Superior Corruptor ATO set in Fire Ball or Blaze?

I have slotted the superior set before.. I have the full set in Bitter Ice Blast on my Ice/Time and it procs more often than not.

I was wondering if it would be best in Fire Ball or Blaze. Fire Ball seems like the logical choice if it can proc on most enemies it hits. But I have heard people say it's so much better in high rechare single target attacks. Also.. Fire Ball gets much better values than 5 slotting a Posi set.

I put it in Blaze for the very reason you describe. There is a design feature of the store-bought procs and ATO procs that really hurts their proc chances in an AOE attack, moreso if it has fast recharge.

i would definitely not put the proc in an AoE if possible, the posi blast proc would easily outshine it since it has a chance for each target

since the corr AT proc PPM is 4/mim (5/min for superior) to get the best result out of it should put it on a power with 15 sec (12 sec) or more base rech if it is single target it will have 100% chance of firing

Not trying to threadjack but what happens if its in psedeuopet ala rain of fire? Would it have a chance to proc with every tick? Would it still buff the corruptor? What about dots from the fire attack?

Of more interest to me personally, something like full auto would it have a chance on every tick? What about ignite?

That's what I was thinking.. It would be pretty epic if it procced on every enemy hit with Fireball. Looks like I will be switching the two in my Fire/Cold build. That's alright though, it frees up a slot and gives me more recharge =]

I have the ATO slotted into Rain of Fire and I'll see 5 - 6 procs each time I cast it.

The reason I have it slotted into RoF is simple. There are only two IO sets that grant more than ~30% recharge for a targeted AE: Ragnarok and the ATO. On the other hand, there are a wide array of options for single target attacks.

I would base it on what set bonuses you're chasing, personally.

If you really need the extra R/N/E defense, there's no other way you're going to get that in an AoE. If you're more interested in Recharge, the only Ranged options are Decimation and Apocalypse, and the ATOs are head-and-shoulders above Decimation in both enhanced values, set bonuses, and the proc's usefulness.

I put it in Fire Ball for two reasons: as stated above, it's a way to get ranged defense out of an AoE, and the recharge is better, at least while levelling up and pre-spiritual alpha, than using Positron's and a common recharge. I care a lot more about those two things than I do about the proc.

The set itself works best in Blaze, however if you are building for ranged defense it can be better in Fireball as Taoe doesn't have any other way of getting that good ranged defense set bonus.

To me, it would depend on your secondary.

For a purely ranged set, I like to add some range to blaze, so it's closer to the range of my other attacks (I tend to go 4 devastations + 2 centriole hamis, but if someone has a better idea, would love to hear it!). So for playing at range, so I'd put the ATO set in just about anything other than blaze or fire breath. But that's me.

I put the ATO in fireball, because it's the attack I use the most. RoF gets a rech. IO after the 5 posi or ragnaroks. Also, ragnarok proc, "chance for KD" in RoF makes me giggle.
