What's a cave farm?
A cave farm is either:
a) An obscure Himalayan tribe who cultivate exotic mosses inside caves for sale.
b) A map in AE that is useful for farming. This map happens to be a cave.
The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*
It's an AE mission on the massive Atta's Cave map, full of enemies designed to be incredibly weak against Fiery Aura brutes that people run at +4x8 for massive XP to powerlevel themselves and others.
@Roderick
Damn. I was sure a) was right.

Being out of the loop on farming for a good year now, I wonder why do people run that. It would seem to me this would be fairly inefficient compared to an outdoor map due to the amount of deadends you'd have to turn back from. Spawn density is admittedly higher (if the Atta mission is to be used as a benchmark), which might be why? Or some AE trick I'm missing.

1) HUGE number of spawn points, so you can maximize xp/load time.
2) Can be set up with HUGE numbers of patrols, so the first intersection can net you a very large return without having to move at all.
3) Stable glowie spawn point that's very close to the door.
These three things make it quite flexible.
If you're PL-ing, you get folks in and then start chewing. There are over 90 spawns on that map, so there's very little reloading/cat herding required.
If you're ticket farming, pick a patrol map, go to first intersection. When you get 700-800 tix, hit the mission ender glowie and recycle quickly.
I personally find the caves deadly dull, but to each their own.
Cave farms, at least the two I use, have 99max boss mobs.
The only ones that have the possibility of dead ends are the patrol ones, eg 511104. As they are often continuously moving. Red's Cave Farm there are no dead ends as they are all stationary.
1st rule of Cave Farms is.....
Motivation is the art of getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to do it.
... don't talk about cave farming ?

I've been away for a few months, and I've seen this term pop up a few times on the forums since I've been back.
