So, how goes the betting pool on where it's going to hit?

They're still projecting it to hook left and come ashore in southern New Jersey... where it will no doubt do millions of dollars worth of civic improvements...

i'm betting it's close enough to me that i've laid in a supply of water, firewood, batteries, and dry/canned foods.
Already received a message that the studio will be closed tomorrow, so no work either.
Rum time!

and don't forget self heating coffee. As we found out a few years back, this can be essential when the power goes out and you MUST have coffee.

D cells. Who would have thought that they can be used as an alternate currency? Most people were betting on gold. Pffft! You can't power a flashlight, radio or LED lantern with gold.

I was at my local market before closing today. For some reason they were completely out of Kraft Italian dressing. Not something I would have thought they would be a run on.

I was surprised by the number of people buying ice cream. I guessing they are secretly hoping for a power failure so they have an excuse to gorge. I'm pretty sure plain old water ice would be better to pack a freezer with.

Unfortunately, I underestimated my stock of canned and dry food by the time I thought about it. I can probably get by for a week if I had too, but it's not as much of a buffer as I'd like if all this power outage hype comes be realized. The canned cat food isn't much better and my cat has been finicky about the dry stuff.

Anyway, it's starting to get a bit windy here. Public transit service is shut down, so I'm working from home as long as I have power. I'm living in Jersey now, but I'm in-land a bit and not near any rivers or streams. Although, my neighbors tell me that that depression I have in my back yard was once the brook that gave this street I'm on its name

Speaking of power, maybe I should start a Dr Q TF. I've never been the one that would disappear after a couple of missions only to reappear just before the last mission due to "loss of power". Now's my chance to achieve this milestone in my COH experience!

School was called off for our town and every town around us here in MA. I called out of work.

WOO!

It's supposed to hit us around noon. It's 8AM and quite blustery and rainy here already, though, so I've got candles, books, and a fresh pot of vanilla chai tea on the stove just in case.

Yeah, here in PA schools are closed. I hope the local court house is too. I have to go there to fight a traffic ticket today. I don't wana.

Lights keep flickering, but so far still have power. A fair number of friends in the same area are without power, so no guarantees. Of course i'm a bit north of Jersey, so outside the worst of it, but not by much.

Stay safe people!

It sucks to be without power. I was without power last Winter for 3 1/2 days. :/

My lights have flickered occasionally since noon-ish, but I still have power. The wind, though, is now really loud.

A side benefit of the wind so far, is that it has shaken out 3 moderately large dead branches from the oak trees in my back yard (only 2 are visible here). Less threat of sudden death from above in the future.

Stupid continuous storm coverage, not going to able to see Castle tonight. Now that it's night we can't even watch stupid reporters getting swamped by surf or blown about like debris.

I live near Detroit and even we're getting harsh winds. All day it's been ridiculously and constantly windy. Nothing dangerous at all, though. We're probs getting small leftovers.

I live in Philadelphia. Work was closed both yesterday and today. And even if it wasn't, with public transportation shut down, I wouldn't have been able to make it in anyway Driving through downtown is hard enough, even without hurricane conditions. Public and Archdiocesan schools were also closed, as was city government offices.

Mass transit is mostly back up and running, so I'll probably have work tomorrow.

Aside from work being closed, I was lucky that there was not damage to my house or loss of power. In fact, my mother commented that our backyard has gotten worse flooding from conventional storms.

While being hit with this storm does suck, for me, it's better that it hit now and not next week, when I'll be leaving for a vacation to Munich. That would've been a complete disaster for the trip I've been planning for months to be ruined by one ill-timed storm.
