Newb Friendly server?

Hi I just started playing and I was wondering which server is the most newbie friendly for heroes? I made my first character on the Virtue server and so far no one higher level is willing to help even if they have the helper title. And no one wants to team up to do missions. It's getting really boring without anyone to play this game with and I will probably stop doing so if I can't find any decent people to play with.

Come to Champion, it's a small town but everyone knows everybody. Ask a question or help in help channel somene will answer you back, also we have some global channels we can get you in. Post again in champion server thread you'll find peeps are willing to through globals at you whenever you log in. Champion is known as the community server

-All else fails, doubt it. Send me a tell in game @SteelDominator

I am also from Champion and often help new players with the game. There are several other players on the server that enjoy helping new players.

As SteelDominator said, the best way to connect with people on Champion is through global channels. Head over to the Champion forums, check out our Event Calendar, Global Channel Directory or introduce yourself.

If you decide to choose a server other than Champion but have questions about the game, send me a tell @Amygdala and I will be happy to help out.

Keep in mind that a lot of people have selected the Helper title simply because it makes their character name yellow instead of blue (same with people choosing Help Me! so it will turn their name purple). It's a totally broken system and the colors really should just be removed entirely so that only people who actually want to help are designated Helper.

All the servers are friendly to new players - but the "Helper" and "Help Me" titles are often chosen for fashion reasons

But welcome to the game and the forums anyway

I'm a Champion player too and I agree it's a great server. However, I doubt it's going to be very busy at 8:00 AM Pacific time.

When you log in to the game, the servers are listed in order from the least busy at the top, to the most busy at the bottom. The list actually goes by server load, not population per se, but there's a pretty strong correspondence between server load and population.

You may wish to log in a few times when you expect to play, and take a look at that server list. The servers at the very bottom are going to be the most busy and therefore might be the best servers for you. It is worth considering and checking out, imo.

Champion is great, and if you play in the evening for East coast time or early evening West coast (USA) time, there's tons of folks on, and most of us are very helpful. At 8:00 AM, we tend to be still bleary-eyed from last nights raiding, and fumbling around for our first cup of coffee.

I'd pick a smaller server with an established community.

Freedom & Virtue are great and all, but there's nothing like the homey small town hospitality of the smaller servers. My 'home' server is Triumph, and while it's a bit of a ghost town villain side the hero contingent is active and fun.

Ran into one of those dingleberry helper's earlier this week. This person kept insisting the DfB he/she was trying to form couldn't succeed without at least one healor, and despite having 9 months of vet rewards would only use /local to make announcements the DfB had spots open (we ended up advertising for him/her in help, broadcast, etc), was refusing people because they weren't Healors, and after 45 minutes trying to fill the team kicked the 6 people that were recruited to go do housework.

Just an additional note here. After you create a character for the first time, the next time you log in, the server at the very top of the list will be the one with the character you last played on it regardless of its server load. So don't panic if you select a heavy-load server from the bottom of the list only to see it at the very top next time.

As for me, I like Protector, and most of my characters are there. It's a relatively quiet server, but that's what I like about it.

Don't listen to the person bashing Justice, it is a fantastic server, and I highly reccomend it. If you feel like branching out, feel free to send a tell to @Winged One and my husband and I would be glad to team and show you around. Whenever we're on we'll gladly team with anyone!

We moved there from Guardian after a year with the game (6 years ago) and haven't looked back since. We received a lot of help and made some very nice friends. The majority over there (from my experiences) are quite happy to team or show a new player around. There is always something going on, and usually there are multiple TF's running, not to mention multiple weekly hami raids, CoP trials, Ship raids, and a lot more.

I've run into some real nitwits over there, but I also have on every server. Never known Justice to be another other than friendly and helpful.

I like Protector myself, but regardless which server you decide to play on the Mentor Project has a global channel you can use to ask questions and maybe even find a mentor on your chosen server to team with you and show you around the game.

Just for the record: The Helper title usually means that player is willing to answer questions you have, not necessarily that they will help you with missions or leveling.

Or they just want their name to be a different color.

Use the Help channel (it's the question mark icon just above where you type) to find people doing stuff. It's not really what it's supposed to be for, but it's how most people use it due to lack of other options for free players (that will be changing when i23 goes live)

Also, if you're chatting in Local, it's entirely possible that the "Helper" you were talking to didn't hear you. This can be for several reasons.

1) They were too far away from you for your chat to show up (Local has a limited range)

2) They didn't have Local chat in their chat window because they were in a different channel at the time.

Just because they didn't respond doesn't mean they were being rude, they may not have known you even said anything.
