Grant Cover or Physical Perfection?? Help!

My Broadsword/Shield scrapper just hit lvl 44. My question is, which power should I choose? I always play pve and I always prefer to play on a team. Is Grant Cover a good power to have? Based upon the description, it can boost up my team mates defenses. Physical perfection looks interesting because of the endurance modification. Suggestions please! Thank you

Well I was going to ask: "are you selfish or not?" (ie. do you play on teams or solo more? ).

Since you play on teams I'd say Grant Cover. However, if the teams you play on are mainly ranged toons with you they might not care about Grant Cover.

It's a somewhat-small PBAoE around you and I think it gives 4-10% (forgot) defense. So if they aren't near you a lot then it doesn't help and even if they are near, it may not help that much.

Either way I'd get both...Grant Cover can be a 'set mule' for you if you ever plan on using IOs

Grant Cover gives about 13% Defense to all (assuming it's fully slotted) to your teammates. It gives no defense to you. The resistance to recharge and defense debuffs applies to both yourself and your teammates.

Physical Perfection is basically a mini version of Health and Stamina combined into one power.

The defense debuff resistance in GC is very valuable, since defense failure can be devastating to defense based characters. If you aren't having any endurance problems right now, take GC, for both your benefit, and your teammates'.

If you ARE having endurance issues, take Physical Perfection, but try to make room for GC later, or find something you can respec out of to pick up GC - it really is a very beneficial power.

Ooh good point; I'd forgotten about the debuff resistance that GC gives.

do you have end issues? or regen issues? phys/perf has proc ability for that. However the grant cover has proc ability i think for you too in the def catagory. Recharge, to hit, kb etc....

I do have some endurance problems. I might get physical perfection. But Grant cover sounds good too. I really don't like toggles but the defense buff might be helpful for my teammates. Ah the dilemma lol

Question: What does your build currently look like?

If you can post a copy of it here we could make some suggestions to help optimize it for you.

I took both actually and a Broadsword/Shield scapper is my main and my first level 50.

Here is my build as he is now.
I usually don't team but the debuff resistance from grant cover is nice.

Just out of curiosity, why would you(or anyone else who may be watching) not like toggles. They are some of the strongest defenses out there, and its not like they used to be when mezzes detoggled and you had to reset them every time you got stunned. Heck, they even stay on between play sessions now.

As dumb as I'm sure it sounds to a lot of people, this is one of my single favorite developments of the past few years. So happy to not have to log into a toon and spend the first 30-60 seconds turning on my toggles.

Agreed. One thing that particularly annoyed me (and still hits me when I retoggle after dying or being exemplared) is hitting the buttons too fast and activating one while the previous is still queued, meaning that one doesn't get turned on. It happened so often at first that I still always put my mez protect toggle (when I have one) in the first slot that I hit, to make sure it's never skipped.

As someone with more than a few toons with Fly, it's nice to log in and not find my toons plummeting to the ground.

I miss that. I used it as a kind of mini-game.
