Amusing GW2 review - light profanity

Heh, right now my guild consists of a 2-man guild that Haunt and I set up for more banking space, and a meta-guild called "Roleplayers" so we can wear an [RPer] tag over our heads when we're looking for RP. It works GREAT. There's no IC belonging to the guild, it's purely for the tag.
Yep, Piken Square is a EU server. We can still talk though! Or even join eachothers' guilds. It's neat.

Though I think my Sylvari is about to get hijacked into another ACTUAL RP guild after last night. She's so hilarious to RP

That's awesome, I wish I'd thought about the RP tag.

The multi-guild system is pretty neat, but takes some getting used to. It was a little confusing at first.

We didn't make the guild so I can't claim credit, and there's a couple other guilds even on TC that are doing things like it - I've seen a Roleplayers guild with an [LFRP] tag, and an [IC] tag, and an [RP] tag.

It's fun, whenever I meet someone out in the world who's fun to RP with and doesn't have a tag already, I ask them if they want one. It's kinda brill because the whole guild basically becomes a network of people you can ask for IC-questing/grouping or RP whenever you feel like looking for it.
Too bad they didn't put that much love into CoH.

In what way?
The features and the game itself are entirely the love invested by Anet devs, not NCsoft.
Sure, NCsoft gave them money to develop, but they did that for Paragon studios for the last 5 years too, so, I'd say they gave COH exactly the "love" they're giving GW2.
GW2 is getting better media promotion, that's true. BUT, a good portion of that is reviewer/gamesite based, and COH was almost 3 (I believe) when NCsoft acquired it, not a brand-new game.

Quote the whole sentence why don't you.
And that's the point. We never had a shortage of talent, but a major shortage of resources.

NCSoft gave PS money to develop this game for the last 5 years, and saved it from closure.
I'm not pro-NCSoft, but your argument is pants-on-head.
But you said it already. We never got the advertising that promoted new subscriptions. Even after F2P, NCSoft never treated CoH as well as this.

They didn't treat GW1 this well either.

It's just "new game" promotion. Like I ACTUALLY said. When they acquired COH, it was already 3 years old. And I really do not know the ins and outs of what's the responsibility of NCSoft and what's the responsibility of the development studios as far as media promotion goes. Is Anet paying for all this press out of their own media budget, or is NCsoft? Did PS neglect to advertise the hell out of COH, or did NCsoft? We literally do not know.
What I DO know is that every new MMO that's been released in the last 5 years or so has been promoted to hell and back, and then quietly vanishes from the scene and is relegated to sidebars on MMORPG and such. Except WoW, which is the exception to everything.
