New Futurama tonight
I wish I'd've known sooner, but alas I missed it.
Goodbye may seem forever
Farewell is like the end
But in my heart's the memory
And there you'll always be
-- The Fox and the Hound
The only real criticism I had was the selection of VA for Bev in the first episode. I am not a fan of Wanda Sykes.
First ep had the best title caption ever. Of all time.
Goodbye, I guess.

That was awful so awful I turned it off after 10 minutes. Seriously robots having babys cause there is not enough robots being made in factory's!?!? stupid as **** and it didn't help that the vending machine was your typical strong black women. Ughh what happened to you Futurama.

"As our writers come into a more mature age, theyre exploring deeper themes, because thats what happens to us when we get old. When we started, all our writers were in their 30s. Now, theyre in their late-40s. Some of them are in their early-50s. This show was a little more joke-driven, gag-driven. Now, were exploring things like father-son relationships, what it means to love, what is God."
I didn't see last night's episode, but it sounds like maybe they should go back to their jokey, gag-driven roots.

Oh come on the chick robot was against alcohol, yes you read that right the very thing the show has stated to power robots from the very start. It just felt like who ever was writing that episode had no idea about the world it was based on or the fans who watch the show.

That's not exactly something that's never been used before. The episode where the robots rebel (and the Prof gets some hot, dry love with Mom) had Greeting Card stating that alcohol will be banned in the new worker's paradise. Then there was the time Bender got religion and decided that mineral oil would replace his booze consumption.

Also when Bender was Lost in Space the tiny life forms accessed his nuclear pile and made bombs.

They did, however, make Godweiser or something like that. One of Bender's "miracles" was to reflect light onto the crops used to make his booze. He ended up setting them on fire.

Quite true, but it still asks the question: if robots are powered by alcohol why would Bender have a nuclear pile?

Not to mention all the times Bender has been damaged or smashed to pieces and there is no nuclear explosion
Backup power supply? He was able to survive for <x> million years while waiting for the crew to turn into oil and however many years he spent in the cavern beneath the Planet Express building with his swag.

Ok, I'm having a memory error here: what episode was he waiting for the crew to turn into oil? I havent seen all of Season 6 or this new ep yet

As to hiding in the limestone caverns beneath Planet Express, I would imagine that he would simply shut down with a subroutine in place to reactivate him at a specific time. He kept coming back up from the caverns the instant after he left so I suspect he was turning himself off and waiting.
Also, I don't think any episodes after the movies have dealt with this yet but Bender should still have the time code in his memory. Yes the scammers erased the code from him when they were done with it, but at the end Bender had to reread the code to go back and stick the code on frozen Fry. So unless he had another erasure he still has the time code.

It was season 6 I think. Basically, it was an Anthology of Interest-type episode, but with holidays.

You're also forgetting that newer robots (and she was new) run on pollution and emit a fresh pine scent.
Goodbye, I guess.

Sure his head lasted 1000 years in the desert, but was he powered up the whole time? I would imagine periodic shutdowns would occur.

This is Bender we're talking about. He would be in his most favorite company...himself. Doubt he would shut himself off. His head was also able to last for 1000 years in the New Mexico desert. But wouldn't that Bender have ended up in the cavern and been crushed? Time travel makes my head hurt. Blanking on the specifics of that. |
As to being in the company of himself, throughout the movie he'd timejump back to a specific point, steal the item and then wait in the caverns until his past self made the time jump then he'd come up with the treasure. He'd then repeat the process and would come up when he was logically supposed to. He then gets the code erased after time jumping to kill Fry. At the end he reads the code to go back and put the code onto frozen Fry. He then returns and states he told all the other Benders to come up instead of when they were logically supposed to thus causing the rip in reality. That Bender is the one that has been around since so he should have the time code in his memory. The other Benders were exploded by the paradox corrections. Had all those Benders stayed down there or been destroyed by Bender he could then have confiscated the loot and not caused the rip in reality.
Since the scammers had all the loot and artifacts from history, perhaps when Bender went back to stick the code on Fry he decided to make some more trips to get all the treasure again, thus negating the scammers from having had them and thus causing a large time paradox that was triggered when all the Bender's came up from the cavern.
Anyway, yes time travel does cause a headache. Still Bender should have the time code in his memory banks. Either he's forgotten he has it, has decided to not use it or is using it in secret to be discovered in a later episode.
To help lessen the chance of a paradox of many Benders, they could have simply plotted out the earliest time period that Bender had to go back to. He then time jumps and takes the first item and stores it in the limestone caverns then waits until the proper time to get the next and the next and the next all leading up to his return in the present. One Bender, many items.
Also if there were many Benders down there waiting for the right time to emerge, I would think they would shut down to avoid things like cabin fever, or the temptation to kill the other Benders for the loot, etc.
One hour season premiere tonight at 9pm Central. Let's hope that it's better than the stumbling, IMO, of season 6.
