Call to Action: Contact NCsoft Directory
Okay, I sent this out to all three of them:
Dear Sir,
I am sorry to bother you, but after two weeks of constant media attention concerning NCSofts impending closure of City of Heroes, NCSoft has still made no public response or alternative offer to continue on with the CoH franchise via sale to another publisher, so here I am.
I just want you to know that eleven people in my family have all played City of Heroes for over eight years since it has launched. Three generations of gamers in my family (grandparents, kids, cousins and grandkids) have found an online game like no other that allows us endless customization and role-play opportunities, as well as endless content to enjoy together. Not to mention that the community in CoH is outstanding and we team with pickup groups there and make new friends constantly!
Please consider selling the City of Heroes IP to another publisher or investor and quickly, before the Paragon Studios developers find other jobs and the team is lost forever.
It is apparent through the world news that Koreas MMORPG business is in an upheaval and beyond that, since Nexons 14.7% stock buyout, you need to focus your energies on what they want too. But please dont forget the thousands of North Americans and Europeans who have paid you for eight years to play your game. If it gets shut down permanently, they have nothing to show for all those years of time and money spent.
And also do not forget NCSofts prior history of game shut-downs: Tabula Rasa, Auto Assault, Dungeon Runners, Exteel, etc. Im sorry to say your company is getting a bad reputation for not supporting your multiplayer games in North America and Europe, and I wouldnt be surprised if all the negative media attention concerning City of Heroes closure hurts Blade & Souls sales here.
I am trying to be reasonable, especially in light of the fact that CoHs closure and Paragon Studios layoffs occurred *after* Guild Wars 2 had already launchedlargely seen here as a way to avoid a boycott of the game by City of Heroes players.
Please reconsider killing off City of Heroes: At this point that means selling the IP, game, servers and accounts/cash shop or as much of the game as humanely possible to another publisher. The new publisher would get a built-in loyal fan base of players right away, and NCSoft would get some much-needed (especially in light of Blade & Souls impending release here) good publicity.
Thank you for your time,
Denice Cook and family
Devoted City of Heroes fans
To the naysayers,
if you read the post you'd understand that nothing has changed, and you be needing to knock on some doors to get some attention.
Thanks TonyV for being a hero in all this. Very impressed!
Should we use Google Translate to turn our emails into Korean?
@Rien
I am Lord Omi. Now and forever. They can take our City, but they can't take me.
This looks like a spectacularly bad idea. With these e-mail addresses in the open any one can use them. For any reason. I think it would have been better if you had done a slow roll out via pm or personal email to people you know could be trusted to do something constructive with this information.

I say go for it. Speak from the heart, don't go off the deep end, and do it NOW. Before they block or change emails.

Personally what I find sad/amusing is that the CEO uses davinci for his email.
Warning sign people. He aspires to be some sort of super genius that he clearly isnt.

E-mails sent.
On a side note, every time I see Tony post is reminds me of a recent song.
If you was ever going to have a campaign song for Save Our City I believe this to be perfect and it being released around the same time we heard the news seems like a good coincidence.

Too many 50's to list here's a few you may know.
Slazenger, Area51, Area53, Area54, Erruption, Mind Plague, Thresher, Sheath, Broadside, Debt
I've got a bad feeling about this.
I'll just repeat what I posted on the Titan forums. I believe this is not the direction we want to go in. Especially when it's only 2 weeks out and there appears to be an expectation of response. So because we're not getting that response we are moving to spamming their inbox. They are not on our timeline. We've sent them actual letters because we thought it was better than email which is easily ignored. People have strong reactions to floods of emails, and usually it is not good.
The only reason I see that we're doing this email route is because they're not responding as rapidly as WE think they should. That is not a good reason.
I'm behind the movement and all we've done. I think we should continue our efforts and get more media attention. I think mailing letters, capes and masks is great. In game events, videos. We need physical representations of our love of the game and why we want to save it. We need to show that we are real people, we do that by sending real letters, and items to make people real to let them know this decisions is harming real people.
Doom.
Yep.
This is really doom.
I...People have strong reactions to floods of emails, and mostly it's not good.

And the worst they can do is continue to not care. At best, they can reevaluate their decision or add the possibility of selling the IP pronto.
And this idea also involves finding a pro publisher who actually wants an 8 year old MMORPG with millions in maintenance and development costs every year. Heck, I love CoH as much as anyone, but "kickstarter-type fan funding" isn't going to cut it for long with CoH. We need a pro publisher and we need one now, before Paragon Studios fades away completely.
I say any reasonably-phrased attempt to get NCSoft to sell CoH (as they're probably so tied up with Korean disruptions and with whatever their new overlords, Nexon, require of them that they're probably giving no thought to CoH at this point whatsoever) is welcome about now. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and all that.

So that's the only possible reason you believe someone could possibly chose that as their email address? Or is it that you already believe that of him, so you just choose to try to fit the world to that opinion you already hold?
|
I mean they didn't even try to shop CoX for another producer did they? They didn't give any warnings before laying off Paragon did they?
I admit, I could be wrong about this guy. But the continued silence amoungst all the other things makes me doubt it.
Anyway. I'll go.
I have a long history of silence here on the boards and I should probably get back to that, even if my dig did make me feel better.
Have a pleasant.

I sent an email to all 3, and I kept it civil, thanks for this TonyV.
Cancel the kitchen scraps for widows and lepers, no more merciful beheadings and call off christmas!
...I agree with Captain E. But I'm going to wait until Monday before doing this; I want to give the red-names the opportunity to respond if they wish to.
One note further: Including static image links to eg Leandro's rally pic or Paragon pic will make the email that much more powerful, but at an even higher risk of getting filtered. So flip a coin and go with it. |
While that may be true in theory... it's also true that adding attachments will make it more likely that your email will get labeled as spam by their filters.
Emails sent to all three addresses. I stressed the importance of the community (and how it should be allowed to continue) as well as my personal and professional stake in the game, all in a 100% positive way. I hope it helps.
