I know where the Simpsons live!

Yeah that's fine if Matt wants to nail The Simpsons' location down to a specific state. I still prefer the idea that there's an actual real "Springfield" in almost every state so it could be anywhere you wanted it to be. No big deal either way I guess.

I couldn't find Springfield Gorge anywhere near there.

The Googles! They do nothing!

Arc# 92382 -- "The S.P.I.D.E.R. and the Tyrant" -- Ninjas! Robots! Praetorians! It's totally epic! Play it now!

Arc # 316340 -- "Husk" -- Azuria loses something, a young woman harbors a dark secret, and the fate of the world is in your hands.

I probably cared 17 years ago. Now? Not so much.

(For clarity, that isn't a jab at anyone that still enjoys the show or a knock on the show itself. It's just odd he breaks this info out this many years later.)

I think it's probably just another hint that the Simpson's era is coming to a close.
It's been a great franchise but it's not going to last forever...

The Simpsons has a few more seaons yet to go in their new contract they set up late last year.

Fans have speculated for years that the original idea for Springfield was near his hometown. I just don't see the merit in stating that it is indeed the same place, when over the years, Springfield has evolved to be the "anywhere USA" city.

There was an episode where they used the old man in the rock face from New Hampshire. Or when West Springfield was the size of Texas.

Or when Ned and Homer drove to Vegas within a day and when they left, they were headed west. I know the ol' riding off into the sunset cliche probably applies, but they were suppossed to be headed home. They wouldn't head west toward California if they were headed to Oregon. It's stuff like that which says to me that the city is more than the idea that spawned it.

I don't know, it certainly felt that way for a while! South Park is like this as well. It just keeps going and going...

For me, The Simpsons stopped being relevant some time in 1997, about two years after the movie should have come out, seriously!

I was also unaware that Oregon was home to deserts, mesas and the Warren G. Harding Memorial Through Hole.

Nobody is reporting this correctly, all he said is that the show's Springfield was based on Springfield, OR.

Yeah, everyone is pretty much reading the headline then skimming the article for the name of the state.

The Simpsons don't live in Oregon. It's a fictional city (with a common name) in a fictional state. We've known this for decades but for some reason people kept looking for clues anyway.

I read it.

That's why I didn't just put the spoiler in, since it technically doesn't exist anywhere.
Besides, with them relocating Springfield entirely a few episodes back, it could have very well moved 'anywhere'.

There's dozens of towns in America called Springfield, I don't think that was accidental either- it's deliberately made to be Anytown, America, and some episodes go to pains to stress the absurdity.

But yeah, based on his childhood hometown, not surprising at all.
