What's your cure for Altitus?
I don't have a cure for altitus, except for just forcing myself into taking my older toons to the 50+ areas and enhancing with the IO sets to really make them more and more powerful. I still get the "now I want this" urge to create new toons, but it's also tempered with the "I want to make this toon bad@$$!" one. I had horrible altitis; I'd been playing for over 5 years and only had a handfull of lvl 50s.
@Joshua.

I went from customizing my characters to customizing the villains I fight. I have my own version of the Council with terror cells of Saboteurs, Hit Men, and Spy themes. Hours of fun using the Praetorian tunnel maps.
So I guess I moved from stage 1 of Altitis to stage 2
MFing Warshade. Nothing else is as fun.
Where to now?

My altitis is minor compared to most of the true altoholics... I only have about 50 characters all together on my main account and three on my preemie secondary.
About half of that total are 50's now, and all but few of those "finished" toons are completely IO-ed full Incarnates. Many of the remaining non-50's are somewhere between 35 and 47... I have very few real lowbies any more, with most of my "under-30's" being the completely solo-played characters on Exalted and Union that I only tinker with once in a blue moon .
So, what changed? Why haven't I been making alts as much as I used to, back in the days when Steam Monk, Star Dasher and the other 30- and 40-somethings were new? Like a couple of other people have already said up-thread, it's mostly the Incarnate system.
Since it was added, I've had a hard time really considering a character "done" at flat-50, and already taking close to two dozen different ones through the trial grind... while still facing the prospect of doing about two dozen more at some point ... has pretty much made me pause and think twice every time I start to add another member to the crew.
The other consideration is that I already HAVE (or have tried and rejected-) most of the power-set combinations I wanted to play with. Some of the new sets have interested me, and some haven't... but there just aren't as many "Hey, what about a-" moments as there were when I first started to play.
That whole eventually-gotta-do-the-Incarnate-grind-with-them thing has also made me a lot quicker to abandon and/or delete toons that don't catch my fancy. I no longer have the desire to give those guys the second chance I've given some of the others in the past. These days, if I hate them at 30 they're unlikely to stick around, because I can't help but think about how much "fun" they'll be on BAF or speed-LAM number 212. That culling combined with the slow-down in making new toons has really kept the current "lowbie count" in check.

I don't really have a cure, but i do put it in remission by only buying character slots when they are on sale!
Altitus is my treatment for the much more serious condition of Chronic Boredom Syndrome. Well, one of many treatments, anyway. It's a terrible disease with a wide and ongoing range of symptoms.

My cure for altitis is the nerfing of enhancements. I still have altitis but not as severe as previously. I had slowed down my altitis after the BoTZ nerf left many of my SRs below positional defense, after the time and expense of obtaining/crafting/slotting them I had no desire to redo the builds and figured why go through all that trouble leveling up and investing in new toons when the devs can make changes anytime they feel.
My altitis is almost completely cured after the announcement of Proc changes. I have a few toons built specifically around procs especially my Dark/Dark Controller that relies heavily on Gravitational Anchor's chance to hold in Living Shadows.
I find it better now to just play casually; there are times I log in for a couple of minutes then log back out and go do something else.
Don't get me wrong, I still plan on making new toons when they release the newly announced sets, but I'm in no way going to invest the time going through content leveling or obtaining recipes for them.
Who do I have to *&^% around here to get more Targeted AoE recipes added?

It's really quite simple. Find an AT/powerset combo that is 10000% better (more fun) than all the others. After 8 years I finally found it: Street Justice/Willpower Brute. Upon making that character last August, my alt-itis was cured.
NOR-RAD - 50 Rad/Rad/Elec Defender - Nikki Stryker - 50 DM/SR/Weap Scrapper - Iron Marauder - 50 Eng/Eng/Pow Blaster
Lion of Might - 50 SS/Inv/Eng Tanker - Darling Nikkee - 50 (+3) StJ/WP/Eng Brute - Ice Giant Kurg - 36 Ice/Storm Controller
I have found the perfect cure for alt-itis. I used to fill my servers with concept characters & near-useless tag-alongs to run with friends, until I realized my slots were getting dangerously full.
So - now I am able to keep lots of clear slots on every server, and it was surprisingly easy to do. I simply opened an additional account! This worked beautifully for quite some time, until I had to 'cure that one - and then another. I am sure I have it under control now And a great side-benefit is, I can run well-balanced groups at most an level & even answer when I talk to myself!
Does that count as a cure???

But... recently I've maxed out at 48 slots on Virtue. On two accounts. Plus 2 premium accounts and 2 free accounts. Well, actually, three premium accounts... I bought another one when there was a sale several weeks ago.
I now have 6 solo SGs on Virtue for all of my toons... and one solo VG. And I'm nominally in charge of a Hero Force division, and a villain Force division. Oh, and I have several toons in MG's Taskforce Runners SG too.
I need to make more toons!

I have a system I started using a while ago to slow my altitus, that also ensures that my characters each have something different to do. I keep them all 5 levels apart. So other than my 7 level 50s and handful of level 1 placeholders, right now I have characters at level 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and a 43 that I'm currently working up to 45. This keeps me focused on certain characters and sets quick short term achievable goals, helping me get a lot of my toons to 50 that would have stalled out in their 30s. Now every time I get another 45, I know they're just one step away from being another shiny 50. Then I have room to start leveling another alt through the system. It's become a meta-game of sorts for me.
Plus i find it fun to see what my style of costumes and play was back then.
