Defense iSoftcap on which secondaries?

I've been fiddling with Mids for a while, and I still cannot reach the isoftcap on my StJ/Nin without giving up a bunch of stuff. Thought it would be possible to get a Perma Shadow Meld, but sadly, nope, even with 238% recharge. Closest thing I can get is a 5-second recharge basis. What's worse is the ever-present endurance problems, but Ageless will fix that soon, I guess.

My question is, other than SR, which other secondaries can reach the isoftcap defense for Stalkers?

It's 57% I believe?

My baby /ice will be soft capped to that against smashing, lethal, energy and negative energy with 1 application of Energy Absorption (0 for s/l).

I managed to get my DB/SR Stalker icapped to melee, ranged, and AoE. Needed Maneuvers for it, though I haven't selected any Incarnate powers yet.

I always try to aim for the softcap for melee, range, and AoE. Is having s/l/e softcapped the next best thing, or better?

Depends on the powerset. Going for s/l/e on sr is not the best idea, as sr is positional def.

SR, Ice (Apparently though I know nothing about it) and Energy (Capped to all but Neg and Psi very easily).

It is probably worth mentioning that you don't usually need to be softcapped for the full duration if you are using Shadow Meld.

I have a character build for 32.5% defence to all (1 small purple from normal softcap) that is i-capped when he pops Shadow Meld. There is only a ~50% uptime on Shadow Meld but once you have taken the alpha and spent 15s killing stuff you tend to be able to survive the rest with lower defences, and Shadow Meld is up again for the next mob.

With a 3s animation time if you were to get Shadow Meld perma then you would be spending a very significant amount of your time just casting it (Close to 10% if you have a set that also had redraw!).

Oh, damn...I didn't think of it that way...Been looking at /SR builds for far too long.

I just realised I got my maths wrong, with 3s cast time every 18s that is already more than 15% of your time. Adding say 1s redraw to that puts you at 20%!

Well, if you want to get crazy, you could build an Ninja Blade/Electric Armor Stalker past Incarnate softcap S/L/AoE. Without Divine Avalanche (which would just serve to make it ridiculous levels of defense).

I was lost in your build for a bit (WTH! is my MiDs messed up ), but then I saw you were describing an non-attacked value from hide. When attacked, hide will suppress s/l to 54.7% and AoE to 19.7%.

If you then add in slotted suppressed Hide which should be about 3.24% defense with three level 50 IOs (actually, it occurs to me now that Hide's suppressed defense will be a little higher than that because of Agility Core Paragon), and then add in the *minimum* defense you'd get from Barrier Core Epiphany which is 5% to all, you'd end up with at least 59% to melee, ranged, and AoE.

Whether it compromises too much in other areas depends on what else you intend to do with the build. I stuck in six slots into Kuji-in Sha, Spinning Strike, Shin Breaker, and Crushing Uppercut but didn't slot the powers. You could slot-shuffle to add slots to epic powers. The big question is whether you're willing to use Barrier to get there.

I'd like to see what your sacrificing in an /ICE build to reach icap on S/L/E.

My guess is you've given up recharge for top chain and/or regen/res or something?

I had a really hard time keeping my StJ/Ice at 45%+ while cramming in enough recharge to run the top chain and using things like Musc for alpha, and slotting Bastion for uber survivability.

Here's my attempt at isoftcap defense for a StJ/Nin Stalker. Needs Agility Alpha to reach it but when Hide is unsuppressed, M/R/A will be at 59.31%. With exception to the Gladiator Armor +3% defense, it is very affordable.

My Stalker took a different approach. He's at 44% defense without any incarnie debuffs. I decided to focus on +HP, and +Regen to cover my **** when things get troublesome...I'm not going to post my build.
