virtually shaking fists in PM and private at the
lost sleep and mental anguish this brain teaser has caused allow
me to say...
Made more room in my inbox, have at ye!

Hate it when that happens.
After it's been solved I'd be curious to know what you think you discovered.

At the risk of your inbox, can we guess more than once?

I'm also assuming that since this is all one image, that this is a single phrase. I presume it's at least valid to ask about that.
Still open! Surely someone will put it all together and win... I'm kinda surprised SinStalker, HeroMaster
and some of the others who were vocal in wanting 3D art aren't trying for this?

I think I nailed it, pm sent
You did indeed!
Congratulations ToadLiquor.
Because I know people will ask, it goes...
1. No More (ingame protest sign to be read literally)
2. Art (random painting chosen and made too small to draw attention to any details)
3. Sew (picture of a woman using a needle and thread to sew)
4. All Access (this section of the forums note the dashes giving away the # of letters)
5. Can (unremarkable on purpose metal can)
6. Go (green traffic light, green means go!)
7. Back To (Two backwards, clues include the last letter being capitalized again as
in a prior puzzle also the letter direction is a word as in the "heads up" display puzzle)
8. Ignoring (Igneous minus Neo minus US {leaves "IG"} plus Stephanie Peebles from Striga.
Her plight is her wedding ring was stolen. I used photoshop to darken everything around except her
hand to which I added a light patch of skin to show she currently has "No Ring" on. IG+NoRing= ignoring)
9. Orange Text (An orange behind the word text. The color all my text has been for the 3+ years I've been on the forums)
How it reads:
"No more art so the All Access can go back to ignoring the orange text."
(I would still have accepted if either "the" was missing as they are not actually
in the puzzle or any other minor variation as long as all the individual pieces were correctly solved)
What it means:
Running joke that even though I have the largest, most viewed art thread on the forums
(stickies don't count) over in the 606 section, over here in All Access, unless I
am giving stuff away my posts are generally ignored.
Ding!

Man, I had that and just never had confidence in the ig part. Then I over thought the orange text... "orange text means uncommon loot drop!".
I almost sent you a guess with "ignoring", but I didn't think (at that point) to use "ignoring orange text".
Maddening to be so close when I am admittedly not usually very good at these things.
Still hate you!!
(still kidding!)
Great job, CR!!
And congratulations, toadliquor!

Never noticed the ring. I knew ABOUT the ring, but just... no. So I was stuck with trying to match IG up with everything from IG-Steph (In-game stuff?) to trying to find every word for female from girl to lady to crone, trying to find something that it mixed with.
And I was right about the other thing I caught being irrelevant. Actually 2 things.
The backstage pass. 9 blank dashes representing letters. Which just happen to be red, which implies a red-name. 3 on the first line, 6 on the second, which just happens to be the same number of letters that spell HIT STREAK, who happens to be the only remaining active employee at PS that we're aware of.
The other thing though... my goodness, of ALL the pieces of art you could have used for that image. I have to wonder if this was actually a Freudian slip. That painting is a depiction of Persephone being abducted by Pluto (aka Hades, aka THE DEVIL) to the Underworld. Or less specifically, Persephone was a beautiful thing being taken to the grave by a rather nasty god, a place where she did not belong. Kinda like a certain game that is being sent sent to its demise by an equally nasty entity. And what picture did you have immediately before it? The in-game protest sign.
So, probably without even realizing it, you put SaveCoH in your puzzle.
Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod...
ChristopherRobin thank you so much for the chance for me and my fellow players to preserve a part of this game and a extra huge thanks to the artists for giving their time and talent.
My best friend and I have been playing this game for about 7 years, and my wife has been playing for about 6. The three of us have been getting together at least once a week to play and like so many other folks have posted, the news of the game shutting down was just so sad. We had a small supergroup on Triumph (D.Y.S.F.U.N.C.T.I.O.N.A.L. Misfits) and Liberty (The Ombudsmen) and got a chance to play with some great people- special shout outs to the sg mates @Juniper Tonic @Acataclysm @Arched Angel, @Doc Nite Shock , and @K2 Spirit
As bad luck would have it, my video card crapped out last Friday night and I haven't logged on since, and don't think I will have the computer fixed in time for sunset. When I came upon this puzzle this morning I decided that if I won I would give the prize to my wife so she could have a souvenir of a game we shared, something to immortalize her main. So anyway, early xmas present for you hon!
This game has been so much fun and I was really bummed the way my playing time ended, but this makes up for it to have something for her. Again thanks for those sharing their artistic talent for this gift.
I never posted very much on the forums but lurked regularly and ran PUGs all the time in game. The fans of this game are unlike any other, truly Super.
I could really go on for pages because the game memories are playing in my head right now, but it's all just "tears in rain". Take care, be safe, good luck to all.
Congratulations, toadliquor! And a huge THANK YOU for figuring it out! It literally was haunting my dreams.

Thank you, ChristopherRobin, for all the brain teasers! They and the events have been a big treat (even as an occasional minor torture) these last few weeks! *Hug!*
PS Sorry, ChristopherRobin, but you are on my daily-watch radar now so I'll continue to lurk-watch everything you do on the forums and at deviantART. ;->
