Convincing people like -you- is not the problem. The Devs would need to be convinced.

Either hair capes ARE a problem for low-end machines or the Devs are apparently still convinced they are.
Either way the Devs don't seem too motivated to address this for -whatever- reason. *shrugs*

Personally, using the cape system for hair would not be good looking.
Better using some jiggle bone tech instead imo.

Storm from the X-Men.

Edit: There I go getting left and right mixed up again. No idea.

I've never been a fan of "cape hair," myself. I find it looks terrible on Ghost Widow and I also find that it's very limited in the kind of hair it can depict, specifically limited to flat, sparse hair with no volume. It can't depict dynamic pigtails or a dynamic pony tail, it can't depict animated short hair and so forth, and if we ever did get "cape hair," it would be mutually exclusive with capes.

If we are to get moving hair of some sort, I'd rather this used more widely-applicable, better-looking tech than what is very obviously a cape instead of hair.

this is why i dont want simply a straight port of GW's hair.

this is why i suggest a new model that isnt as flat. the "static" portion of the hair option could be bigger, and more voluminous, as most of the hair options right now are pretty flat and straight. something larger, maybe not like the foxy afro, but something more full, with the 'cape' portion wrapping around the head more similar to the jacket 'cape' portions that wrap almost all the way around the body would give the illusion of fuller hair and movement. draw curly hair on the cape instead of belladonna's straight hair, and you have something more interesting and satisfying. if i can i'll get an image of GW and her hair then MS paint what i'd like using that as a starting point, if my explanation doesn't make sense still. and sorry XD ms paint is fast and easy.

also i consider the bridal veil slightly more complicated than a normal cape or gw's hair because it's pinched on one end and folded on the other, and is transparent on top of having 'invisible' edges. XD

also, i have no idea who the girl with the gorgeous hair is on the right. when i was making my sample image, i simply googled "gorgeous hair" lol and found one that expressed my desire for a hair option.

:P

I think we need long hairstyles for male and female soon.
The latest we had has been only short hair, and the legacy hairstyles are too low on polygons to look good.
I think we should get this options:

Hood with hair:

Gorgons and Tielekku long hair:

also, the hair-cape when you mix the bridal veil with Praetorian belladonna, and close your eyes, can actually give the effect of something like this:

I'll just say that your ability to "imagine" the current hair or hair-like features of this game giving you an effect that mimics pics like these is far greater than mine.

This has been, and will continue to be, a question revolving around the player skeleton models as they stand. Every limitation we discuss, be it hair here, fingers, certain types of skirts, texture mapping and so on, revolves around the very glaring problem that remains with the bodies as we have them.

I should point out that any proposal to replace them would in turn require every single costume part in the game to be redone, which is just unfeasible. But there's an increasing disparity between the quality and in an increasing number of cases, functionality of costume parts and the body model on which it rests.

What seriously has to be looked at, at least I feel, is some means to upgrade and/or redesign the model as we have it. Moveable hair can be done for low-end rigs with more modern game engines. It currently exists in the space fantasy glow stick game out there. People I'm sure can attest to that freely, and it's a low-end game for a PC now, as MMO's by necessity have to be.

It's in the same ballpark as weapons customisation, power customisation...really any sort of customisation. It probably can be done, it's a question of time and resources. And I think it's becoming overdue.

i am no mere mortal man.

and as Antonia would say about our dreams of now fashionable models of GW's cape-rigged hair... "it is possible"... O_<

That's very much an "apples and oranges" scenario you're trying to equate here.

Next time you play the game closely compare Ghost Widow's hair to the bridal veil. If you're still willing to call both of them equivalent in terms of shape and animation complexity then I'm willing to allow you to think of a good reason why the Devs have allowed one of these things to be used by players for years and the other not. I almost can't wait to see what your rationale for that has been.
Flash is very much correct. Ghost Widow's hair is indeed a single sheet. I've studied that hair animation every time I've seen it, and all it is is a head-cape with texturing.

I'm with Sam on this. GW's hair look terrible and the main reason a straight port would be a bad idea. I think real animated hair is the limit to what our engine can perform, regardless of tweaks or tricks.

Want both of these hair options and have since I first saw them, thank you very much.

As far as Ghost Widow's hair, this is a player wish that should have come true about 6 years ago. It is far past time for animated hair, and I say let's make it happen. I am fine with not being able to use capes or other backpieces with it, I just want it now and I am not alone in that. Curly hair, straight hair, flat hair, floofy hair: animate yesterday please.

Also needed: animated topknot for men AND women. That way guys are not left out, plus I have several men wearing it.

People not wanting to wear "ugly" animated hair can just not wear it: kind of like I eschew ugly costume parts like those *&@# Celestial boots. Everyone happy.
