Do you actually think we'll make it to November?
No, not really. I am HOPING that I get that entire three months, but a part of me really doubts it. I expect the forum to go down a long time before then. From my understanding, its pretty much just all been scrapped. Leaving the servers up was probably just to prevent a mass storming of their headquarters by angry gamers demanding blood. This way we have time to say goodbye, and don't immediately resort to violence.

Devs would post more if they could say "hi!" without people whining because they wanted them to say "hello".

I didn't mean it literally. This give a grace period, a time for people to calm down, without a sudden and abrupt end. Of course considering that no one is around to take care of it while its running, we'll see if it KEEPS running, or if the hamster runs off the wheel.

Virtue is already down.
Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.
Seriously? The servers are being taken down already?
I remade this thread in General Discussion (where I thought I posted it the first time) so that all may reply.

Its not taken down. People overloaded it logging on to say goodbye or what have you. The question is, is anyone going to be around to fix that?

Actually, it's back up now.
Goodbye. Not to the game, but the players. Goodbye. Everyone, remember to have fun. That's all I can say.
Then that answers the question. Yes. We'll make it until November.

From what the announcement has said, I don't think everybody is completely kicked out of the building yet. All development has stopped, but they only said they're "beginning preparations" to sunset the game (there's a euphemism if ever I've heard one). If nothing else, they can't very well just leave the servers on, the forums and website unchanged, etc, and hope that they magically turn off at some point without server techs/web designers/etc to actually do that.
The game servers are not hosted on-site at Paragon Studios, they're I think at NCSoft's Austin facility*. There will be people there to maintain them until the shut down date.
*I could be wrong about where exactly, but regardless, they're at another location.
Pretty sure they're in a Dallas datacenter, actually, but would have to double check.
When did they consolidate them to one location? At one time there were some located on the east coast and a group on the west coast.
"The only thing to crave is Immortality, and Death is the last rube to cheat."
They trained the Rikti to drop Fire on people, but they won't let them write (Censored) on their spaceships because it is obscene!
Years ago.
It will last until November. They wouldn't announce that without buy-in from NCSoft or whatever licensing issues may be.
"Hey! You knocked generic cola all over your precious D20 books!"
ED: Now I know how Nancy Kerrigan felt: "Why...?!? Why...?!?"
I never played Earth & Beyond but my friends did, and from what I remember the servers stayed up for several months after it closed, but got increasingly unstable as time went on. That's sort of what I expect here too.

I've been thinking about this for a few hours, and decided to be a doomsayer.
If they actually did fire everyone, what are the chances that the servers will actually remain stable and running until November? For that matter, what is stopping NCsoft with flipping the switch on Monday and shut it all down with no fanfare?
I really don't want to seem like a Gloomy Gus, but if I were a betting man, I would say that November 30th (or whatever the exact date is if I got it wrong) might be a long shot.
