Comprehensive list of known upcoming Powersets?
A mix of Positional Defense/Regen (that means a clickie self heal) and a side of Psi/Smashing Resist. It'd make for a good durability set imo. Something that would fit the likes of Wonder Woman and Spider-Man imo (since they can take the beating...less the sharp pointies).

Or... Primalist was reworked to be a MM set maybe?

Only if you consider giving a definitive "It's been canceled" rather than some ambiguously-worded statement (one with at least four different interpretations) to be a "reward for breaking the rules."

It's only ambiguously worded because people are going out of their way to find ambiguity. Had he come out and said "There is absolutely no way we will be making any new ATs," we'd have posters saying "Well, he didn't say they don't have a new AT MADE already. It must be in the bag and on its way out the door!"
My story arcs: #2370- Noah Reborn, #18672- The Clockwork War, #31490- Easy Money
Sartre once said, "Hell is other people." What does that make an MMO?
No, it's ambiguous because it doesn't acknowledge the powers that were seen on beta.
Saying "We are not working on a new AT" by itself is not ambiguous. But it becomes ambiguous when coupled with the known existence of two full powersets that explicitly reference a new AT.
I'm not sure how much more clearly I can explain this without running afoul of the moderators. I could spell it out the source of the ambiguity more specifically in PMs, if you like.
But EATs are just a subset of ATs. Excluding the latter also excludes the former.
Using "No new Archetypes at all" to mean "no new regular Archetypes, but here's a new epic Archetype" is like saying "We are not building any new houses. No houses at all. None"... then showing off a new brick house and adding "I meant no new houses made of wood or stone." If that really is what he meant, then twisting the language like that is about as far from "brutal honesty" as you can get. As much as I do feel there's something screwy somewhere, I don't think Zwill's the type of guy to do that. |

What you may see if you look about poking in data files is just remnants of an abandoned project.
Does this mean you will never see a new AT? No. But at this point it's more likely whatever new AT you see a year or two from now (if any) will be an entirely new project and not that one.
Why was it abandoned? Beats me. It may have taken too long to produce. It may had just been too hard to balance and retain it fun. Or it may simply had been considered entirely unfun. It's irrelevant because it was never actually announced.
For me, energy aura came to mind, except energy aura has no psionic resistance.

I don't know how a combo armor set would work. Having to detoggle just to switch your combo seems to be a lot of work just to adjust your armor to a different situation. I guess they could make it mainly a click set. The powers have a 5 minute or so duration and a one minute recharge so people can change when they want. That would cause people to stop in the middle of battle to keep their protection up though.
Dirges
With the exception of the Smashing Resistance, that sounds a LOT like Ninjitsu.
|
I'd also prefere the mez protection in a toggle as I find it annoying to put on auto and keeping track of it gets annoying.
I could go Ninja and take Tough, but this is really just about the feel of the set. Lethal objects hurting more. Being able to take that super strength hit on the other hand is a bit easier. While having the willpower (psi resist) to keep one's wits about them and a bit difficult for those psi types to get at you.
While have the moves to duck and weave. It what I see in Wonder Woman and Spider-Man, obviously with WW focused a bit more on the Smashing Resist, while Spidey is going for the agility.
The regen/heal is that they recover fast from these fights.
And really, I just think a Def/Regen defense set would fit what /I/ want for my main. So, I fully admit it's a personal want (though it appears others like the idea )
As for the combo system. Was click toggles on in certain order and one would get bonus, but I guess with the instance hoping that that could be a problem
But I'd settle for the set without any gimmicks!

Officially, Primalist never existed. You cannot definitively state that something that never existed has been cancelled. The closest you can get is definitively stating that no new ATs are being worked on.
I really should do something about this signature.

Spidey's pretty classically SR (+Fighting pool) and Wonder Woman's almost definitely WP with a huge Lethal defense bonus (too bad there's no Melee/Lethal +def move in StJ, or you could make her if we get a Scrapper whip APP).
That's... basically Willpower, except lacking Lethal and with positional Defense instead of typed.

Typed defense (ie...deflecting) isn't positional defense (ie...dodging). It's all about the feel of the set.

Until I see something that states to the contrary, going to assume VK is right .

Well, expecting a new AT called Primalist and never getting it is a punishment. So yes.

Exactly.
Sure you can. Just say, as I said, "We were trying out a few ideas, but they didn't work out."
|
The "ideas that where being worked on" could be taken to be anything at all.
"We are not working on any new ATs" is 100% specific, with no room for ambiguity unless you work really hard at self-delusion.

That's even vaguer and less informative.
The "ideas that where being worked on" could be taken to be anything at all. |
And although I said they wouldn't have to name names, that would make things even less ambiguous if they did. "We were working on ideas for a new AT we were going to call the Hamburglar (or "Rhymalist" if you like), but even though we put all the powers in, we couldn't get the cheese to melt over the bun, so we had to abandon it." They could play it off as both announcing it and cancelling it in a single sentence.
Zero ambiguity, zero cause for speculation.

Let me put it this way:
Say you drive by an empty lot every now and then. One day, you notice that the guy who owns the empty lot and a bunch of construction workers on the land, all working on a building that's looking nearly complete. You can't stop and talk to them then for some reason, so you hurry on.
A few weeks later, you're driving by the lot again, and there's a 20' tall fence around the property, so you can't see the building anymore. You bump into the lot owner and ask him about the building and the fence. And he answers "Let me be brutally honest: I'm not building anything on my property."
And that's the only answer you get. You ask "But what about the construction I saw?" or "But then what's behind the fence?", but he refuses to answer that, or even acknowledge that you've asked any further questions.
Would you consider that answer 100% unambiguous? Or would you note the oddly-specific wording and lack of further answers (combined with you seeing him building something with your own two eyes) and go "Hm, something is weird here"?
Well, I'm going "Hm, something is weird here." So are other people. (Players who have been in the game much longer than I have and know Devspeak pretty well. Several in this thread alone, if you care to look)
Especially since the Devs (and Zwill in particular) are usually quite happy to talk about abandoned ideas and failed developments, so this seems like Marketing-speak (followed by Marketing-imposed silence) rather than an actual denial.
I'm afraid I may have put Zwill on a spot here, and I didn't intend to. This isn't actually directed at the Community team, or Devs, or at Marketing, or at the company at all.
I'm just explaining (in more detail than I'd originally intended, but apparently short explanations don't work) why there is still some cause for further speculation here, despite the denial.
There is no reason to speculate. They said they aren't working on any ATs, so unless they were flat-out lying, they aren't working on any ATs.
If they had finished working on an AT, it would have been announced already.

Synapse may say clearly everything you suggested and then some one will turn around and say that he never said he would not revisit it a month from now. He clarifies that and then people will look for another logic loophole.
Not only will they never be able to ever fully make those that don't want to believe to accept it, but they also will end up unofficially announcing the creation.
BTW: The devs try out ideas on a daily basis. Lots of stuff get mocked up and never actually pursued because of many factors.
One last thing, ATs are not player exclusive. There may be many things the devs may be working on that made them create temporarily powers that, from some one fishing for data, would appear as player sets. An example can be a dev exclusive AT intended to play-test some future NPC abilities.
The possibilities are quite varied and many reasons may exists for them to not be in a position to even acknowledge any plans for anything people noticed in files.
