Also Tsumiju, it's Corten, not Corton, and Kenny Dewitt, not Kenny Bewitt.

Congrats to the league and why did you all naff off before I could get it on my badger after I'd brought my Sonic/Cold Corruptor along to help you ungrateful swines out? <grin>

lol apologies for the typo's, was alt+tabbing between the game and the forums to type out the names! Was a fantastic run and a testament to all those present for just not giving up and showing it can be done!

Stuck on completing it on a regular basis atm. I did 5 successful runs in a row and then after that, now it's hard to complete it on a regular basis. heh

Have you guys gotten the 8 min badge yet?

If I wasn't away from computers for most of the weekend I'd have congratulated you guys sooner. Way to go on this! I wasn't sure it would be possible on live just yet - glad to see that it is, and done so quickly after release, too.

Hopefully we'll have some people on Virtue joining your ranks soon.

Get a League of people you trust to not go afk, chat or whatever during the trial.

Get them to practice and get good at moving away on the Crackle warning.

Be prepared to burn some resources. [Ultimate] insps available in Ourobouros from Astral Christy for 2 Astrals each are *very* useful. Take 5 in to each serious attempt.

Stack the odds in your favour. This means not everyone may be able to get the badge on their primary badge character first time round. I didn't. I was on my Sonic/Cold Corruptor helping out.

During the final fight, Concentrate.

And the final ingredient is sheer bloody mindedness. Keep plugging away at it and I'm sure other groups will get the badge.

Good luck to those who are still trying. Now I just need to try and get the badge on the three characters of mine that I actually want it on

I will add, that it was really rather nice to be in the first group to get the badge on the live servers (as far as I know, and nobody's popped up to claim otherwise yet.)

Other random question:

How long did it take you in the final fight to take him down? The full 15 (?) minutes or more like 10?

Umm, pass.

I think I burned 2, maybe 3 Ultimates, so 10 minutes or less?

It was a little stressful, so I wasn't really paying attention to anything other than staying alive, moving out of the way of Crackles and firing my Debuffs/Attacks as and when I could. (and believe me, that was plenty to be paying attention to )

Hang on, It should be in my chat logs...

Code:
06-03-2012 19:58:16 [Caption] By the power of Tartarus, I call upon the souls of the dead!
and
Code:
06-03-2012 20:04:37 [NPC] Tyrant: What?!? Impossible! No... my souls are breaking free!
That comes out to approximately 6 and a half minutes if my brain's still working, but it's stupid o'clock in the morning here now, so don't take my word for it.

Use Black Swan as a gauge. If she drops like a sack of spuds, and only manages one set of portals? You probably stand a chance, if the league can dodge lightning and stay alive.

:edit: scanning the chatlogs, I found the name of the 24th league member - Fire Magus. They left the league pretty much straight after Tyrant fell, so weren't in any of the screens posted elsewhere.

That's one thing noticed myself (and posted on the one topic in the general section)....the times I've been successful in the Mag. iTrial were when Black Swan went down after 1 (maybe 2) portal spawns.

The times where I haven't been successful is when Black Swan spawns 3 portals.

Hmm...

Thanks for the info again though Now go to bed!

Seemed more like six and a half hours to me particularly when I got CHAT BANNED cos I thought I was frantically clicking my heal but was instead clicking the MOVE NOW macro next to it!

At first I was excited to hear about this, but then I was just sad. It sets a precedent for making future trials and badges even harder, as well as being something that no one in their right mind would want to repeatedly do--just for the fun or reward of it.

In the end, however, congrats--what an epic achievement!

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

Well, one of two things will happen.

Either our little group of idiots were so uber that no other server will manage it, and so we'll be a merry little band of outliers, the badge conditions will be adjusted eventually to make it more achievable and that'll be regarded as an upper limit on how difficult to make a badge to achieve.

Or, in a few days/weeks/months it'll start turning up semi-regularly on other servers, and as more Incarnate shinies get released it'll become easier, thus meeting the stated badge design criteria. Nothing is changed in the requirements and eventually a new, harder badge will be added to cope with increased incarnate power levels.

On a complete side note, I used to watch my brother swearing at Molten Core in the gorilla. Then a few years later, I saw him go back and it was a cakewalk.

So far as I'm concerned, it's the nature of MMO's. The older stuff becomes easier over time with power creep and playerbase experience, and there's almost invariably something newer, shinier and more difficult.

I think the problem is that for a LONG time, this game had no power creep. SO/HO builds were the pinnacle for issues 0-9 (with AT/Powerset FoTM's), IO builds from 9-19 (with slow escalation over that period as techniques and builds were refined), whereupon the Alpha slot appeared and suddenly things started going nuts...

That's 19 issues, 6 years and 7 months (ish) of a pretty flat powercreep graph for people to get used to and comfortable with. I personally can't see things calming down too much any time soon. People enjoy seeing their characters get more powerful <shrug>

Apologies if this is a little incoherent, it's getting late

I agree with you to a certain extent, but here are my thoughts

I see all the Incarnate trials as having a "building up skills progression", by this I mean the following:

LAMBDA:
Gets players used to onscreen warnings to Back Away from a certain power
Get players used to using temp powers at specific times
Gets players used to splitting into two teams to maximise league benefits

BAF:
Gets players used to killing AV's in Sync

Keyes:
Gets players used to watching timers and avoiding patches on the ground

TPN, MoM, DD and UG all use those skills acquired in one way or another

Every trial IMO gets progressively harder and has a variation in the "mechanisms" in place that MUST be overcome in order to succeed.

Unfortunately most servers speed through most trials, and so a lot of players don't get to practice most of the above skills and have probably never bothered to dodge Marauders Fist or Antimatters Atomic Blast.

In the Magesteriums trial players MUST MOVE when they see the warning on screen or they are toast, in addition the penalty for them NOT moving in time means that the 23 other people cant get back into melee as soon as they should be able to.

On Union I can honestly say we don't do Slams, yes we do Tennis Court BAF's but we still regularly run MOBAFS and kill the AV's in sync. Keyes run like clockwork and is one of the quickest trials when instructions are followed.

To sum up there was never any reason why a league couldn't complete this trial : Positron issued the challenge and Union were ready, willing and more than able

I do still hope that Incarnate content becomes progressively harder, or where is the challenge for those that don't just want to speed through everything?

I theorized these would be important to any attempt on this badge. A note on these for those unfamiliar with the mechanics involved. You'll be 50+3 facing a 54+5 Tyrant, or -6 to Tyrant. The purple patch knocks all your effects including damage to 15% of their normal effect. At +5, its 30%.

So if everyone is Ultimate buffed, the net impact of the league on Tyrant is basically *doubled* just in damage, plus all debuffs also double in strength. The difference at the deep end of the purple patch is huge. The difference between +6 and +5 is 2/3rds as much as the difference from +5 all the way up to even con.

Any chicklet you can chomp that doubles your strength against a hard target like Tyrant is going to make a gargantuan difference.
