Hellewise and Ksenia = Bo and Kenzie?

I loath Lost Girl but my son likes it so unfortunatly I know more than I want about it. It just struck me that Hellewise and Ksenia bare a resemblance to these two characters. Ksenia inparticular as her name is very similar to the actress who plays Kenzie.

Yeah, they're really pushing ratings boundaries on things lately. Just look at any game video from E3, or most TV.

I have to wonder how old this "son" is. Yes, it's not my place to comment and is better than violence(weird how backward the ratings are there), but some things are embarrassing to have your child watching and talking about with his friends when you could just as easily be watching it for the same "enticing or gratifying" reasons.

Lost Girl is Canadian. They aren't as uptight as the US with what is shown on TV.

See Dot's mono boob in the first two seasons of Reboot when ABC was involved versus the next season after ABC dropped out. There are other "unusual" objections from ABC when they were involved with the series. Needless to say the third season was awesome.

American network though, SyFy. They are as uptight.
It has to follow the same rules.

My point was that practically all entertainment is pushing boundaries really far lately.

SyFy isn't terribly uptight actually. As a pay-for cable television channel, it doesn't have to play by the same rules as public teevee. (See also: Game of Thrones on HBO - it's even earlier into Prime Time and is far raunchier and often gorier).

Well, I don't know about SyFy being a pay for thing when basic satellite for both DirecTV and Dish Network have it in their basic programs. We certainly did on Dish and do now on DirecTV.
They still tend to follow ratings rules as much as other networks.

I can't even remember the last time I heard swearing on SyFy, which is either the shows avoiding it that I watch or maybe the network doesn't let it through.

Edit:
I mean what is there now besides Cable and Satellite? There is only the basic antenna channels, which aren't many, last I checked.

The point T is you have to pay to get those channels. SyFy doesn't use the "public airways" like ABC, CBS, etc. therefore aren't as strict. It doesn't mean that SyFy still doesn't tweak imported shows like Lost Girl, it's just they don't have to as much and they still try to cover their butts with warning bumps when the action gets a little hot in an episode.

SyFy (back when it was SciFi) tried to show the Canadian science fiction show Odyssey 5 and after all the bleeps and edits dropped the show only after a couple of episodes because it proved impractical to show (plus the added expense to edit the episodes). However this series was made for Showtime and therefore didn't need to worry since it's a subscription channel versus a bundle of cable channels you get with extended cable/sat.

Then explain Farscape's content.

Please remind me which episodes. It's been a while since I've watched the series. Chiana was always with the sexy and well Zhaan simply liked her sunlight, being a plant and all.

Then again I'm old. Things that would have shocked me when I was young dealing with violence or sexuality/sensuality on TV I rarely notice anymore. I'm like the worst person to ask if a movie is too scary for younger children.

Well it's been some time but the last time I changed a diaper he had all the equipment so I'm assuming he's still a dude but I could be wrong. His voice is deep and he's got a lot of facial hair. Am I all right with just guessing from that, that he's still a dude?

"He" is 17. "I" am 49, for a few more months. They'd have to show some PANCAKES or a BELGIAN WAFFLE for me to watch Lost Girl and probably not even then. I've seen high school plays better acted. The writing is just terrible too.

Well, I know I assumed(you know), but I was guessing your son was around 13.
That would be a bit young for watching that in most households, less so now than it was 5 or 10 or more years ago when I was that age.

Almost... the entire series? Hell, it's been described by Warren Ellis as: "The story of one American's descent into Australia's BDSM scene."

It's an import show - it isn't just filmed in Canada but airs there first...what you're seeing on Syfy is like a year out of date or so. they could edit it for content, but if they wanted to do that extensively they probably wouldn't have picked it up in the first place.

Technically speaking, the Different standards rule only applied for HBO - who don't show Commercials for anything other than their own programs - it also meant that they didn't have to edit ANYTHING they wanted. They basically drew a line in the sand and made the FCC back off, and have been beyond reproach ever since (since they basically used the "Free Speech" defense correctly - I think it got settled in court).

Cable Networks have the same standards and practices as network TV, but they don't have to worry about commercials as much as network TV (they get paid for access to their channels) so they have additional leeway in terms of content - they don't need the ratings that Network TV needs, so they can use more mature/complex content than Network.

Also, Canada wins. Always.

I've seen a couple of episodes of the show. I don't think it's really a spoiler to mention that Bo is supposed to be a succubus right? Maybe the name "Hellewise" (emphasis on the 'hell' part) is just meant to be a vague reference to the succubus thing. *shrugs*

Ellis was joking about the majority of the cast being Australian (in an Australian shot show) and the costumes which tended toward leather, vinyl and lots of buckles.

I've watched the show and made the connection when I first got Hellewise's mission. Ksenia is uncommon enough a name that either one of the devs is a fan of the show or the actress plays the game and got Tuckerized.

There's no way to make a connection between Hellewise and Bo that I can see however.

And chains. And muppet sex.

His joke wasn't far off the mark.

Except for the one I made in the post just before yours. *shrugs*

Could be that the Devs of this game just like the Kenzi character a lot more than Bo. Of the two characters on that show Kenzi is the far more entertaining of the two. Maybe Hellewise exists in this game just to make the Kenzi reference that much more obvious.
