In one of Maxs missions you come across Requim who has now become incarnated himself.
He says that he was able to get this new power [and thus be stronger than the now weakened Reichsman] back in the time of Cimerora which would explain just exactly why he went back there. What is not explained however is just how he was able to become incarnated in the first place.

According to the timeline it would have been after the ITF but before we go back to free Cimerora of the Talons as the 5th have all gone now. Am i missing some content lore as i have looked all over and found nothing in relation to this.

Also could this be the start of Requim himself playing a big role in the incarnate picture?

I'm pretty sure the Well was in Cimerora at the time. Ergo, the mission where you try to become an incarnate by going to a cimeroran map. Since Requiem was in the place at the time, it is quite possible that he managed to contact the Well and gain incarnate status before it left Cimerora.

No, you're not missing anything specific. Whatever Requiem found was not explicitly stated, though my personal theory is that it involves the ancient Nictus (As he mentions something along the lines of 'getting back to his roots').

And it's basically a way to explain why the 5th column can knock around in the big leagues of incarnate content. Dark Astoria introduced a number of factions and why they could hit the 50+ levels.

In fact...wasn't the Well missing when we went on that mission to the Cimeroran cave map?

Indeed. And maybe Requiem was why the well went missing.

Timeline is probably something like this:

1) Imperious finds the Well and becomes an Incarnate.

2) Imperious TF happens.

3) Requiem finds the Well and becomes an Incarnate.

4) Player finds the Well gone.

5) Player fights the Talons of Vengeance in Cimerora.

6) Cimerora is destroyed.

.

7) Well is found by Cole and Ricter

I really should do something about this signature.

I'm just assuming he is Incarnate through the Kheldian Well, and not Humanity's.

If not, it raises some interesting questions vis a vis Requiem's Nictus powers, Twilight's Son, Prometheus' comments about the Kheldian Well and the Battalion, and the prospect of Requiem having access to two Wells (humanity's and the kheldian's).

No, that's not necessarily true. We do know, by what Dream Doctor says, that other groups have found ways to approach the levels of power that a weaker Incarnate can manage, but that such power is never quite as good as the power granted by the Well.

61866 - A Series of Unfortunate Kidnappings - More than a coincidence?
2260 - The Burning of Hearts - A green-eyed monster holds the match.
379248 - The Spider Without Fangs - NEW - Some lessons learned (more or less.)

Kheldian Well? I don't remember that being mentioned.

So now Reichs has lost his connection to the well? I didn't quite understand why he was weakend.

Something witty and profound

Each race has its own Well.
